Guest blueshrimp Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Was in the area last night, so took a walk down Soi Twilight. Tuesday evening, around 8.00pm, so the place was fairly deserted. Even the ever-present Barkers were largely quiet. A couple of fully dressed boys standing outside the bar tried to get attention, but I wasn’t that interested. I had decided to check out Classic Boys at the end of the Soi, and was happy to let the Barker think he’d enticed me in. I took a seat on the upper row facing the stage, and was immediately accosted by the MamaSan, who wanted to say hello, find out my name, where I was from and take my drink order. I ordered a coke and settled in, and I guess because I was the only customer, the annoying MamaSan sat next to me, constantly trying to engage in conversation. Whereas I’d have wanted some time to check out the boys. There were about six boys on stage in the regulation white briefs. A few older guys, who don’t interest me, and a couple of younger twinks. One of these, a tall, thin boy, was making eye contact, so I asked the Mamasan about him. Apparently he was from Lao, and would do everything for me. I asked about off fees, and was told six hundred baht. I told the Mamasan that I wasn’t interested in offing a boy that night, but the Lao boy could come and sit with me for a bit. The Mamasan called him over, and it was obvious that he was new - he wasn’t sure of the way off the stage, and had to be shown by one of the bar boys. He came and sat next to me, a little nervously, covering his briefs with the cushion on the seat, but making a play of holding my hand. Very tempting - that feel of soft skin and an almost naked twinky boy against me - and the Mamasan could see I was aroused. “He do everything you want. Nice boy. He come Lao, has passport so OK”. The boy’s English was non existent, and I don’t speak Lao, so I asked the Mamasan to ask him how long he’d been in Thailand. “Two months”. He was thin - you could feel the bones of his shoulder, and curiously, the nails of the first two fingers on each hand were long. Not excessively, chinese long. But a good two inches. All the other nails were neatly trimmed. Now why do some boys do this? The bar boy brought the boy’s drink, another coke, and the Mamsan gave my boy the money slip which he put in his briefs. By now, I could easily have taken the boy. He was all over me, and wanting to make out. There was a definite arousal in those white briefs. My kind of boy. Very tempting. The Mamasan wouldn’t go away, wanting to talk all the time, and was telling me the boy would do short time now for me, he had room, and so on. The gentle touch of almost naked twinky boy on my arm, my hand, my leg, and I was almost sold! However, I was meeting friends in half an hour, so too short time, but gave the boy 200 baht tip and paid for our drinks - 700 baht for the two. The boy was still hopeful, but I smiled and told him another time. However, there's one weakness for me in gogo bars. Nice to watch the boys on stage for a few minutes. Even nicer to have one sitting next to you. But once the boy is there, and you both have a drink in front of you, what do you watch? Just the boys? The activity around the bar? I'd like to spend a good half hour or so just sitting with the boy, but it gets painfully boring just watching the other boys on stage, and maybe a little pointless, especially if there's a language barrier. And the Mamasan at Classic Boys constantly wants to talk. Very slow night for Soi Twilight, but a pleasant surprise to find a keen, new twinky Lao boy on stage. But why do they have those curiously long finger nails on the first and second fingers of each hand? Anyone know why? Is it just fashion? Palmistry? Quote
vinapu Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 But why do they have those curiously long finger nails on the first and second fingers of each hand? Anyone know why? Is it just fashion? Palmistry? thank you for a nice report I actually asked one of boys and answer was - to use long finger nails as toothpick Quote
Londoner Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I enjoyed the report, too, particularly since I'll be in Soi Twilight next week for two evenings before my boyfriend joins me. I was wondering whether Classic would be worth a visit but that mamasan has put me off. May I ask blueshrimp whether he saw much activity in the host-bars? Quote
Guest blueshrimp Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 May I ask blueshrimp whether he saw much activity in the host-bars? Very little, but (a) it had been raining heavily all day, always a downer here, (b) it was Tuesday, © it was only around 8.00pm. I was wondering whether Classic would be worth a visit but that mamasan has put me off. Don't let the bu**ers put you off - it's the same in most gogos. Easily dealt with. I was very curious about what he might do next, so curiosity overcame irritation. But in the end, I told him bluntly I wanted a few minutes on my own. He went, putting out his hand for a tip, and I told him he probably earned more than me, and laughed. He went. I quite like Classic because they have a reputation for twinks, but the collection on that night was a real bunch of curiosities. The problem with visiting gogo bars is that you need to buy a drink in each at an inflated price, which can get costly. Pot luck, as is so often the case. But, in my view, preferable to the lottery on Romeo or Hornet, and infinitely preferable to the constant whinging for money from some Romeo guys. Quote
witty Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Go go bars want your money, Mamasans want your money, Hornet guys want your money, Romeo guys want your money. But at least you get to inspect the agogo boys. In the end, it's all about money & your desire. vinapu and ChristianPFC 2 Quote
Londoner Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 The gogo bars are usually so empty nowadays that a punter is likely to find himself alone or at best with a few others to share the unwanted attention of mamasans. I know when I'm in for a bad time when the doorman sees me about to enter and rushes into the bar clapping his hands to rouse the dancers from their slumbers....and their mobiles. In these circumstances, I feel as if I am the centre of attention and should be the one on the stage. Unbearable! that's why I prefer the host bars in Soi Twilight- where the drinks cost a lot less. llz and ChristianPFC 2 Quote
Guest whall Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I hated hated being the only one in the gogo bars. Unbearable. Felt so uncomfortable and the mamasans are so annoying. Maybe I should try the host bars next time. Quote
Londoner Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 The advantage is that you can take a good look before sitting down. The disadvantage is that there aren't so many guys available- though those that are tend to speak some English. Quote

The Classic Boys mamasans are the worst I know of, but since the bar usually has the nicest boys, I keep going there and being well prepared to send mamasans away. As advised previously, enjoy the gogo bars and don't let the b*ggers get you down. Also, save your tips for the boys and not one baht for the mamasans if they behave like that. Quote

Could Londoner, or anyone else pls, explain how the Host Bars thing works? I'm new to this. I understand the gogo thing - you choose a boy, pay the fee, and have the fun. But how do you choose a boy in the host bar? How does it all work? Sit down, buy a drink, and wait? Quote

faranglaw Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 If it had been me, I would have called those friends I had an appointment with and cancelled, telling them something has come up. Actually, it sounds like TWO somethings came up! ChristianPFC 1 Quote
ChristianPFC Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I have no problem being the only customer in a bar, and can deal with mamasan. But at only 6 boys on stage, I would have made an excuse and left (unless there is a stunner). I have seen long fingernail on pinkie, but not on two fingers of one hand. Long fingernail is a turn-off for me. It might be a statement of being hi-so, not having to do manual work because that would be impossible such long fingernails. "But once the boy is there, and you both have a drink in front of you, what do you watch?" I do all the watching before I invite a boy. When I invite a boy, it's for a touch and a minute of small talk, and then I off him and we are out, often even without buying a drink for the boy. That is 350 for soft drink and 600 off fee in Classic, makes 950 (without boy drink and before tipping the boy). Online you can get a boy for 1000 to come to your room (and indeed that's what I have been doing this year). bucknaway and llz 2 Quote
Guest blueshrimp Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Yep, online hookups cheaper, but often boys not as described. Had a good few duds, including long time boy who slept the whole night in his clothes! Quote

Had a good few duds, including long time boy who slept the whole night in his clothes! but this can happen with bar boys too. I offed once dreamboy from Dreamboys who turned out to be by far worst off in my long and busy life and threw him out after 40 minutes because he refused to shower , not to mention undress. kokopelli Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Pls could someone explain how the host bar works? I understand the gogo bar, but how do you select a boy in a host bar? That may be easy or difficult. Often times one will sit next to you and strike up a conversation while other times you will be ignored. In Jomtien Complex/Pattaya it is often the case to be ignored once enticed to sit down and order a drink. It pays not to be shy and initiate contact with one of the hosts who is of interest to you. Some host bars are more friendly than others, meaning they may have their hands on you! I have seen some kissing sessions that were long and passionate. Are you in Bangkok or Pattaya or where? neddy 1 Quote
kokopelli Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 So you're chatting up the waiter? That's it? All depends on what you want? If you just want to chat and drink or what? If they are not required to be there then they are all off-able. Many are freelancers. Quote
ChristianPFC Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Not every boy in host bars is offable. Scorpion bar in Soi Twilight (mainly Vietnamese) has a particular bad reputation (or is it just my own particular bad memory from around 2014 when I found the boy of my dreams there, to find out that he doesn't go with customers?). (In gogo bars, I always got the boy I wanted.) Quote
Moses Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 So you're chatting up the waiter? That's it? They are more than waiters - they are hosts. Primary job is care and entertain you. They will not sit (usually) to your table without your invitation. When you will take your place most of them will watch you and it will be enough to smile and to nod to one of them as a signal to join your company. Boy will expect some drinks and tips at the end if you will not off him (usually I tip boy 100 baht per each 30 min he spends with me). Host bars have lower prices for drinks, many drinks can cost less than 100 baht. The great difference btw go-go and host bars is what most of boys in host bars are able to speak English. kokopelli 1 Quote
