Apart from him, it seems, only US-Americans get killed. This is a complot by the Communists, Jews, Moslems, whoever you want. No war since WWII or terrorist attack killed so many US-Americans as get killed by gun crimes, accidents and suicides.

I did not misunderstand your comment, I just twisted it to my needs. I think the fact that something has historical, religious or cultural reasons should not exempt it from applying current standards to it. This applies to bullfight, circumcision, tattoos, smoking. Nothing of this would be thinkable/imaginable if someone came up with the idea now. Bullfight in Spain and Foie Gras in France are exempted from animal protection laws because it has a cultural and historical background. I find this unacceptable!
-
You have my full support for that, and let's include tattoos as well.

Chinese tourists now top nr 1 coming to THailand!

These numbers should be corrected for days of stay. Someone who comes in by airplane from Europe or America or China or Japan is likely to stay for a week or two. Numbers from Malaysia probably include boarder traffic with people just staying days or only one day? -
"the right to bear arms" is the basis of a great pun:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reduced_gravity_aircraft : I always wondered what sex without gravity would be like, just imagine total freedom in position, every part of the body accessible from everywhere.

I'm not sure if I ever saw a Bugs Bunny cartoon. But I know the character. I was eating the carrot without any sexual innuendo.

I am quite surprised about this court decision, usually the German government pets all ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities. (This has nothing to do with the German government, but in administration and court you have to be aware of this general trend.) I applaud the court for its decision! If male circumcision is their (Jews and Moslems) religious custom, so is female circumcision for many African tribes. The catholic church used to burn witches in the Middel Ages. Just because something has a religious background or is a local custom, doesn't mean we have to keep it for eternity. There has to be some advancement in humanity. Banning all kinds of circumcision worldwide would be an advancement. I totally agree. And I want to add: I value animal protection higher than freedom to exercise one's religion (there have been cases in court about kosher butchering.)

For sake of accuracy: this is rather related to religion (Islam) than to language. (Of course, most Muslim countries speak Arabic. But not Indonesia and Malaysia, which are right on Thailand's doorsteps!)

Recently, someone mentioned the Titanic exhibition and was surprised that Thais didn't know about the story (?). The sinking of the Titanic is iconic. I had a strange encounter. I was chatting on camfrog in Thai and eating a carrot, so my Thai friend asked me (in jest) if I was a rabbit. They have rabbits in Thailand, but carrots are imported. So how do Thai boys know the connection between rabbits and carrots? Roger Rabbit? I have never seen a rabbit eating a carrot, but I know the joke "Eat carrots, they are good for your eyes. Or have you ever seen a rabbit with glasses?" The test if something is iconic is to go to a village in Esaan and as the people who live there if they recognize it!

I think the forums mentioned can be classified the following way: Gay Thailand, Gaybutton and Gay Ting Tong are for serious people looking for or providing information about gay Thailand. Baht-Stop is for talking (?) about world politics (mainly Israel-Palestine) and bitching and moaning and abusing other members, and they sometimes write about gay Thailand too. Sawatdee Gay Thailand is for entertainment and banter about gay Thailand. (Rough genralizations.) And then there are inter- and intra-forum animosities between members. And levels of literacy (especially punctuation) vary widely. And localities (in Thailand or Asia in general) covered vary.
-
Here Gaybutton pictures as far as I can place them: coke advertising Napoleon I (don't know) (john wayne ?) atom bomb test (after Hiroshima, somewhere in the south Pacific; I think Hiroshima is more iconic) Henry VIII King of England Gandhi (USA internal politics ?) Churchill (Chinese-Japanese war 1937, didn't know this one)

The boards in order of decreasing activity (by my estimation): Sawatdee Gay Thailand, Gaybutton, Gaythailand, Baht-Stop, Gay Ting Tong. One could argue if Baht-Stop is about Thailand, as the Israel-Palestina conflict and general bitching (not related to Thailand) take a large part of it. I read Sawatdee Gay Thailand and Gaybutton daily, the others once per week. I post parallel on Sawatdee Gay Thailand and Gaybutton as these two boards have a very different audience (just a matter of vanity, I want to reach as many readers as possible with my precious thoughts.) Strangely, some people who vehemently deny reading certain boards are often well informed of current affairs on that very board. But back to the original question: sure, some boards could merge. The atmosphere in Gaythailand and Gay Ting Tong is similar. Gaybuttonthai was created during the confusion whether Gaythailand will remain or not. It did remain. So these three boards could merge as they are largely compatible. Sawatdee Gay Thailand, Baht-Stop and Gaybutton are completely incompatible.

I didn't know the Chinese-Japanese war picture from 1937, but I know this one (number 7 in the original post): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phan_Thi_Kim_Phuc http://www.facenfacts.com/NewsDetails/25925/napalm-girl-kim-phuc-photo-from-vietnam-war-turns-40.htm

I would not judge a DVD by its cover, but on the internet you can often find a picture that has screenshots of the movie every x minutes, and they are very useful. I am very picky, so I can dismiss the majority just by looking at the preview. What remains, there is about 5-10% interesting scenes fromt he total. I only want the data, I don't need a carrier (DVD) for the data as I can store it on my harddrive. That's why I rather search on the internet and do not buy DVDs. There is a lot of free stuff on the internet, and stuff you usually have to pay for (boykakke, privateboymovies, ...) is available for free if you know where to look. I have an underwear fetish, which is not served by the industry. Usually scenes with underwear on or how the underwear comes off are too short or absent. At the beginning, they are in street clothes, and suddenly they are naked in bed! The most important part for me has been cut out!

As far as I know, if you open an ATM with force the money in it will be stained by ink, or even worse there is a device that sprays out permanent ink so the thief and his surroundings will get stained as well.

I had to look up whom you are talking about, this shows my age. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Gobel

Sorry, for the confusion, the pictures I posted are from a different site. Coicidentally, there is an extraordinary German soldier (WWII) with the same name as the Swiss cannibal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans-Ulrich_Rudel I vaguely remember the Armin Meiwes case from the news in Germany. At last, these cases of cannibalism are extremely rare. There are far more people accidentally killed by elephants each year than eaten by other humans.

I am against unnecessary changes, so everyone get back to his or her old avatar please!

On all my visits, I never noticed any second hand clothes at JJ market, I will take a closer look next time. There are second hand books for sure, I bought some. The names of venues I quoted (from memory) were from gay guide maps of Bangkok for Foreigners, I have little experience in that area.
-
The map has north pointing to the bottom (which caused me some confusion).

Part of what I write is tongue-in-cheek, and part of the fun is for you to find out what and what not! I got some people into serious thinking with "Bars in Pattaya change owner more frequently than I change my underwear". But this one was serious. Teeth not in a row meaning in a line, or better semi circle. I prefer teeth arranged like this: I would never kiss this man: because he has bad teeth!

Klong Toei market near the MRT station of the same name. I went there a few times. It is a very interesting place that is full of life 24 hours per day. I first noticed when I returned from Ramkhamhaeng are by taxi and wondered why there are so many people that late (3 or 4 am), but it was not late, it was early, they were shopping for the following day! You can observe how poultry goes from live in cages to ready to eat within 5 meters distance. I went there one afternoon to buy fruits, and there were labels with prices.

One has to keep in mind that some of the comments are generated by automatic translation or by people with limited knowledge of English. The Thai word for butterfly (the animal) is ผีเสื้อ which literally means "a ghost with clothes". I thought longtime that this is used for a promiscuous person as well (seems kind of logic to me, the animal flies from flower to flower and the person flies from boy to boy), but then I learned that butterfly (promiscuous person) is เจ้าชู้ (literally: person who often changes his sexual partner).

I had a look at the site and can't find any fault. It shows life as it really is and it is bare of the usual political correctness. (joke start) Did you never ask yourself what you look like after getting sucked into a jet engine? It's here: http://www.bestgore.com/bloody-injuries/boeing-737-shanghai-airlines-mechanic-sucked-into-jet-engine/ (joke end) Clicking the puppy is for leaving the site, it leads to www.imbecile.me which has some interesting entries, like this: (Get it? The guy is too lazy to bend down to pick the CD up. It took me a few seconds.)
