Asia Guys Blog

Recommended Posts

For a time your blog made for good reading with some great articles and even better guy photos being posted very regularly. When the Winter Olympics were happening recently, I remembered a cheeky little piece you had run about cute athletes! Sometimes you had three new articles a week I think. Then after a year or so, new articles seemed to disappear. Surely it would have been better to have spaced them out with more cute guy pics to whet appetites between them?

So can I make one suggestion? Unless a blog has new content being posted regularly, it simply cannot hold readers. I know you have a few writers. Cant they be persuaded to write more? You also pick up some of the best tumblr pics. Post one every day or every two days to keep readers looking at the site between articles. If this forum had no new content every day, it would die.

I hope you can continue with your blog and wish you luck.

Hi Peter thanks for the excellent feedback and suggestions. I agree with everything that you wrote and the survey responses reinforce this as well. Readers want regular articles and more pictures. I'll aim for a new article a week on a set day and at least 2 pictures. If I can get additional writers in the future I can increase this. Glad that you like the site and thanks for your encouragement for the future

I have no idea how complicated or otherwise blogs are to manage. But Id have thought one interesting article per week interspersed with a good quality boy pic photo every 2 or 3 days, you will revive the blog quite quickly. Your site breathes quality. Please keep that going with the photos rather than just re-posting pics from the average tumblr site.

Since the last post we have had a huge influx of survey responses. Thank you guys for that! What the responses in general highlighted is that readers want to see more regular content. Most want more gay stories, gay travel articles, hot guy pics and less gay history and polls

From now on we will be posting at least an article and 2 pictures a week and will hopefully increase this when possible in the future

Over the next few weeks we will go back and look at all the polls that we have done and post the results so far

Another thing that the survey highlighted is that its hard to know where to register and login. Also how to post comments and see the free gay galleries. We have fixed this by adding a sticky post at the top of the website

What a strange post from Christianpfc. Does it matter what the objectives of any blogsite are? If it gets readers it ,must be worth the trouble Im sure it takes to get one up and running. Christianpfcs own blogsite has a lot of valuable information but it also has a ton of little personal details of no interest to most travellers who restrict their Thai vacations to the main cities and islands. Asiaguys is a mix of travel, stories and photos. Are the stories fact? Are they fiction? A mix of the two? Does it matter?

Heya Peter thanks for the comments and Chris great to hear from you again. I answered all this in my last private message to you a few weeks ago. Please take a minute to double check your folders, maybe its in the spam one

What are your objectives with this website?

Originally I started the blog so I could express myself in writing about being gay. Since then other writers have offered to come on board with wonderful contributions which has evolved the site from a blog into an informative and helpful website about gay Asia. What's the main objectives of your blog?

Do you have original content?

Yes we have original content accept for some news stories where indicated. We have several writers who prefer to write under a pseudonym. Similarly almost all posters on forums do not give out their actual names and use fake ones or user names

Is that original content based on traveling or just pornographic fantasy?

Generally, as I mentioned in my last private message to you that articles are based on true stories but maybe spiced up a bit in some cases

I understand that you run a hugely successful and popular gay blog, I'm not competing with that as the style and content is way different. We even link to your blog from our links page as I believe that your blog is a valuable resource for the gay community. I would be interested in what suggestions would you make to make AsiaGuys.NET even better?

This very sad news indeed. The quality of the articles and photos made AsiaGuys.net stand out from the other sites. Perhaps the problem has been that a) it didn’t have a forum element enabling readers to comment on the articles and pictures, and b) it was not updated daily. Daily updates might not have been necessary if the forum had existed, but readers do need to know that there will be updated articles or comments on a daily basis. As I say, this is a sad day. Thanks to Buckbee for all his input - sorry it hasn’t worked for you.

Judging from a number pf earlier articles there was definitely a request at the end of each one for readers to leave comments. I think it meant registering first, but people register for most forums if they want to take part. Checking just now I see very few readers bothered to comment. Added to the lack comments I suspect readership hits must also have been low and this prevented Buckbee from generating ad revenue. It pisses me off that some sites like gaypassport.com are able to continue even though it is often  massively out of date in terms of its gay Asia listings and yet continues to promote almost exclusively high end hotels. This particular site lists G.O.D. and the original Jupiter as not only being open but having been last reviewed on 23 January 2018. Total lies! Both had been closed for some time by then. Didnt G.O.D. close its doors at least two years ago?

I also think updating any blog on a daily basis is probably an impossibility if Buckbee has a regular job. Even Christianpfc who is not in full time employment and whose blog is read and commented on by many often has several days between posts. But still, a sad day for those of us interested in gay happenings and stories about Asia.
