williewillie
Also saw it tonight with bf. Ridley Scott did a great job and Matt Damon as well. Wonder if it was Matt's naked butt in a shower scene. Nice toot.

kokopelli
The Martian was entertaining if nothing else with good special effects. Saying that, I did not find much about the movie as believable and, at times, rather silly and not scientifically accurate.. A rather convoluted plot that, at times, made little sense. Probably in 3 D it would have been better than the 2D version which is what I viewed.
firecat69
If people went to the movies to see the believable, all the studios would be out of business in 3 years.
kokopelli
I did read that Neil deGrasse Tyson found the movie believable but then, what does he know about astrophysics?
williewillie
Koko sense of humor getting more obtuse. N. Tyson is an eminent astrophysicist. Maybe a mea culpa from koko? Of course, it's a sci fi movie and one has to not be pedantic to find it entertaining.
kokopelli
No mea culpa from Koko! Pardon the pun, but Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson is the one who gave the coup de grasse to Pluto.
Alexx
I think every good movie of that genre needs to be an implausible (by defying Murphy's Law way too often in a row), but not outright theoretically impossible, success story. I'd say The Martian passes that test. I don't think this movie benefits from 3D as much as others. One upcoming movie I will definitely watch in 3D at IMAX is "The Walk". Even just watching the trailer there scared me shitless. kokopelli
