abidismaili Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Paul says "boys make money". How? That high roller only asked them to sit with him and he bought them their drink (400 baht in Fresh Boys). Boys receive from bar part of that 400 baht? Maybe he tipped them afterwards. Is 100 baht what your guys tip a boy who you asked to sit with you? I wonder if a Farang ever asked 5 or 7 boys to go to his hotel room with him. That is expensive. 7 times bar fee plus 7 times 2000 baht for short time. Has it ever happened? Quote
abidismaili Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 There have been a couple of high rollers in Fresh Boys this past week. What benefit? Maybe he finds it more exciting to sit around talking to a group of boys than sitting up in the corner all by himself. This is presenting a false alternative. The question is not being alone or with boys. The question is being with one or two boys or with 5 or 7. The last is expensive and I think not giving so much more extra entertaining value, also because it is hard to interact with boy number 7 who sits 1.5 meter to your left after 3 other boys who are sitting to your left. Quote
paulsf Posted March 25, 2017 Author Posted March 25, 2017 What does expensive have to do with it? Money doesn't matter at all to those that have it. Boys don't mind at all sitting at your left or right,. They are getting drinks and Yes they are getting tipped well. They are having fun interacting with their friends. Their not sitting lonely by themselves till their time to go on stage comes. No it isnt me but that being said, I have been to FreshBoys every night for the week or so. I have seen these situations going on. I have my own group of about 5 or 6 boys that sit with me so I am very aware of what is going on. I have a boy that is very close to me so I don't do the group off thing. I'll just say it's been a good week for the boys. Abidismaili, your in town. Meet me at Fresh Boys tonight and I'll introduce you to some of the boys. DivineMadman, ChristianPFC and Alexx 3 Quote
abidismaili Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 I prefer to stay anonymous. And I met some Vietnamese boys yesterday in Fresh Boys But it is you :-) You say you have your own group of 5 or 6 boys that sit with you. So you pay 5 or 6 drinks for them. That is what I saw. So why say it wasn't you? I saw a guy having about that number of boys. And they all had a drink. If it wasn't you then how do you differ from these high rollers who also have so many boys sit with them? What is the difference between you and them :-) And you still have something to chat about with them if you go every day? Conversations still go on? You take each day another one to your hotel? Is it correct these Vietnamese boys don't bottom. That is what I was told yesterday. Quote
paulsf Posted March 25, 2017 Author Posted March 25, 2017 No it isn't me. I don't buy that many drinks. Usually only one for my boy. The big difference is I live here many months. I know half the boys because I am there every day. They all stop buy and say hi for a few minutes.i dont off many boys as I have one special boy. I have very good friendships with most of the Vietnamese boys. As to what they will or won't do, that's between you and the boy. Again I have a very different relationship with them as many are close friends. DivineMadman 1 Quote
Guest abang1961 Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Most of us on vacation in Thailand will NOT be counting our pennies/cents/dollars.. We set a budget for the trip and as long as it is within that 10% range, I would dare to say, it's still AFFORDABLE. Imagine myself..I don't go out much in my own city but tend to do more shopping and dining when I'm overseas. Tell me, why can we PAMPER ourselves on these holidays? So for those who can afford to splurge (in the eyes of paupers like me), go ahead. Make yourself and your entourage/harem of boys happy. It is a WIN-WIN situation. A little nostalgia here.. Londoner Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 I saw a hi-so Thai take a group of guys from the stage in Toy Boys a couple of years back...they sat in a row playing with their mobiles. Five of them; it meant that there were only six left on the podium for the rest of the customers to enjoy. Ostentatious and selfish behavioiur. I've also seen similar behaviour in Xboys and, worst of all , many years ago in Solid, when five of the eight present were sitting down with a falang and were "out of circulation". Quote
abidismaili Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Good point. It has indeed something selfish. The bars can't be happy also. Because if you take 7 boys from stage you will most likely only take one to your hotel room. In the mean time the other boys can't be offed, can't get their 2000 baht short time fee from another customer because they were offed with the others for drinking with that rich Farang. Which earns them far less then being offed for short time. Indeed. I wonder if the boys realize it reduces their chance for a short time off that evening when they are offed for drinking with a group of others. Quote
a447a Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 , many years ago in Solid, when five of the eight present were sitting down with a falang and were "out of circulation".Yes, that was a common occurrence in Solid. I think the farang was the owner. My regular guy in Pattaya used to work at Sunny Boys. Even though I had offed him for the duration of my holiday, we used to drop in every night for an hour or so. I always had his friends come and sit with us, so we got to enjoy chatting with them and they got drinks and tips. But as they knew I would not be offing them, I told them to feel free to get up and leave if a potential customer came in. Surprisingly, they usually decided to remain with us. The bond between some of these guys is very strong, especially as they often come from the same town. paulsf 1 Quote
abidismaili Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 What is acceptable behavior? If I off a boy for a drink, then I am expected to pay him a drink and give him a tip (100 baht or so). And he is expected to sit with me, let me cuddle him, etc. But for how long does this silent arrangement last? I think after 30 minutes he is allowed to leave or not? Or you can have him sit with you for 3 hours and only one drink? He is only allowed to leave you when you dismiss him? What are the silent rules regarding this? ChristianPFC 1 Quote

paulsf Posted March 25, 2017 Author Posted March 25, 2017 You are so hung up on money you will never have a good time. There is no time limit. If boy sits and you buy drink for him, he can stay for as long as you want or are enjoying his company. If your over him, just say thanks and yes tip him. This is what these boys do for a living. They get called over and dismissed, as you say, many times over. It's not nearly as difficult as your trying to make it. Wether it's 2 minutes or 2 hours boys come and go. What do you mean by silent arrangement? You would be surprised to see how many of these boys speak even a little bit of English. At times communications can be a bit difficult, but Boys have found the more English they speak, the more money they make. vinapu 1 Quote
abidismaili Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 I mean with "silent arrangement" that it is just not clear to me what the rules are. I think it is unfair if you ask boy over, pay him a drink, then cuddle him for 3 hours and dismiss him with 100 baht. You can do this because unlike a short time off where you agree what he will do for how much, there arent really any negotiations happening when you ask a boy to sit with you. So it is a silent arrangement. I think with unspoken rules. And having him over for 3 hours and just one drink and 100 baht tip is I think a violation of these unspoken rules. vinapu 1 Quote
firecat69 Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Bottom line there are no rules! Fairness is the operative word. Most people who can spend thousands of $ for a trip to Thailand understand what is fair. Unfortunately as with all things in life, a few don't give a damn and treat the boys like meat in a Deli. None who spends any time on this Forum should be able to discern what is fair and if you can't then ask. That does not mean that you will not encounter customers in the Bars who don't give a damn about fairness. Quote
jason1975 Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Well, even if the boy you fancy is seated in a group around a customer, you can always ask mamasan to ask him if he would like to sit with you instead. vinapu, DivineMadman and paulsf 3 Quote
paulsf Posted March 25, 2017 Author Posted March 25, 2017 If you have a boy over for a drink and after awhile nothing is going on, many boys will say they need to go onstage for a rotation and then come back to sit with you. Again you may be a novice about this, but the boys know what they have to do to make money. Hopefully you give more than 100 for 3 hours. As Jason just mentioned, if boy is sitting long time with customer and nothing really going on, she will bring him to you if your really interest. Some of the more popular boys will run between 3 customers at a time. A few minutes here few minutes there. If your really interest in off, grab him. DivineMadman 1 Quote
a447a Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 If there are any rules, then I guess you are the one who makes them, as you have the money. And money is power in the bars. Isn't it just common sense when it comes to payment? If you were in their position, wouldn't you want to be rewarded for your time? I always apply the value for money rule, and disregard the cost. I'll pay a guy what I think he is worth. If I have him sit with me for a chat, the minimum is a drink and 100 baht. If I feel really attracted to him I'll give him more. If I'm really, really attracted to him, the chat finishes and we end up in my room. I treat the "going rate" as a guide only. paulsf and DivineMadman 2 Quote

If you do it longer, boy and/or mamasan will pester you for drinks. When I have a boy sit with me, I rather quickly either off him or dismiss him (when I give him 100 Baht and say thank you, the boy leaves). Quote
colmx Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 In my experience the waiters will be pretty spot on when your allotted time is over Boy finishes drink, waiter approaches and asks will you buy the boy another drink.... Your options are then to either: Buy it, hence expressing an interest in him staying longer Say no, and most likely the boy will go back on stage Say no, and off the boy, go elsewhere for more drink/food or back to hotel vinapu 1 Quote
jason1975 Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 There was once i off a boy one night and the next night, i saw him seated with a customer for a long time. I liked and enjoyed his company but i was determined to try another boy that night and had in fact signalled for one to sit next to me. As i finished my drink and got ready to pay for drink and off fee for my boy who had gone off to get changed, i saw that the first boy was still seated. Customer was hardly talking to him. He was touching his thigh and hugging his waist while he watched the boys on stage and he drank his drink very slowly. Poor boy was sitting like a statue in his white briefs wondering if the customer would off him. I motioned to a mamasan and ordered a drink to be delivered to boy. Once he got drink, he came over to me to thank me for drink. He thought that i was gonna off him but i regretfully said i already had someone that night. I said sorry for misunderstanding. The following night, i went back to the bar for him. abidismaili, DivineMadman and paulsf 3 Quote
