Alexx
If I had a magic wand, I'd make all racists disappear from the face of the Earth in an instant. My very next move would do the same with paranoid dogooders who see racism, sexism and whatever other isms there are in even the most harmless acts. Paranoid panic mongering and thought policing is just as harmful to society as racism. tony1van, kokopelli, traveller123 and 1 other

Londoner
I'm with Ronnie. The minstrel photo is insulting. I recall a wooden effigy of one in, of all places, Krabi. Thais don't understand the history of the struggle. If you ever have the chance to see the musical "The Scotsborough Boys", there's a magnificent (and tear-jerking) scene at the end when the boys reappear on the stage in black-face. One of the great theatrical moments of my life. bucknaway

a447a
If he is one of the dancers, then I know exactly who you are talking about even though I've never seen a number pinned to his briefs. He's gorgeous. The was no rimming show last night so I asked the tout outside what had happened. He just mumbled something about small crowds and the fact that acts are always changing. BTW, those young waiters dressed in black are all from Vietnam. I got quite friendly with one of them as we had a long conversation outside. Later he came and sat with me. He told me he was available but given previous experience with Vietnamese guys, I decided to pass. Still, he's quite cute. bucknaway and ChristianPFC

Paranoid panic mongering and thought policing is just as harmful to society as racism. You have to be rather privileged to see the two as equally harmful. I don't know the background of every poster here, but any American should know that blackface is offensive to most African Americans. I don't see anything wrong with pointing that out, little SJW long ago history major me. vinapu, DivineMadman and bucknaway
spoon
Given the context that the picture is used to describe rimming, id have to say its not racist. If it is used to offend the black, then itll be racist. i used to study in the states, having coming from an asian country, i had a fair share of discrimination there. But i dont find russel peter jokes on chinese people stereotype offensives, as it was done for humor and not to ridicule or oppress them. Having said that, if one is offended by what you posted and have the courtesy to voice out their feeling, i believe it is appropriate to apologize and says u didnt mean to offend them. vinapu

That's always an option; I've already stated what I think about that. That I'm privileged goes without saying. We all are, leisurely discussing gay sex shows here. Yes I'm afraid the USA has caught a rather severe dose of racism
Londoner
It never lost it, even with an Afro-American president. In fact, the more successful individuals "make it", the more virulent the racism becomes. That is the story of the past ten years. witty and kokopelli
Alexx
Indeed, racism has been doing very well under President Obama: such a prominent figure to hate for those inclined.
