numazu Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 So this time next week my BF and I will be flying from LAX to BKK for Songkran and the GCircuit party, and me going to Phuket after that. So I have THREE questions in this post. Bear with me while I try to put some context to every one: 1. How much tip would be appropriate for a gogo boy who just sits with us for the whole gogo show? My BF and I will be having about 4 nights alone together before our friends fly into BKK to hang out with us. It is my BF’s first time in BKK and he wants to see why I like going to gogo bars so much (I think he’ll figure it out the minute we step into Soi Twilight), so we intend to go to a gogo bar with a show on all those 4 nights (Dreamboys, Tawan, Hotmale, Jupiter possibly). Since we are not into threesomes, and we have no intention of offing anyone for ourselves (but you never know, it is after all Thailand), we are OK with just seeing the show, but I thought it would be nice to have a boy sit with us for the whole show, and then tipping him after the show and not offing him. How much would the appropriate tip be for the boy? 100 baht? 500 baht? I want to be fair to the boy. Bear in mind: a. he will be sitting with us in underwear for at least an hour during the show b. if he is with us, he will potentially miss some customers who would want to off him c. we would like to talk to him, touch him, hold his hand etc d. we will buy him his drink or two, we don’t care 2. Do some gogo bars provide alternate drinks, i.e. a bottle of whiskey or vodka, and we can share this with a boy or two, and maybe some bar food like peanuts, so we can socialize with the gogo boys this way? How much with this be? I’ve seen this happen in Tawan, Dreamboys BKK and Boyzboyzboyz Pattaya, where some guy (always an Asian – chinese or thai not sure) has a bottle of whiskey etc and is sharing his drinks with gogo boys and all the boys flock to him. I think this would be fun, since we like to drink, and I think it would not be too expensive to do this (I’m pretty sure it’ll be cheaper than a typical WeHo clubbing night for us). I’d still want to tip the boys who partake of the drinks and food with us. 3. What if we had a boy sit with us and we decide to “off” him and take him to DJ Station or G.O.D. and/or go for food, but not have sex with him, is this unheard of, and if it’s not, how much is the tip? I figure the tip would be the same as a short time tip, even if there is no sex. We can also be upfront with the boy and tell him that we just want to dance/eat with him and not have sex, and agree on a price, but I wanted to see if anyone here has any experience with this kind of off. The boy will be leaving us once we go back to the hotel. I just want my BF to have a good time with me at the gogo bars in BKK, and would like him to have at least some interaction with the gogo boys. I know that he would not be into offing a boy for himself or for a threesome (knowing him as I do all these years), but I will not be opposed to it if it happens. Regardless, I am just glad that my BF is finally seeing BKK with me. Any input would be appreciated! ChristianPFC 1 Quote

What if we had a boy sit with us and we decide to “off” him and take him to DJ Station or G.O.D. and/or go for food, but not have sex with him, is this unheard of, and if it’s not, how much is the tip? if I'm keeping boy for the whole show I give him 200, sometimes more if he initiates some intimacies other than hand holding but I do not like those activities in the open so don't partake but may compensate him for trying. I make sure he knows that I will not be offing him and he can leave if he sees potential with other patron. if you off him during bar hours just for company I think he still deserves at least short time tip as you depriving him a chance of getting one. Outside of bar hours I'd negotiate 300-500 depending on length of time and if no intimacies other than discrete hand holding are extracted from the boy. It may be just me but for type 3. activities I'd off only boy I offed or at least had sitting with me before, not a total novice for me Quote
DivineMadman Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 My 2 baht worth: 1. Boy sits with you. The usual playful touching. You say you're buying him a drink or possibly 2. He typically gets 50 baht each drink and the mamasan is happy. Tip him 100 for his time and he's happy. If he sits with you a long long time, of course tip more and he's happier. 500 way too much. If he's sitting with you during the show as a practical matter that's his down time and I wouldn't worry about his opportunity cost of lost offs. 2. Drink set-ups. As you say, you see it in the bars a lot. I've seen it done by westerners. Don't know how much it costs but they'll be thrilled to set up a cart and bring in food. Was recently at Hot Male (with Paulsf) and one of these set ups was going on up front and the host had a wad of 100s conveniently stuffed right in the check bin, so could pull them out and tip dancers, singers, boys. X-Size has a bell you can ring to tip all the boys. Never seen it. Can't imagine how much it costs. Bet it's funny to see. 3. The no-sex off. Same as finding out what he does in bed. Just say what you have in mind (e.g., "go to DJ and then grab a bite") and ask the guy. He may say the same as his regular price because thats his rate and that's that or he may say something less. I think we customers sometimes think that it should be less because, well, sex is more work for him or is less pleasant. But he might not 'think too much" and instead he might have a basic I get paid for my time approach. So I certainly wouldn't expect him to agree to less than normal rate, but would not be surprised if he quotes a smaller number. Personally I wouldn't barter down the price, because that just seems tacky to me. Also a very good chance he just says, "Great, I'll see you there after work." Also, understand he may have time issues - a short-time off with a tediously boring farang like me and he he knows he can be home to his wife (or whatever) after a couple of hours max (more realistically 20 minutes ;)). A fun evening at DJ and then awesome street food at 3:00 in the morning is obviously a lot more TIME. All this assumes that you want the paid companionship or arm candy. During Songkran -- and then when you add on the circuit parties -- it's very easy to meet up and socialize with lots of guys, including the working guys. Talk to the guy and you might find that one evening he and his friends are going to RCA for a street party (or wherever) and you're welcome to go too. Those experiences can be great fun. ggobkk, paulsf and vinapu 3 Quote
kokopelli Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 a. he will be sitting with us in underwear for at least an hour during the show b. if he is with us, he will potentially miss some customers who would want to off him c. we would like to talk to him, touch him, hold his hand etc d. we will buy him his drink or two, we don’t care Since both you and your bf will be touching the go-go dancer, then each of you should tip 100 Baht. Likewise both you and your bf should tip the waiter for your drinks. Quote
ChristianPFC Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I think 100 Baht is fine, and opposed to above post I think one of you should do all the tipping, and tip only once even if you are two. Talk with the boy? Bear in mind that the music might be loud (I simply refuse to have a conversation above the absolute minimum when it is too loud), he might not speak English well, and staff might pester you to to the boy or another off or buy more drinks. Sharing bottle of whisky is common and probably cheaper than individual drinks. (no personal experience) No-sex off has been discussed here recently: http://sawatdeenetwork.com/v4/showthread.php?17845-Bar-off-clothes-on There is room to save money, e.g. tell the boy to meet you after work to save the off fee and offer less than what's usually expected for short time sex. vinapu and DivineMadman 2 Quote

a447a Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I used to have a number of guys sit with me and my regular guy when we visited Sunny Boys. Because I was already with a guy, they knew they would not be offed by me, so I told them they were free to leave if a potential customer came into the bar. It worked fine, and strangely enough, I can't recall any of the guys actually getting up and leaving. They preferred to sit and chat and drink. I have them all a good tip when we left. Popular Post firecat69 Posted March 30, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 30, 2016 I have a feeling you will do what is right and if anything be generous. Keep in mind many of these boys rarely get to do anything fun especially in Low Season. I have a good friend who delighted in taking 3 or 4 boys bowling, pool etc for a few hours and buy the beer and snacks and then give them each a few hundred (or more) baht when the night was over. Another friend who loved getting a group of boys and go to one of the late night discos ,same formula. Keep in mind the overwhelming % of boys are lucky if they average 2-3 offs a week and many less. You would be amazed how long a boy can make 200 baht last. I knew a boy who was quite popular in Sunee and he was not making any money. A good friend talked him into going to Funny Boys . He was making 5-700 baht a night between tips and drink credits and was happy never to be offed . He was making 3500-4000 baht a week and never had to go home with anyone. That is double what boys make in 7/11, Big C etc working 60 hours a week. I have a feeling any boy you choose will end up thinking you were fair to him. Believe it or not, there is a ton of other stuff you can do in Bangkok other than offing hot guys. I know right, what a concept. Though that is all I did last February for two weeks, this trip is different. It's never a waste of time and money to have fun in Bangkok, whatever fun that would be, IMHO. YMMV of course . I'll be back to my whoring ways in June. Quote

DivineMadman: the point for us is taking an "actual working gogo boy" out to dancing and food, not necessarily just have any other kind of boy for companionship. I'd like the BF to have interaction with a gogo boy not just in a bar. There will be plenty of opportunities for us to make new friends during GCircuit (as I have, with my friends, the past two parties). Who knows, we may get new Thai (or whatever) friends this way, as I hope we do. Good point about TIME being important thus my preference in paying him prevailing short time off fee, sex or no sex. colmx: again, looks like you have a ton of experience with this. Thanks for sharing your systematic way of handling a third boy. I hope we don't end up with a shit bag lol (that word cracks me up for no apparent reason).
