You have any idea how much that costs, since bowling in Thailand is the same as the USA. Plus buy them food and Beer for the whole night.

 

That was the deal. How many boys do you think would die for that deal, rather then stay in their dreary Bar hoping for an off.

 

And by the way in many cases boys had not met their minimum offs for the month so that off was worth a lot to them.

 

Did they sometimes get a little extra ( probably). Do you think any one of them would not have jumped at the chance to go if they knew know baht would be given.  Not a one!

 

Every case is individual and as long as the boy knows the deal in advance , nothing else needs to be said.

As someone that has an (unfair!) reputation for partying I am often asked by boys for a "no tip off", as per FCs post above.... the boys simply want someone to sponsor a party for the night

 

If it's past midnight I tell the boy(s) to come and join us in the NAB/Tumnan Issan at 1 when their work is finished

 

If its earlier in the night then I pay their off(s) and we all go to Morlam/Hollywood/Tumnan Chon and end up in NAB/Tumnan Issan later.

 

These guys are previously known to me (friend, friend of friend, friendly staff, ex-off, ex-gik etc) and simply want a night out and are happy for the sponsorship. As per my earlier post they get their drink, food and 1-200B at end of night for transport home.

 

Those that ask for a greater tip for "their company" at the end of the night never get invited again... despite what some people think, it is possible to have Thai friends that are happy to be your friend and not get paid (and even Thai boys that come home for free with no tip expectations either)

 

Note: Boys that are offed because BF or I fancy them do get a tip... but those that have asked to join our gang for a free night certainly get nothing beyond generous taxi money

I have hung out with Thais both paid and free. The free ones usually are office workers who have other office worker friends who can hang out and I just tag along, sometimes even get my drinks paid. But usually I offer to pay more because I want to. 

 

Never had the experience of hanging out with a mix of free and paid boys.  Maybe never the twain shall meet? Not sure about the politics or societal stigma non-sex workers have with their sex worker brethren. I'm guessing there is some stigma? Or maybe not.

 

Its funny this thread I started as prep for my April trip I may need for my September trip. I have a chance to do this again (the no-sex off).

This is pretty much my experience along with Firecat's post about bowling. If you are providing the food and booze and entertainment you aren't going to pay every boy for a large group. It would simply be economically unviable for most people. I am going to guess that many people would do like I do and probably have the boy they really want and allow him to choose some others. I don't know too many boys that would sit in the bar when it is empty compared to go out bowling and drinking with all of their friends. 

 

Paying guys that I have no particular interest in to come bowling or play pool or eat is somewhat crazy in my opinion. If they feel they are going to benefit from staying in the bar they are more than welcome to do so. I know when I was a boy guys took out boys and I tagged along sometimes and I did not expect a tip. If one was offered it was great but on a quiet night you just write it off and go where the fun times are being had.

With Thai boys and drinking food will always without exception appear. The boys don't go home hungry. Many of the bars supply rooms to stay in and meals.
