gerefan Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Do Thai boys define it the same way as we do, that is a boy who provides sex for money? Simple as that. Someone I know who does sex for money, but has a regular job as a bar manager, got terribly upset and annoyed at the term. Hotly denied he was a money boy! Obviously he isn't a gogo boy but does do sex for baht. So, to them is a "money-boy" someone who steals money or some other derogatory term that I am not aware of? Quote
Guest abang1961 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" was written so long ago by that British playwright that it is still applicable despite all these years. Anyone who seeks financial gratification is a money boy regardless whether he has a day job or not. I really think there is alot of difference between money boy and THIEF as the former offers a service to the client whereas the latter, lifts from the client's wallet without his prior agreement. Although I am way too old to be one and never had the experience of being one, I look forward to the day when someone (obviously a very drunk farang) mistaken me as one.. That will be my wish for the Year of the Rooster. ** Year of the Rooster starts in less than 24 hours' time. In Chinese, Rooster has the same nomenclature as "Chicken", a slang for prostitutes/money boy/sex worker/hooker..In Chinese, it is pronounced as Ji, Gai in Cantonese and Thai... So the next time, order Tom Yum Gai (tom yum soup with chicken).. Quote
farangyai Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 You may want to consider the concept of "face" in an asian culture. Being viewed by you as a money boy and being CALLED a money boy are two different things. They may also view accepting money as more akin to sponsorship as opposed to requesting a specific amount upfront. Subtle differences in presentation of a comment can be received very differently. Just as many Thai boys may say "up to you" when accepting payment. williewillie and khaolakguy 2 Quote
Londoner Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 My bf- whom I'd met in a bar - was once called a prostitute (in Thai) by some young guys while we were going to eat in Central, Pattaya. He was furious and told me that the word was inappropriate. On the other hand, he said, "bar-boy" was was entirely acceptable. Quote
Guest Vasusbermie Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I guess it is kinda like an escort vs a prositiute. Both are doing the same thing one is just viewed as more high end or classier than the other. Quote
Guest abang1961 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Voulez-vous coucher avec moi (ce soir) ? I am not in the business but I do use this line every now and then.... For me it would be an honour to be called "Pro...".. but to the working boys, labelling them isn't a gracious act. Just call them "copain", "petit ami", "mon cheri", companion, buddy..whatever name they fancy.. In Chinese, we like to address the boyfriend as "Lao Gong" which means Husband..."Ai Ren" lover, "Qing Ai de" for my dearest.. Whatever you do, just don't belittle your wonderful companion in public ... Quote
Vessey Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Its a bit like calling all (or most) of us 'sex tourists' there are not many of us who would readily call ourselves that even though we travel half way around the world and pay Thai boys to let us fuck them. To be fair most of the boys refer to us as 'customers' even when we have known them for years, that is why I so appreciate Vit always calling me my my Christian name as it makes me feel more like a person he knows rather than just another customer. Most of my friends would hate to be called a money boy. But even the boy who I help at University still expects daily payment when he comes to stay with me even though he protests that he is not interested in money and how its all up to me - it isn't really of course. Similarly many of the girls will admit that they 'work bar' but get upset if called a prostitute. But what of the girls who work 7/11 but then will appear on Beach Road at the end of the month when the rent is due LOL Quote
Guest Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 The only time the term money boy comes up in any conversation I have with Thais is when we're starting a discussion on a phone app and one of them shows refreshing directness by declaring he's a money boy. I like that. Very helpful in somewhere like Bangkok, where most of the boys on the apps are not money boys Quote
vinapu Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 But what of the girls who work 7/11 but then will appear on Beach Road at the end of the month when the rent is due LOL they can be called ' ladies in need" ggobkk and Vessey 2 Quote
Guest abang1961 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 If those girls are "ladies in need", then we the forum members must be guys and "gentlemen in heat". We guys are visual animals - we prefer to see and touch before we know the person... Most of the time, good sex first and then, friendship... Is it the same with you guys? Quote
a447a Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I have no problem referring to myself as a sex tourist, as that is exactly what I am. I see buying sex the same way as I see buying food. When I'm hungry, I buy food; when I'm horny I buy cock. Same, same. But I would draw the line at referring to my bedtime friend a a " money boy.". No way! I see that as a very derogatory term which suggests a total lack of respect for the boy. And that's wrong, in my book. My Bangkok afternoon regular sometimes refers to his job as "I sell my cock." And he has no problem being honest about what he does. It has bought him enormous financial benefits over the.years. And he just LOVES fucking. It's a win, win situation - for both of us. We sometimes discuss the ins and outs - pardon the pun - of his work, but I never call him a money boy. Quote
ChristianPFC Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 The current term in Thai is ค่าขนม Kaa Khanom "money for sweets". Before it was money for taxi (enough to go around Bangkok twice), school or university tuition fee, sick grandmother. Few will openly admit being a money boy, and I appreciate that, saves beating around the bush. kokopelli 1 Quote
abidismaili Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Still I have the idea in Thailand there is less shame involved in being a money boy. In Europe a gay prostitute will hide it for family and most friends, not want to be seen with a clearly much older guy in public, walking hand in hand. Because it will be obvious what he is. In Thailand I know boys from whom the parents know exactly how they can pay their room each month, what they do for it. It really is a different country in that regard. It is not out of the norm, it is not a taboo being a money boy like it is in Europe. That is my impression at least. Quote

vinapu Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 There are also many who are married....their wives must know and, to some extent, approve. you got it right, I even saw girls picking up their boys after end of shift in the both bar and massages. One of hunks at now defunct FanClub massage on Convent when asked about long time off possibility told me outright prohibitive price claiming that this is what his wife expects to see when he is absent for the night, In retrospect I think now I should pay then , LOL Still I have the idea in Thailand there is less shame involved in being a money boy. work like any other and certainly less dusty than construction job. You may be right , I even had case when boy forced me to march hand-in-hand all the way from Screwboys to Take-a-Nap. On another hand as reported in my Jun 2016 report one of Tawan boys asked me to go separately to Raya so he is not seen walking with that illegitimate son of Hunchback of Notre Dame , me. I saw his point as walking on opposite side of Suriwong I saw he was stopped few times by various acquaintances and it was both nights in row. By the way I personally never heard term ' money boy ' used by my companions there to describe themselves or other boys for that matter. Closest I have heard was " I know I work in the bar" ggobkk 1 Quote
colmx Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 a lot of boys on hornet will now write "not for free" or "I'm Moneyboy" in their profiles During show time in NAB its quite often that the Ladyboy "Monsters" will start to shout out about Garee Pattaya (Pattaya Prostitutes) and its usually all titters and laughs during this section of the show... So for me its all about the tone in which the MB insinuation is made... vinapu and gerefan 2 Quote

More so than buying other services. And "money boy" is as improper as to say to go to a "money doctor", call a "money plumber", etc. What is more intimate than to have a "money gastroenterologist" look at the inside of one's ass with a colonoscopy? ggobkk and ChristianPFC 2 Quote
Guest Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 When the customer is thousands of miles from home & the boy is hundreds of miles from home, both are frequently happy to walk down the street hand in hand. In many cases both parties would be a lot more discrete in their home towns. The same principles apply to other related activities. Quote

Guest ryanasia Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 They don't go to websites to ask such things. Everybody here is aware of what a boy toy or girl is and you will find that understanding is explicitly tacit. Quote
