Guest ryanasia Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 So on another site people asked about the service from PD. I use them all the time and they have very good quality products over all. They deliver nationwide and everything will be packaged and well presented upon delivery. I live in Bangkok so I can't speak as to other places about delivery but they use dry ice and I have never heard anybody complain. Their service is very professional, they will follow up and make sure your order was okay and in good condition. Their products are very tasty and if you shop for many similar products in a supermarket they aren't available or the price is very competitive. I order from them about once a week and because of the quality I make food at home much more often than I go out to eat. They have some great wines on offer and the price isn't that much more than a owly bottle of Jacob's Creek at 7/11. I found some of the Thai wines they offer interestingly enough are better than many French or Italian makes. The 2013 Heritage Syrah Viognier from Thailand which is more expensive than some of it's European contemporaries is superb. If you haven't tried Thai wines recently give them another shot. The wine industry is leaps and bounds ahead of what it was just a year or two ago. They have a small but decent selection of sake. The Tamagawa range is good and if you are getting seafood the super dry is a particularly good match. They lack on the poultry and pork side of meats but all of their lamb and beef products are superb. Any of the Sloane's line as far as bacon or sausage go are fantastic. The cheese is hit and miss and you well find something you like. I recommend the double Gloucester and the Yogi Feta that comes packed freshly in brine. The only frozen meals I like from them are the sausage rolls and lamb pasties. The pastry on them is as good as any pub would serve. The drinks you order will be delivered chilled and ready to serve at least in the Bangkok area. This is a nice touch. The prices are not cheap but if you go to compare them to the offerings at Villa or Gourmet market they come in below or the same for what you are getting. Over all it is a nice service with very proactive customer service. If anything is ever wrong they will replace it no questions asked. Maybe that is wrong they will ask what is wrong but will replace it regardless. All in all i find it a welcome addition to the food scene in Bangkok and it saves me a lot of trips to Villa these days. Quote
Guest ryanasia Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Weird I didn't mean to make a hot link to the wine I mentioned but it did it anyway. Quote
Guest cdnmatt Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Thanks for the wrie up, and appreciate it. I was the one on the other forum asking about it. Never knew it even existed until I see one of their ads pop up in my Facebook feed one day. Haven't gotten around to trying them yet, but maybe will soon. Glad you basically have nothing but positive comments regarding their quality of food and service. Have you tried lobster from them at all? If so, how was it? That's the one thing I have my eye on the most, because where I am, lobster simply doesn't exist, or at least not that I've seen. Quote
Guest ryanasia Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I am not a big fan of lobster and got one on a promotion a long time ago. The taste was good and can't blame that at all but seemed like a lot of work for the little meat inside. If you look at the weights you will see they are not huge lobsters. The owner tells me he will probably be stocking live lobsters soon. So I am not sure how many of them you would need to cook up to get full. I had the Atlantic lobster and can't comment on the Maine lobster. I did mine with some Kobe beef and did a Japanese style teppanyaki turf and surf. For this it works well enough but couldn't imagine trying to make a complete meal out of just lobster. It is the first lobster I have had in over 20 years so I am not a good judge of what lobster should be like. As I said the taste is good but the lobsters are on the small side. Quote
Alexx Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I haven't tried Passion Delivery yet, I don't usually eat at home and I do kind of like the sensation of seeing, smelling and touching the merchandise at a brick and mortar (super) market. But it's interesting to read about positive experiences anyway; at some point ordering something might come in handy for me, too. Have you tried lobster from them at all? If so, how was it? That's the one thing I have my eye on the most, because where I am, lobster simply doesn't exist, or at least not that I've seen. Seriously? Is Udon Thani really that far ahead of Khon Kaen nowadays? I would have guessed that you have at least one decent Tops plus one Villa Market. Quote
Guest cdnmatt Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Seriously? Is Udon Thani really that far ahead of Khon Kaen nowadays? I would have guessed that you have at least one decent Tops plus one Villa Market. We don't have any Villa Markets here, at least not that I've ever seen. We have a pretty nice Tops inside of Central, which is where I usually go, but it definitely doesn't have things like lobster or lamb. However, it does have various things I can't get elsewhere -- Australian rib-eye, Norwegian salmon, ground beef, bell peppers, celery (sometimes), parmasean cheese, sour cream, various pasta and spices, etc. As far as I know, if there are things like lobster in Khon Kaen, they have to be at a speciality store I don't know about yet.
