Guest ear wig Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 This is for those guys coming on Vacation in Thailand and planning to visit Chiang Mai and want hotel standards of accommodation with guesthouse friendly service you should take a look at PJ's Place. It is gay and it's in a soi a bit further down Huay Kaew than Soi Coca (Cherry House sauna). http://pjs-place.com/ home page Other Gay Chiang Mai Hotels and Guest houses woth a look. http://www.dreadedned.com/directory/bytype/2/3/ Quote
bkkguy Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 it's not new, it's not luxury and it's not even a hotel - I suppose 1 out of 4 ain't bad! bkkguy Quote
Guest stef Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 it's not new, it's not luxury and it's not even a hotel - I suppose 1 out of 4 ain't bad! bkkguy Probably the cleanest and nicest place I have stayed in Thailand. The owners are really nice and always are going out their way to help you out. They pick you up at the airport, offer tour services in Chiang Mai, every room they have is fresh and clean , with free internet ,nice size bed and free breakfrast. I would suggest anyone that seek a clean , safe experience to stay at PJ's. You won't go wrong. Quote
Guest ear wig Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Thanks Stef Nice to know we have a few normal people here, I think the Nutters are trying to take over the mental hospital Your right they are so nice and helpful and a wonderful place to stay. Quote
Guest wowpow Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Steph, I am looking for a nice place to stay in Chiang Mai in January for a friend and myself. PJ's Place does look nice and your recommendation counts for a lot. I have concerns about the location though. I have always stayed near the night market or the river all very convenient. How did you find it? Thanks in advance for your advice Quote
Guest Trongpai Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I have stayed at PJ 's twice, it's wonderful. Short walk to the street with ample tuk tuks or songtows. You can walk to the Central Shopping certer and/or House of Male Sauna. Don't take the tuk tuks parked in the drive of the shopping center, they charge more. I was told they have to pay the policeman on duty 40B to park there and that is added to your bill. He was full on my last trip. I dropped in to say hi, business is going well. Book early. The BF told me we do not go to Chaing Mai again unless there's a room at PJ's. Quote

How did you find it? Thanks in advance for your advice Hi I will be in Chiang Mai in January as well, may be our path will cross. Pj's place isn't in the center of the Gay Area, but I believe they do provide transportation. Last time I was there , they drove me pretty much every where I wanted to go. It is a real nice place. The rooms are spacious, clean and it seems to me that is was "new" when I was there last. That is new or renovated, it is important that you feel comfortable in it. And I did feel comfortable. I am not much into the " Lets go out every night " type of scene, and I was really content of my stay at Pj's. You really can't go wrong by booking there. If you seek to be from a walk in distance of the night market, then that's not the the place to stay, that's for sure. I just added a new gallery of the photos I took early this year. I can't find the one I took inside the room... It must be somewhere.. but right now you can check it out, and you can see the quality of the place. Pj's Place New Gallery Thanks Stef Nice to know we have a few normal people here, I think the Nutters are trying to take over the mental hospital Your right they are so nice and helpful and a wonderful place to stay. I am not sure if it is proper to go that far. Understand there are many places of many tastes out there. We believe it is a nice place but we should respect other's opinion as well. Different Strokes for Different Folks. And I still believe it is a wonderful place to say. Quote
bkkguy Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I think the Nutters are trying to take over the mental hospital Different Strokes for Different Folks. The Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi Hotel is a "luxury hotel" in Chiang Mai - its 5 star rating would not be questions by most people The Tea Vana is a "new" hotel in Chiang Mai - it opened in November 2006 PJs has been open for 18 months (and has been discussed many times on various forums) and is a guesthouse - albeit a very nice one - and thus is neither "new" or a "luxury hotel" this is not different strokes for different folks, this is basic English usage bkkguy Quote

Good for you. You just made my day I am sure everyone else will agree with you here: if PJ's has been open for only 18 months now, it makes it such an old place . How would you call a place that has been open for, humm... let's say few years? Extremely old? If you believe that a hotel is much better because it was just opened, to the opposite of a place that has been opened for a while with Positives reviews, then why not sharing your experiences with us? I seek for your help here, you seems doing such a better usage of this charming English Language.... than me. Am I misunderstanding something? TotallyOz Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 In my opinion, PJ"s the the best place to stay in Chiang Mai. I loved my stay there. I have stayed in other high end hotels there and in many cities around the world. In my opinion, PJ's is simply amazing. I took one of their small houses and it was fantastic. I give PJ's my highest reccomendation for Chiang Mai. Quote

Guest stef Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 This is ridiculous. No one said anywhere that PJ's wasn't nice. No one said anywhere that 5 star hotels were more to their taste. No one said anywhere that new hotels are nicer than old ones. All that was said was that PJ's was not 'new' or 'luxury' or a 'hotel' as claimed by the original post. Of course, the original post has been somehow changed, making this whole thread silly. Oops.....sorry....the original post wasn't changed, the incorrect claims are in the title, not the post. This thread isn't silly then. Just ridiculous. You scared me for a moment. I thought I was just blind and did not see this : it's not new, it's not luxury and it's not even a hotel - I suppose 1 out of 4 ain't bad! bkkguy I suppose 1 out of 4 aint' bad. what does that mean ? 3 out 4 is bad ? gosh.. I better get back to school. Anyway ... I am still hoping other people will share informations on hotels in Chaing Mai. Quote
Guest Pearl69er Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Good grief..I' surprised Earwig hasn't been carted off and belted to death with a thousand stillettos for stating PJ's was "new"..talk about touchy queens ! PJ's is damned nice and it has that 'special" touch that makes or breaks a hotel/inn/B&B..service. No amount of stars will make up for shoddy service and the crew at PJ's are as good as it gets. Not every visitor to Thailand is up on the current scene so it helps to be reminded every now and then that a place is good. As we can see-even old regulars like Wowpow like to be kept up to date ! Guest pete1969 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I stayed at PJs last summer. It was very nice and very peaceful. My only quibble was the parking. It was only a short drive to the gay bars, and as stated before, a tuk-tuk is easy to get. My Bf (who has been in every hotel in BKK) loved PJs and still mentions it to me on ocassion. Very nice place. Pete Quote

I really wish you would tell me more about the hotels you have stated. Did you stay there ? If yes, share your experiences. If not for me, then for other members. We would appreciate it very much . But what you do not realize being so selfish it may have been discussed on other forums in Timbuktu, but here we are talking to many new guyz around the world who stray onto this web sight via google or thorough friends or even me when many friends ask me where Im writing now. As we now know PJs is a very good Hotel just a bit from the market but in the middle of all the gay bars, something many did not know before this post, why dont you just tell us the best places for a prissy queens to stay Im sure a few will be interested, then they can tell you it has all been said before, probably by you as you go to each forum to tell every one how good you are at finding the best, its a wonder you come here at all. or is this a 5 star forum now. with only quality posters By the way stef bkkguy will not tell you about the 5 star Hotels he was only dreaming he could ever stay there to make him self think we all say Wow, pow who knows all about 5 star Hotels if you want to know the real low down on them. As for Jomtien saying to original post has been changed, I think you are seeing things or you want to take your dark galsses off nothing has been change, PJs is still a very nice Luxury Hotel B) Quote
bkkguy Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 with ice cream dripping all over the keyboard I will have one last stab at this! I have never posted that I wanted to stay at the hotels mentioned, and indeed I have no desire to - they were simply offered as examples of how one could use words like "luxury hotel" and "new" in a reasonable way and to put you out of your misery Steff - the subject for the original post had 4 words in it and my post queried 3 of those words - indeed the whole post was an obviously too subtle dig at poor ear wig for whom it is a sterling effort to get 1 word out of 4 correct in his typical posts and yes I know there are always new people visiting the forums and Chiang Mai, I just don't think they are well served by the overblown hyperbole of posters like ear wig/LMTU/[insert latest persona here] now I will get back to my ice cream, you two can get back to your ridiculous assumptions about my hotel preferences and the rest can get back to making well-deserved recommendations for the non-"new" non-"luxury" non-"hotel" PJ's Guesthouse bkkguy Quote
Guest stef Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 now I will get back to my ice cream... Finally.... Thank you so much... was afraid you would get a brain freeze with that ice cream of yours... .... ooopppssss an other assumption. What's wrong with me ? Nothing really To every one, you have read by now, that Pj's is a great place. It is not near the gay area but it is safe , recently (18 months now ) new, and most important , it is gay Owned. It would a great choice if you decide to stay there. Now there are others places in Chiang Mai and they are listed in the city guides section. I did not try any of them, I can only speak of Pj's. Please feel free to share your experience and write reviews. Quote
TotallyOz Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 with ice cream dripping all over the keyboard I will have one last stab at this! bkkguy Lets just hope that is Ice Cream buddy! now I will get back to my ice cream, you two can get back to your ridiculous assumptions about my hotel preferences and the rest can get back to making well-deserved recommendations for the non-"new" non-"luxury" non-"hotel" PJ's I'll say again. PJ's is amazing. The place is great, the food is good, the owners are exceptional. I don't normally push any place as the best but this is the best I have seen in Chiang Mai and I have had friends stay there and ALL were very happy. These 2 guys are wonderful and the staff is enjoyable. Having just spent over 500 Euro a night on a room in Amsterdam, it was a true 5 star hotel. I love it as well. It is hard to get a reservation but I have stayed there over 10 times in the past few years and they always find a room for me. At a price. But, PJ's is speical and if given a choice, I would stay there over the hotel I was at in Amsterdam. Quote
Guest wowpow Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Well you guys have sold it to me and I booked a couple of House/Suites for out January trip. All suites are air conditioned and with en-suite facilities and king size bed: Cable TV (2) Mini bar (2) Tea / coffee making Complementary fruit basket LAN connection to ADSL internet IDD telephone Room Safe" Thanks earwig, Stef and GayThailand. bkkguy any ice creams you recommend. P S The Four Season's Resort is more expensive than the Mandarin Oriental. I will honeymoon there should the occasion arise. Quote
khaolakguy Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Your point was well made Bkkguy, but inaccurate tabloid headlines seem to be in vogue here, unlike subtlety or irony. It sounds a great place but the geography is a little confusing, as Earwig writes "PJs is a very good Hotel just a bit from the market but in the middle of all the gay bars," while Stef writes "It is not near the gay area". Quote
Guest stef Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I know that Ear Wig's way to write isn't as good as some people out there, but when someone say " A bite far away from " means in general it is not very close by but ain't that far either. When " a bit from the market " was said, I understood what he meant. " Far " is missing here. Big Deal !! So when I say : It is not near the gay area, it just mean the same. But that's ok, I will stop the " Chocolat Ice cream " as chocoloat aren't good for the eyes.... and may be my perception of things isn't working the way it should. It seems that " Icre Cream " isn't good PERIOD. That you get a brain freeze or eat too much Chocolat ice cream , it seems that the main point here is missing. PJ's place is among many other NICE PLACE in Thailand. If you don't agree with this , then too bad. I am sorry you feel that way. If I would have wrote that Post at the first place, None of this would have had happened. It has to be someone that is not someone's else buddy list, for Drama to pops up. I am not by any mean taking side here, but when a poster, and not a bad one either, takes a topic personnally because of its original poster, I think it is really sad. Especially when we all think alike. The result is exactly the same. The place in question, is a nice one, clean and a bit , close, not that far but no too close ,near, the gay area. Pj's place has a new customer now, that will end up having a great time in January. Quote
