TotallyOz Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I am looking for a nice apartment in a nice area but do not want to be in the "middle of everything" in the city. I am looking for a nice area but reasonable prices. The only requirement I have is that it be near a Skytrain station. I like being able to whip into and out of Siam Paragon. I am tired of taking taxi's and spending a great deal of time trying to get places via cars. I like the Thonglor area. But, I am open to any area. A friend lives near Bang Na and likes it. Another near Nana but Nana is too hectic for me. Any suggestions? Quote
DivineMadman Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Ari is a nice. I lived there a couple of years ago and really liked it. It has a good number of newer high rise buildings, and a big new building is going up now, which might hold prices down. It's a pretty diverse neighborhood - younger Thais, a good number of expats. Very family friendly. Some very good restaurants, coffee shops, sushi. More upscale, and laid back, than Saphan Kwai, which is the next stop out, but you do have all the chaotic fun of the Saphan Kwai neighborhood right there. TotallyOz 1 Quote
firecat69 Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 No doubt in my mind Ratchadamri. 1 stop to Siam and anywhere you want to go on Sukhumvit. 2 stops to MBK. 1 stop to Saladaeng , short walk down Silom and over to Soi Twiligt. Love the Skytrain but prefer to keep the number of stops to a minimum. This would be the area for me. TotallyOz 1 Quote

Funny enough, I did not venture into the gay zone as I was nursing a bedbug-infected rash caught in Pattaya. If you want somewhere quiet yet convenient, try the areas beyond Siam Skytrain... places like Ari is pretty much suburban in Bangkok context. Quote

It's Bangkok, isn't everywhere in the middle of everything? :-) I stayed at the Hansar on my last visit which is near the St. Regis and Ratchadamri noted above and the street was surprisingly quiet. The walk to Central World is even not so bad from there if the weather isn't oppressive. I did ride the BTS from way out near the end at Udom Suk back into the city when I went to visit Rama IX park. Still some expats living way out there of course. But the ride back to the center takes a while. And it's quite a different sort of feel. TotallyOz 1 Quote

No the rash was not all the horrible ...I apply lots of lotion and olive oil for 2 days and the rash was gone. Now, I am ready for the sun again. Quote

How you recognize that they are the cause of a rush? Quote
