firecat69 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 I have met boys far better looking then their photos. The good thing about the apps is I can look at 100's of possibilities in a few minutes. Far more then I will ever see in a Bar. I still go to the Bars but where as they used to provide 100% of my offs, now they are lucky to make 25 % and I have lots of money left over not wasted on over priced and water down drinks. I recognize that many don't like the apps because they are not personal enough. Different strokes! My trips over the years have become 30 days minimum and mostly 60 days . The more time I spend in Bars the less I like them thus the Apps are of great use to me. If you visit for 7-10 days, I get that the Bars are preferable. I also get that those members who make massages a large part of their sex partners are certainly better off going to massage places. Quote
Guest ryanasia Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 I have also met boys that look like crackheads when they show up. Online you never know what you are getting. Anyway personal preferences aside Amsterdam is less fun with out the boy bars it had before. I get most my boys online now but it is still fun to prowl the bar scene now and again. I find the boys understand what I want online easier as well and this is convenient. My percentage of offs is probably the same as yours these days. Anyway the bars have already priced themselves out and are dying on their own anyway. Taking away the red lights if it were to happen takes away a part of Bangkok. You mention Amsterdam but although the sex scene is found online it isn't at all the same place. If we weren't a bunch of rice queens there would be no reason to leave home as the apps are wildly popular everywhere. Some people not even really into Asians still come to see the famous entertainment zones here. I don't think we actually really disagree by much anyway just adding a few more thoughts. The red lights do more for bangkok than just purely sex, the instant gratification is what the apps are for. Quote
firecat69 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Well let's not forget about money. I love Thai boys but I love white twinks also . Unfortunately those white twinks are anywhere from 5-10 x as much. If they were twice as much and 16 hours closer to me in silver tube travel, likely I would spend a lot of time in Amsterdam or Prague. The other things the economies in those countries are much better then it is for a large % of Thailand which means there are less twinks available. If I go on the Apps in Amsterdam and as an older (70) Gay man send out 100 messages , I will be lucky to get 10 replies. In Thailand I will get 90. Quote
Guest ryanasia Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Yeah money aside the twinks in Europe and the USA aren't that pleasant to deal with, Quote
abidismaili Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Question for those using Hornet, Gayromeo etc in Pattaya. What radius do you look in? I quit scanning profiles as soon as I see '5 km away'. Certainly for 10 km or more it is I think pointless to contact such a boy. How do your guys do that and does it occur often you contact a boy from more than 5 km away? Quote
abidismaili Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Yeah money aside the twinks in Europe and the USA aren't that pleasant to deal with, I have the idea in Thailand you can almost assume the boys to be money boys on the apps. The twinks in Europe are mostlily just looking for gays their own age. You can not assume at all they are money boys. So how do you do that for white twinks you see in the apps in Europe? Your first question is: "Are you a money boy? What is your prize?" That question I omit in Thailand always because I just assume them to be money boys (at least for the range I am looking in: twinks, age 18-25). So how do your guys do it who are looking for white twink prositutes in Europe? How to detect one in the apps? Quote
firecat69 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 I don't necessarily agree with that. Although my experiences in the last few years is certainly much less then Asia , I have met Hot and service oriented boys in Madrid, Barcelona,Kracow, Lisbon. And only once have I sent someone away when he showed up at my door not being the boy in the photos. But they were harder to hook up with then it is in Thailand and they were 21/2 -6x as expensive. Guest ryanasia Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 put a picture of Euros in your profile on a sexy pic. The pic doesn't have to be pornographic so all users can see it. Problem solved they will know what you want. Quote

Certainly for 10 km or more it is I think pointless to contact such a boy. How do your guys do that and does it occur often you contact a boy from more than 5 km away? I pay no attention in Pattaya. If they are anywhere in Pattaya they are at most 30 minute baht bus ride or 20 minute motorbike. Really spend no attention in BKK because I find many of the boy may be at home in outskirts of BKK but work closer to the city. So still worth a contact. I do pay more attention in Big European cities but even there better transportation systems allow boys to cover a lot of ground. Madrid I stayed on the outskirts closer to the airport and had no problems getting boys to come although sometimes they used the distance to ask for a bit more money. Quote
a447a Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Firecat, what prices are the guys chasing in Krakow and Madrid? I'm heading off to Europe next month and will try out the apps. Quote
firecat69 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Madrid was 80-100 Euros and Poland was 250-350 Zloty. Quote
Guest ryanasia Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 You had luck in Poland? i lived there around 2 years and boy the scene was pretty dire. You had to ring doorbells and would be lucky to get in some places if they knew you were foreign. Poland is about the most xenophobic place I have ever lived but if anybody is going there it is a place i know pretty well. It is dirt cheap and there are a surprising amount of places to see that nobody has ever heard of. I guess Firecat is into the internet scene but if you go to gay bars be careful and stay aware. Eating and drinking good food and beer is dirt cheap for what you get there. To keep on topic if Thailand bans the sex industry it will look more like Poland where everything is underground. At least it was back in 2005 when I lived there. Quote
firecat69 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Ancient History I am afraid. Poland is not like that any more although I cannot comment on Gay Bars. I find Gay Bars a waste of time in all of Europe. If I was 30-40 years old , maybe I'd feel different although many years ago I found no interest in Black and White Bar in Madrid . The people in Poland are friendly and they love tourists. Warsaw is ok but Kracow is just a great little city undamaged by the War. I would not call it a Gay destination but a wonderful place to visit as a tourist looking for value. On balance I found Spain much better place to use the Apps. vinapu 1 Quote
Guest whall Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 This scares me if this happened. Thailand would be a less fun place to go. Plus the economic fallout would just hurt so many people beyond the sex workers. The vast majority are such nice people. Quote

Guest ryanasia Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 what country would try destroy sector which according to the article contributes of 10% GDP ? but they may try unfortunately There is no doubt that the numbers are wrong. We did the math and at 123,000 sex workers it worked out to be around $325,000 per year per sex worker. It simply doesn't add up. 40 billion dollars a year is 10%. On the bright side at least the guy on the story is saving only the girls it seems. Quote
Guest abang1961 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 SEX Sells Along with sex tourism, the main bulk of money comes from expenditures incurring in hotel rooms, retail stores and restaurants. Surely we pay more for our accommodation than the pittance we give to the sex workers. Every small bits from farangs add up to the 10% GDP (the very same money that luckless woman, YINGLUCK used to subsidize rice farmers?) **I am using the pronoun "we" freely here although I have yet to be a paying client. Quote
Guest ryanasia Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I sincerely doubt that it adds up to $40 billion a year from sex tourism. Although we will probably never find out for sure. If it adds up to even 1% it would still be significant and could make the difference between growth and recession. Locally it would make a huge difference of course. Quote
vinapu Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 You both ryan and abang are correct. 10% is overoptimistic although all other expenses are adding up on top of what we pay to the workers. All those whorers are drinking , eating , shopping, sleeping and sightseeing. Remove girls and boys from Pattaya and city would shrink since it's known as sex capital of the world but when comes to beaches it's very provincial and vere few would come to gawk at ruins of Walking Street or Boyztown. Quote
Guest ryanasia Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 There are for practical purposes no beaches there. Quote
bucknaway Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I can see the jomtien complex becoming the model for gay bars when gogo and massage places are being leaned on by the authorities. I wonder when the war on gay saunas will begin anew... Quote
