I'm very carefull taking photos of boys and indeed myself. Last night I slept with a boy I contacted on GR who told me he worked at a hospital, I don't know in what capacity but he seemed educated. There is no way I would take him and publish photos. Also I would like my friends at home seeing me cavorting in Pattaya - well known as the world capital of sleaze.

I have however library of pictures I have taken over the years of boys who were OK with it after me asking permission. I have a remote selfie device which enables me to get in the picture with my boyfriends.

Well, that's an answer to a different question.

The closures over the years can in no way imaginable be attributed to trip reports and the like. If that were true, every single bar would have closed - and at the same time. Clearly, that hasn't happened.

Firecat has explained the reasons perfectly.

Im a little confused. I thought the Board rules were quite specific and pointed them out a few posts ago. Unless a barboy has given permission for his photo to be shown here along with his name, such photos are not permitted. Isnt that perfectly clear? Its not really a matter about identifying bars but identifying boys. One poster said he was sure Vessey had obtained that approval. I don't know how true that is or was. Sorry Vessey, Im not pointing a finger specifically at you. Just want to know what the Board will tolerate. If its against the rules then I guess a moderator should step in.

If rules are now being broken then surely the one about no frontal nudity should also be abandoned. That strikes me as the stupidest rule of all. This is a private members only site yet anyone can go on to any number of tumblr sites and see nudity to their hearts content. Why the ban here?

exactly for that reason I guess , perhaps we don't want to be just another porn site.

As for identifying boys we really know only their nicks and aliases. I never saw boys ID where his name on it would match or even were somewhat similar to one they use in business.

a447, As you well know, one owner of an establishment was furious when he heard of your post with specifics that happened in his establishment. In Vessey's post he named a guest house including specifics involving prostitution along with names and photos of those involved.  The problem is not nudity, such as big cock shows, in bars, it is prostitution which is illegal and makes those involved subject to fines/prosecution.  Of course the authorities are aware, in general, of what the go-go bar business entails. Boys selling their asses and girls selling their pussies.  But to name specific bars and exactly what is going on, especially prostitution, that is giving fodder to authorities or NGOs to conduct one of there infamous raids.

Many of you seem to think that authorities make regular or random checks of all go-go bars to see for themselves. I doubt that. I believe they hear of some "goings on" either by some of the farang snitches, or the no-good, do-gooders who would like to see anything gay closed down. Or, they can just read these forums, from time to time, and can easily check it out for themselves.

One fact is that Eros and Colonial were visited by an undercover snitch who then "blew the whistle" and in came the authorities.

I hate to see that happen again as Eros is my favorite bar to enjoy a few drinks and the company of their friendly staff. Having another bar closed down in Sunee would be a disaster for that area.

I've followed this issue with interest and can sympathise with both sides of the argument. However, there there is one aspect of Kokopelli's last post which deserves to be considered carefully.

We know that Thai authorities like a quiet life when it comes to activities which may be termed illegal and so the influence of an agent provocateur, perhaps threatening unwelcome publicity, or perhaps someone with friends in high places, should be taken seriously. However much the authorities would prefer to let sleeping dogs lie, if such a person  (or organisation) is determined to make a fuss, and has the means with which to do it, then investigations and possible prosecutions are more likely.

"a447, As you well know, one owner of an establishment was furious when he heard of your post with specifics that happened in his establishment."

Well, that's what I was told (not by the owner, I might add) and so I did not make mention of the goings on in his establishment in my next trip report a few months later.

But as I have already said, the boys in my report told me their boss was not angry at all and it was he who had alerted the boys to my comments about them. So I've heard 2 sides to the story. I've sat with him around a table drinking with a group of ex-pats and he never brought up the topic.

And even though I do take your point about premises being used for prostitution, I still firmly believe that the authorities know all about what goes on in the numerous short-time hotels (and 'curtain hotels" out in the countryside). Not only that, they've known about it for years - ever since the Vietnam war when prostitution really took off. The horse has well and truly bolted so everyone just turns a blind eye and accepts their monthly tea money.

Also, how many of the regulators use the services of prostitutes? And isn't at least one popular bar owned by a member of the police force?

Koko, I can see where you're coming from but I just think it's a non-issue. You are worrying about something that, if it were true, would have happened long before the invention of the internet and the various gay forums.

Again, the authorities do not need to turn to us to find out what it happening right under their very noses.

Case closed. Everyone is going to believe what they want to believe. I made my concerns known and can do no more than that.

Nonetheless it was a good point of discussion and , as suggested, better posted separtely which I have no intention of doing.

Now Vessey can continue his posts without interruption from me; already the thread has digressed enough from his adventurers to the distraction of his followers

Willie, I am curious if you believe the NGO's are trying to close all bars or bars with underage staff?

I am not in Pattaya, but I don't hear of the NGO's trying to close Tawan or any of the Bangkok bars.  Perhaps too much money?  Or, perhaps they are not concerned with those places?

The bars in Thailand have a short life span.  IMHO  I think they are all going to die out and the scene moved to the Internet. This is horrible for me as I like to see what I get before I get it. I don't like shopping on the Internet.  Every time I do, I get disappointed.

I believe certain NGOs, especially Christian church sponsored ones hate our lifestyle and are out to destroy any place

where sex occurs. In their mindset sex is evil and homosexual sex an abomination. We don't need to assist them on

gay Thailand forums.

I am at a disadvantage on this thread as I have the author on 'ignore' and am blissfully spared from his photos etc.

Thanks Michael for the 'ignore ' feature'.

My comments were in defense of Kokopelli and not in reference to the author, as I don't see what he posts. Kokopelli

let his curiosity get the better of him.

I am trying to understand where all the outrage was about photos being posted on The Tawan thread.

Can someone like Willie or KoKo explain it to me.  Think maybe that was the point Michael was getting at???

Fiddlestix! Sounds like shadowboxing, nothing I've seen on this thread suggests anything that would imply your wild suggestion, you've made a mountain out of a molehill. Frankliy, your being rather catty.

At the risk of causing further outrage amongst some, let's see if this short video clip works or not; never tried posting one before.

If it does work you should see a short clip of the 9pm BBB parade, if it doesn't you will at least be aware of what you missed LOL

No outrage at all, Vessey, I go there several times a week and it is great parade,  even better than the inside show.

I wasn't aware there was any outrage about photos posted on the Tawan thread. I checked them all out and they just seemed to be the typical muscle boy photos. Just another muscle boy contest.

Sure not the same as the kiss  and tell bedroom photos that some posters like to post about their amorous adventures. Michael can speak for himself to that issue. Sure don't recall him ever posting anything salacious in that regard.

The point is posting all those photos on a Gay Forum where one of its main objectives is paid sex.  Why were there no posts about the possibility of turning on the boys in Brown to raid the joint etc etc etc.

Naturally I am not suggesting there should have been , just wondering what the difference is between those posts . Maybe they don't want their photos posted on a Gay site or maybe Tawan is afraid.  Just saying. :mail:

Thanks for the video clip Vessey, brought back happy memories of sitting in Boyztown of an evening!

This thread is getting a bit bizarre with the news that some of the critics of Vessey's posts proclaiming that they have him on ignore anyway, thus meaning that they only have second hand accounts of the threads....perhaps keeping out of the discussion totally would be an idea then?

I detest those right-wing Christian campaigners as much as the next person, but when some of the establishments mentioned have facebook pages, I think the cat is rather rout of the bag already.

The str8 side of this is so open, with several forums (including some where Vessey posts accounts of his str8 activities, to considerably much more appreciation than he gets here) posting multiples of the threads here, and far more explicitly, that I think we are probably fairly far down the list.

I can't follow this thread as I have two of the posters on 'ignore', so I will bow out.

Ignorance is bliss, actually a truism. I'm spared from what I don't want to see and

whom I don't want to read. Some here should try putting weewilliewillie on 'ignore'.

Be that as it may, why post this?

I loved the video. Thank you.  Your last post was amazing and I have really enjoyed reading every post you have posted to date. Thank you for taking the time to inform us of your adventures and good times.

Thanks a lot for posting, my dear Vessey, from me as well. I really loved reading your reports, especially the explicit parts.

I'm looking forward to your next trip, much like Vit! ;)

Well I would obviously like to think that Vit was looking forward to  my next trip, and perhaps he is?

I keep in contact with him via social media, and he has recently had a traffic accident - a collision with a car he says - probably on his bike. Lots of pictures of bloody knees, bandages and 'no money for medicines' and not able to work for a week or so - and yes Vessey to the rescue with a little help from Western Union. It wouldn't surprise me to hear others had contributed as well - he seems to have a reasonable fan base despite all his 'Pattaya very quiet now, no customer' protestations.

I miss him of course!
