You can't go wrong at the Amor, Casa Pascal, or the Symphony Brasserie. Monty's Enchanted Hut is doing a Christmas dinner for 990 baht per person. Le Caf Quote

2lz2p Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I'm also giving it some thought on where to go for xmas dinner - last year I was disappointed with one of my favorite eating places -- served the regular cold buffet and dessert with choice of main course at abpit twice the usual price -- the only difference was the addition of turkey and dressing to the choice for main course. For the additional cost, I guess I expected something more -- more decorations, addition of traditional xmas dessert(s), etc. I may go to Cherry as I consider it one of the better restaurants - great food, well presented, and good service -- only drawback is not much ambiance (could be improved with dimming the lights a bit). Also, the cost is very very reasonable. The salad bar is basic, but good. A feature I do like is if you order an appitizer or soup, you are presented with a sorbet between it and the main course - nice touch. However, some expected companions are offering other suggestions. Quote

They also always give an "amuse bouche" whether you order a dinner special or from the regular menu. As for Christmas day, my reservation is up to five people now. If that's what they do, then I agree with you. I never did appreciate having dinners or anything else forced on me, especially the hotels that don't let you know they do that at the time you book the room. Quote

You are not forced to eat the dinner, just to pay the increased room rate for these days, which includes dinner. To be fair to LCR they do stipulate on their website that Christmas/New Year dinners are included in the increased room rates for these days. for aot87 - If you don't like it no-one is forcing you to stay there. You will find, howeever, that there are many hotels which have increased room rates, which include dinner, for the holiday dates. They are not confined to gay hotels either. Quote

I agree with snowcat thats its not only gay hotel hotels which charge you for xmas dinner, but i still think it a rip off .Its not like in western countries where there is increased costs invoved. I omitted to say that in spite of what I wrote, I too think it is a rip-off. Because the practise is so prevalent throughout hotels in the major tourists areas of Thailand it is one of the reasons I never visit the country over Xmas/New Year. Quote
