  1. I have a week off coming up in a few weeks, and I would like to explore a new destination. I have visited Brazil and Costa Rica and some parts of Mexico (Puerto Vallarta and the northern part of Mexico, never Guadalajara, Mexico City, Merida, or any part of the Yucatan peninsula), but I would like to try a new place that offers cheap flights from the US. So that rules out Brazil and Argentina. I'm amazed how much cheaper it is to fly to some of the other cities like Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena, and Lima ($125-$300 each way, vs. $1000+ to Rio and Buenos Aires). I was planning to go to Cuba, but it is hard to find info about the recovery from their recent hurricane, so I figured it would be best to put it off for a while... I would love to hear any ideas. I am currently a student, so I can't afford anything too extravagant in terms of flight or lodging. I like beaches and cocktails and cute guys. I love Rio because it offers all three, but I'm planning a trip there in the new year, and can't afford to go twice. Thanks in advance for anyone who can offer any advice!
