Guest Lerwick Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Hi everyone. This is my first post here, but not my first Visit to Thailand. Have booked at short notice and arrive late next week. Staying at the above hotels for the first time as my usual ones were booked up. Has anyone stayed there recently? I'm sure the Hotels are fine but what are they like if I bring anyone back? Do they charge Joiners fees? I really don't care for the hassle of being questioned and looked at dissaprovingly. :-) Is Thailand busy just now? Has the death of the King affected Thai life? Any particularly good or bad bars/clubs? Which clubs are still open in Pattaya? i.e. NAB, Dave Man club? Sorry, lots of questions there, but any feedback/opinions welcome. Quote
vinapu Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 welcome to the forum and don't forget to post your trip impressions here. Quote
Guest abang1961 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Ok confession time.. An Australian met up with me at the Dongtan Beach not long ago and we had great chemistry. Of course, sex was indeed in our agenda when he offered to buy me a drink at Central PAttaya two hours later. There was no problem getting to the Mercure and we even swam in the pool..me of course the slutty one, was in my "almost" naked mode - in a lime green c-string..yes, no support at the back.. No questions were asked and I returned that same evening, the receptionist actually greeted me.... Quote
colmx Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 The bad news is that the Mercure hotel is known as a ghost hotel to many locals or long term Pattaya guests The almost complete hotel site was abandoned during the Asian crisis in 1997 and lay unfinished for a number of years During that time it was used as a yaba den and was often the scene of murders or apparent "suicides" A lot of locals will refuse to stay in this hotel to its reputation (Certainly my BF anyway!) Don't be surprised if a guy doesn't want to stay long term there (overnight) - its not personal... just superstition! ChristianPFC 1 Quote
Guest Lerwick Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Thanks for the welcome. And yes, I'll post my impressions here. Good to hear the Mercure should be Ok. I'll just have to wait and see how anyone reacts to the superstition side I guess. Quote
spoon Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I stayed at dusit thani and there are no joiner fee. In fact, if u are coming from salaedang, u will use the back entrance, which is not the same level as the lobby, and can go straight to your room from the lift there. No one asked me or my off for the night id though, but i only did that once. Quote
