Rest in Peace, Bill; your prose  will surely last another 400 years.

 

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimmed;

Nor shall death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to Time thou grow’st.

On this date — April 23, 1616 — the creator of “Hamlet,” “Macbeth” and

“Romeo and Juliet” left the beauty of this world. To us, he bequeathed his
tragedies and comedies, his sonnets and verse, which would survive 400 years.

I second your commemoration of the passing away of Shakespeare.

What an amazing person!  His prose will surely last as long as our civilization.

And his legacy is not only his perfect dramas and other works,

but all the subsequent art that was based on them.

He inspired fantastic music with his "Midsummernights Dream",

his "Romeo and Juliet", "Silvia" of Gentlemen of Verona, etc.

I know, because it's my own birthday, along with Shirley Temple, Roy Orbison, and the Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. Oh, and James Buchanan, the only "bachelor"(nudge, nudge...) US President, thought by many historians to have been the worst of the lot. And that's quite an accomplishment.
