This is why seats are empty coupled with price gouging.

Let's not even get into the state of the athlete village or the presiding president going through impeachment procedures.

Posted

Old BS.  The athlete village is fine .  Netherlands had a problem on arrival and went to a `Hotel and 2 days later moved back into the Village where most of the competitors stay.

Trying to make things worse then they have been is just ridiculous . And as far the President being impeached better then the country you are living in where the military has to take over the country over and over again because of complete corruption.

Yes in many ways it is a 3rd world country who should never have been given the Olympics but they are on their way to pulling it off without any serious incidents. Just imagine if it was Thailand trying to put on that kind of event.

Now it appears that the story of the four swimmers about allegedly being assaulted was a hoax.  Instead they vandalized a gas station and were confronted by security.

Some days ago a big boss of the olympics organization was arrested on charges of profiteering with ticket scalpers.  Some time ago (years?) some heads of this olympic committee were indicted on some frauds.

This year I rate my experience of watching the games at a new low.  I record the videos from NBC, and I do nothing but fast-forward and delete most of them, disgusted by all the advertisement crap, comments and boring stuff in them.  Men's gymnastics and diving so far have been the fewest shown, but long boring games are everywhere.  I am tired of seeing these cockless US gymnasts that won gold medals all over the media.  I wish them good luck, but I'm not interested.

Many poor and modest people were hurt in Rio by the setup of the games. I find the olympic games full of corruption and other negatives.  I wish the athletes would have another venue to show their skills and get recognition.  At least, the olympics should not be a PRIVATE business but maybe something administered by the UN. (this would give the organization something positive to exist on)

And about the crime in Rio,  it seems that the Olympic Games did fit right in with it...

Well they sent death squads to make sure they wouldn't embarrass themselves ahead of time.

Interesting how you never reply when you make ridiculous assertions and someone calls you on them.

Throw in a sentence about impeaching the President and don't reply to the fact that Thailand does not impeach, they just send the military to take over the GOVT. Which do you think is better?

If any Govt should not be able to criticize another government , Thailand would be near the top of the list.

I was in Thailand during 2 of the coups and it was not a pretty place.

I cited accurate facts. The PM of Thailand isn't going to be impeached, seats are empty and the pool is green or was. What did I say that is not factual?

You are entitled to your opinion. I will continue to write trip reports for places I visit etc until I see that nobody views them or makes positive comments .

Just because this site is called Gay Thailand does not mean that there is not interest in other parts of the world . Most of the members here travel to other places , some to do with Sex and some because they have the finances and desire to see other parts of the world.

There are posts here that I have absolutely no interest in and I simply do not click on them . I would never think to tell someone they are not allowed to post them. Maybe the owner could do that but neither I or any other member has that right.

I may comment on them negatively but I don't think I ever told someone they had no right to start the topic.

Yes. Definitely post about other places. I love hearing about other good places to travel for sex.

You just don't know what you are talking about. I have been to 2 Olympics.  You have to buy ticket packages which  means you pay for events that have no broad interest and which I did not attend and so those type of events you will see lots of empty seats.

There are no empty seats at BB, Swimming, Gymnastics, Soccer etc.  The seats in front of most of those venues or for Officials.special guests etc and when their country is not competing the seats are empty.

Bottom line you just don't know what you are talking about.  I love Thailand but they would be hard pressed to put on a Major Tennis Tournament. And the government such as it is = Military Generals who can't even agree when to allow the citizens to vote.

Tell me about the pool these things are factual.

Nothing defensive about it. You throw out a bunch of BS hoping nobody notices it is BS.  I would say the same thing if you throw out BS about Thailand but when you try to throw out BS about a country you have never been in , then it is just BS.

It's like a friend telling me about how dangerous Thailand is to visit because of the coups, riots . They are ignorant and you are ignorant about Brazil and things like tickets for the Olympics etc.

Not incompetence. They ran out of money to buy the chemicals. The IOC are the incompetent ones for giving the Olympics to a 3rd world country.

Thanks for not awarding it to Chicago..............our own example of a third world country.  The world press would have won the lottery in covering a Chicago Olympics which was planned to occur on the "south-side" and the graft & corruption which would have occurred in its organization and construction. See http://heyjackass.com/ for the latest Chicago stats.  Knowing where and when and how to walk is a basic survival skill in every city of the world.

My point is that most urban areas of the world have an epidemic of crime which, I think, can only be solved with education and teaching a person a skill which has a value which can be sold in the marketplace.

I've completely boycotted the Olympics this time around and have no regrets whatsoever. Not because of the host country or city, however, but because of all the doping and corruption crap the IOC is infamous for. They are so far removed from the ideals these games supposedly stand for that I really don't see any attraction anymore.

That a bunch of top athletes from the US considers it appropriate to make up a story about being robbed tops it off. If they actually filed a false police report, I hope they will spend some quality time at one of Brazil's prisons. I'm sure Mr Lochte would be quite popular. ;)

They have a lot bigger problem then that .   Boat races etc were held in polluted waters . If anyone fell in it would have been a problem. Again no money!

money went to pay for 2000$ a night suites for IOC officials I guess. Whole Olympic business is rotten to the core IMHO and sooner or later they need to start whole idea from scratch before public will lose all interest in the  games.

We already had few cities voting to abandon Olympic bids / Munich , Stockholm , Krakow /.

rest comfortably assured you are not alone with boycott on this forum.

My parents used to take vacations to watch on TV  games in Tokyo, Mexico , Munich and Montreal, now 40 years later  my total time spent watching games so far is ZERO, reason exactly one you  specified so eloquently.

Fuck IOC !

WTF with American young adults? A very sorry state...

To cover one misdemeanor/mischief, they fabricated the robbery incident.

That is such a disgrace and I hope the medals from the 4 will be confiscated and they will be banned from competitions for a couple of years.  By the time the suspension ends, they will be too old to compete.

We don't know the story yet about the swimmers. But, if the manager of the gas station had his security pull a gun, IMHO, it is the same thing.

I have been robbed at gun point 2 times in Brazil and another time by the Federal Police at a traffic stop during Carnival.  I still go there as I love the place. But, I never reported the incidences to the police. Why? They are in on it!

Posted

I think we pretty much know it now that all the video has been released both at the gas station and the returning jerks going thru securities at the Village with their phones , wallets etc and laughing .

I don't blame Brazil for going after them . The young ones should be banned for the next Olympics IMHO . Lochte will suffer in the pocketbook as all his sponsors will run away from him and it will cost him millions.

Here is a pretty even handed report by a respected US journalist. Certainly Brazil is a 3rd world country with a corrupt government but with a few days to go they have pulled off a successful Olympics ( which I seriously doubted they could) which is and will continue to be the biggest event in the World every 4 years.

Hopefully the corrupt IOC will never return to a 3rd world country.

Not all American young adults have this behavior.

Some successful young people do very stupid things.  This Lochte surely never dreamed of the repercussion his false accusation would bring.  It did great damage to the reputation of the host country Brazil. I myself pointed an accusatory finger on the Brazilians and saw confirmation of the idea that crime is high there.   Their grave mistake should have consequences.

The Brazilian justice should have the opportunity to judge their actions and impose a sentence.  About Lochte who run away and is now in the US out of reach of Brazilian justice, he should be given the option of returning to Rio and face the judge or lose his medal and be banned from the Olympics, either in the next  game or for life.

Hopefully the corrupt IOC will be discarded by the world community of nations by not offering them any venue for future games. And this community of nations should replace the IOC with a consortium of governments who will administer the Olympics to continue this stage for their athletes.

Ryan is a jerk.  Michael Phelps was a jerk, figured things out, and is now on top of his world. Ryan will probably not meet justice in Brazil but his endorsement future will suck air.

To answer the question posed by the creator of this thread you don't hear much about Brazil on this forum because it is supposed to be about gay Thailand. I have been to Thailand many times and in 3 weeks I leave for my 9th visit to Brazil. I went on my first visit to Brazil in 2005. Friends convinced me to go and told me stories of the rent boy saunas in Rio and Sao Paulo and I did a lot of internet searching. I recall comments on Brazil travel sites such as ''I thought posters must have been exaggerating but on entering the rent boy sauna I thought I had died and gone to heaven'' or another I recall from a poster who ''felt like a kid in a candy store''. The only ''problem'' is the place is very addictive. Lagoa in Sao Paulo is truly out of this world.

Nice for someone else who has been to Brazil to chime in. However since there are at a minimum of 5 members who have been to Brazil multiple times, I wonder if there are more who just never bother posting.

This is certainly not the first thread started on Brazil and this site may be called Gaythailand but there have been hundreds of threads on other countries so the name does not restrict the fact that basically this site exists to discuss SEX.
