Guest Stewart Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Drinking with the boys in Sun Bar Jomtien the other day at least 3 boys, 2 from cambodia and the other from Laos said that they were returning home. Seems strange during high season where they expect to receive good earnings. Has anyone noticed this in other bars ? Is the pressure on immigrant worker taking its toll ? I am now holed up in Mae Sai up on the border with Myanmar with my little prawn cracker who still is unable to get his visa to travel back to Pattaya with me. He could go as far as Chaing Mai on a travel permit and then illegally make his way to Pattaya. I am not comfortable with that idea being a law abiding citizen and also knowing the fate that may wait for him he he gets caught. Is this fear with the other boys as well? Still I have been to worst places and the best bit is all the boys you look at give great smiles, although I am not sure If thats the "I'm all yours daddy" smile. An enchanting town with massive activity crossing the border bridge, both ways. At 2100 the border closes and the road becomes one huge market. The Golden Pool hotel at $24 (Agoda) is good value. Not sure if anyone has done a report on Chaing Rai and Mae Sai as yet. If they have I couldn't find it. Quote
Guest abang1961 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 This info is new to me. Did your boys enter the Kingdom/Kindgom on those short term permit and without a proper passport? How much is making a passport from their homeland? Quote
Alexx Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Sounds like a border pass that is only good for the border areas. Quote

Guest Stewart Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 He has passport that is with immigration. In the mean time they issue a border permit. Same goes when I go to Myanmar tomorrow. There is a very nice gentleman that can issue him with a Thai passport .. Happy days !! Quote
ChristianPFC Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 The 3 boys returning home might just be a coincidence. As far as I know, many of these boys are here on tourist visa or visa exemption and have to go home regularly. Where and how did you meet the Myanmar boy who cannot go further than Chiang Rai? There is little or no information about Chiang Rai and Mae Sai on the gay Thailand forums. Details about sightseeing (off the beaten track, I have been to White Temple and Black house near Chiang Rai in Feb 2014) and gay activities would be welcome, as I am tentatively planning a trip Phrae-Nan-Chiang Rai-border to Myanmar for the next months. Yes I think you are probably right here as at least 2 of the boys are now back working in Bangkok. Maybe it was a sop to get a little extra bus fare from a soppy farang. The Myanmar boys ID will get them as far as Chaing Rai (officially) as they get travel permits papers at the border. From there they will go further south a their own risk. Driving to Chaing Rai airport from the border there were 3 separate police checks, I guess in an effort to stem the people trafficking and other people related matters. Quote
