  1. Some more facts on double pricing: In Jomtien complex, there is a closed sauna that has a sign "free entry for Thai boys under 25 years". In Chakran Sauna, they have a promotion under 35 year olds 155 instead of 250 Baht. One one occasion, I was refused the discount because it is only in Thai (speaking Thai and reading out the promotion - it did not state nationality - did not help). On one occasion I got in just stating I am younger than 35, one one occasion I had to show my passport. Many museums in Paris are free on the first Sunday of the months. This way, I got into the Louvre for free. I didn't even have to queue, as there is a little known back entrance.
  2. I think you don't need to be a construction engineer to take one look at the pillars and conclude that they are usable. Even those unfinished that have the bare iron exposed look fine. As it looks now, they only demolish the western line of pillars and leave the eastern line (and the central line?), just to get enough space for the skytrain line.
  3. I take so much stuff with me when I go out, I need cotton wool tote bag (which is common for shopping in Germany and you often can get it for free with advertising printed on it). In this, I have several other papers of A4 size in a plastic sleeve, I keep my passport copy with them and even after months they look like new. No need to laminate for me.
  4. You could circumvent this by putting the photos on photobucket and then linking to them.
  5. Demolition of the Hopewell pillars The Hopewell project and Sathorn Unique are the most prominent examples of unfinished buildings or construction projects in Bangkok. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangkok_Elevated_Road_and_Train_System My ascent of Sathorn Unique is covered here: http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/8889-where-were-these-pictures-taken/ Recently, demolition of the Hopewell pillars has begun, so I will share a few pictures I took. I find it very sad, I think they should promote both (Hopewell and Sathorn Unique) as tourist destinations and declare them to national monuments, or monuments of corruption and mismanagement. Hopewell could even be considered a piece of art. These structures have been called “Stonehenge of Thailand”, some have a resemblance to Japanese Torii arches. http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/transport/333657/hopewell-pillars-ousted-by-red-line http://www.prachachat.net/news_detail.php?newsid=1359633761 Hopewell Pillars near Lak Si train station: I like this “tunnel” view, where the pillars overlap in perspective to make it look like a tunnel. Demolition of Hopewell pillars near Lak Si train station: The concrete is cut by diamond wire saw. When searching for information on the internet, I found this thread: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=410940&page=3 which contains a picture of one finished segment of the Hopewell project. With the help of a poster there and satellite pictures from google maps, I could locate it: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=13.836965,100.555222&daddr=Bangkok,+Thailand&hl=en&sll=13.836973,100.555235&sspn=0.001284,0.002642&geocode=%3BFRtn0QAdSCX9BSnzYQ0oMmAdMTHHD4uFY4VFNg&t=h&mra=mift&mrsp=0&sz=19&z=19 Needless to say, I had to go there before it is gone! This is not a graffiti, it’s a bas relief, carved into the concrete up to 2 cm deep. Thor’s hammer? There is some interesting architecture. (The Nice, Monte Carlo, Royal Vienna) The day is rounded off by a barbecue at a friend’s place, many thanks to the host and other guests! The collapse of Hopewell pillars last year must have involved an unfinished similar structure (similar to the one complete segment a few pics above). http://www.bangkokpost.com/lite/topstories/282425/hopewell-collapse-sparks-probe http://2bangkok.com/forum/showthread.php?3687-Hopewell-BERTS-Viaduct-collapse/page2 http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/537372-hopewell-train-pillars-collapses-for-a-stretch-of-150m-bangkok/ From satellite pictures and description in the links above, I assume it was here: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=13.841567,100.557853&daddr=Bangkok,+Thailand&hl=en&sll=13.841536,100.557856&sspn=0.001284,0.002642&geocode=%3BCWvm4R5vi3xtFRtn0QAdSCX9BSnzYQ0oMmAdMTHHD4uFY4VFNg&t=h&doflg=ptk&mra=mift&mrsp=0&sz=19&z=19 As far as I can see, they only demolish the western part of Hopewell pillars. There are 2 sites for demolishment I know of, at current speed it could be done within a year’s time. While Hopewell is demolished, there is a new skytrain line and extension of MRT above ground in construction in northeastern Bangkok and Nonthaburi, parts are complete, I drove past in a taxi several times. Some more pictures from that weekend: Fried crickets (with Maggi sauce and pepper), about 100 m north of Central Latprao. They are fresh, the live crickets are kept next to the stall, in front of the picture. (And I wouldn’t throw out of bed either of the two boys to let my cat in.) Delicious, and they don’t stick between your teeth like the larger ones do! My first trip to Elephant Building (Pahonyothin Soi 26): Former “Magic Land” entertainment park, with only the Disney-like castle (which is inspired by Neuschwanstein in Bavaria) left: The full album is here: http://s1084.photobucket.com/user/christianpfc/library/Hopewell%20Project%20Bangkok?sort=9&page=1 (probably the most extensive photographic documentation of the Hopewell demolition)
  6. Q1: I would probably not take my luggage out of the overhead locker. Only if other passengers take their luggage, I would do so as well. Q2: I have all important stuff on my body. In addition, I have a bag with less important stuff that I keep between my bags or under the seat, I would take this bag with me. Q3: I rarely read the safety instructions or listen to the safety briefing. Queue jumping at an airport? If you think about it: queue jumping at boarding does not get you to your destination faster than all others. If you queue jumping at arrival (e.g. at passport check), you still have to wait for your luggage. Many people don't understand such simple connections. Regarding hand luggage: I have been guilty of slightly oversized or overweight hand luggage a few times when traveling in Europe (the limits were low, like 10 kg and 25 x 45 x 55 cm). I witnessed cases of "hand luggage tourism", where the last passengers had to walk to through the entire plane to find a space for their hand luggage.
  7. Why do people have their copies of their passport laminated? I don't think this makes any difference. A laminated copy of your passport is as worthless as an unliminated copy when the original is required. I remember in Berlin, laminating the monthly ticket for S-Bahn made it invalid. I carry a copy (not laminated) with me, the original is locked at work. Before my passport was stolen on Songkran, I carried it with me all the time.
  8. Regarding busses: yesterday I was waiting in Silom (bus stop near Sala Daeng) for bus 77, from 23:55 to 01:17, the longest time I ever waited for a bus. I had the impression these are more frequently than 29 (from Sam Yan), but I was wrong. About 00:25 a motorcycle driver told me bus 77 will pass between 01:10 and 01:20. I believed him and went on a stroll through Silom (I find walking more comfortable than standing or sitting on the curb/kerb stone) and came back 01:10. The bus was indeed in the time he indicated! Unfortunately, I was unable to get information about the next bus and the previous bus (He did not understand my question in English, and when I switched to Thai the bus was there). He even offered me a cigarette! Hard to believe, but there are decent Thai people around Silom.
  9. Thank you very much. You wrote about Siam Paragon before, I will have to go there some time. Here a list of malls where I saw people cruising toilets this year: The Mall Bangkapi (that was in Jan or Feb, my first time, I was so excited about this I had to call LMTU - "may his sole rest in piece" - to tell him that he was right all the time), Silom Complex, Big C Ratchadamri (there they have signs in Thai that say: please report indecent activities to the police). No activity in Central Latprao (based on one visit). I have not taken part in such activities. I will try the approach of asking a question whose answer I know when I spot cute boys (e.g. at bus stops, "do you know which bus goes ...?"). Did I understand your report correctly, you cheated on your boyfriend while both of you were waiting for the movie and then you lied to him that you don't like the seats you got?
  10. Did they rise the prices? I remember the last rise of prices from 250 to 300 in X-Boys and Classic Boys from 2011 to 2012. Last prices I remember (earlier this year) was 300 Baht in Classic and 350 Baht in Dream Boy. To put these prices into context: in Saranrom park I had one offer for sex for 300 Baht, and two for 400 Baht, but the going rate is 500 Baht. I had a stroll through Soi Twilight yesterday night, around 10-11, but did not go to any bar as I was not looking for sex (I only go if I have the intention to off a boy).
  11. I spend a lot of time on gayromeo, you can find some gems. A clear facepic is important for me, better several. If their profile pic does not show their face or their body, I don't even click on the profile. I look for weight and height (this information seems to be accurate for most), but other specs are filled in arbitrarily by the boys (just have a look how many write they are Caucasian). In Bkk, there are many boys who are not moneyboys, when I write (English or Thai, depending on the language they use in their profile) to them, I often do not get a reply or after a short exchange they stop replying. Next time I will try to hint that I can help them with money for taxi. I had two instant hook-ups (i.e. about 1-2 hours after exchanging the first message at gayromeo, I was at their place and we had good sex), I had one boy come to my place without sex (I gave him money for taxi, he was not so much my type), went to one boy (no sex, not so much my type), have several boys on my watchlist (i.e. I will meet them some time). Of course there are many conversations on gayromeo that do not lead to meeting (too far away, no time, if I am not sure from the pictures if he is my type I rather do not meet).
  12. Positive report from Super A The amazing thing is that everything reported took place between two normal working days. Back in Europe, I would have given my left testicle to be able to do that, now I can do it every day if I want to! Thursday, 11.07.2013 I have a date with a Thai friend near Wongwian Yai (details will be in another report). We part at around 21:15, too early to go back home, so I take BTS to Silom. A stroll through Silom, Soi 4, and Soi Twilight does not bring anything new. In Soi Twilight it’s showtime in most bars, I don’t want to get into a show, so I will not visit any of their bars. I haven’t been to Super A for a while. A few months ago, I entered and ordered an orange juice. They didn’t have orange juice, and by the time they communicated their extensive drink menu (water, soda, beer; none of which appealed to me), I had seen enough of their boys to be sure I wouldn’t want to have sex with any of them, so I left. This time was better. I entered 22:50 and ordered orange juice (available, 150 Baht) and there were 9 boys. No numbers on the boys, about 3 many tattoos, 3 few tattoos, 3 no tattoos (estimated). All in different underwear. I was the only customer most of the time. Everyone got up (from sitting and playing with their mobile phones) and on stage for about 10 minutes, after that the excitement of a customer had ceased and normality kicked in (i.e. everyone back sitting and playing with their mobile phones). Some time the stage was empty, some time two boys were on duty standing there. They were talking among each other and with mamasan, the music level allowed me to listen, unfortunately I didn’t understand much. But one day my Thai will be good enough, and then I can report what boys and mamasan talk, assuming customers don’t understand. Music and aircon ok. The light was low and only in red. Here the light shining from the mobile phone into the boys’ faces was useful. I asked mamasan to switch on the light: cannot. I pointed to light bulbs that were not lit: broken. In the toilet, there was no toilet paper, no towel and no wash basin, apart from that it was ok. During my stay there, two more potential customers popped in, sat down, discussed with mamasan and left shortly after without ordering a drink. One of them came back later and ordered a drink. During my stay (22:50 to 00:30), mamasan asked me to pay and leave three times, saying time is over, pointing to my drink (empty by her standards, but not by mine), and finally even showing me the bill. I never had that before. But her attempts were weak, I said I’m not done yet and she left me in peace for half an hour. What’s the point of chasing the only customer out? So everyone can let their hair down (they did anyway)? There were three interesting boys: one had a cute face, but a bit too fat and no nice underwear; one with a gorgeous body and nice underwear, but no cute face; and one with a cute face and a gorgeous body despite tattoo, but no nice underwear (name Bee, as I learned later) The situation was in a dead end: the boy with cute face, gorgeous body and no nice underwear was sitting opposite to me and was playing with his mobile phone and didn’t pay any attention to me. (Similar situations are often the reason for a stay in the bar longer than planned, I just can’t make up my mind and wait for something to happen.) If I don’t take action, the bar will close and I will have to go home alone! About 00:30, I ask the boy sitting next to me to call over Bee. We have a short chat in English and most importantly, I put my hand on his upper tight and his skin has perfect temperature and is dry (skin temperature and dryness are very important to me!). I tell him I want to take him upstairs. Off fee (400 Baht) and fee for short time room (200 Baht) is added to my bill. Mamasan comes back with change, I take all the change, despite her making sounds with the metal tray (tapping it with her finger) indicating she is expecting a tip. I wonder if the short time room is available if you bring boys from outside (because I am looking for a short time room in Silom, walking distance from the bars, reasonably priced, to save me from travelling back to my room about 30 minutes by taxi, some boys might be reluctant to travel that far, and getting a taxi in my area at night to get back to Silom might be difficult for them. In fact I had one boy in February in Classic Boys who refused to go to my room, and I refused to go to a short time hotel in the area, so we parted without getting to business.) Are there any other bars that offer short time rooms? In the room, oh wonder, Bee does everything right, like reading my mind! This includes showering together afterwards. I had almost lost faith in prostitution, because I had a long series of duds (about 10 duds, fortunately separated by good sex with non-moneyboys) and I was on the brink of giving up taking moneyboys. The duds just lay there without any activity, except when it came to wanking me, then they got busy, but they didn’t find the right strokes! In the bar, Mamasan said 400 off fee, 200 short time room, 1000 tip for boy; but this warrants 1200 tip for Bee (I think 1500 in Soi Twilight is too much, although I pay it if I come across the right boy; whereas 1000 in Pattaya is fine). Next time I will bring underwear and then everything will be perfect. I leave about 1 am and have another look at Soi Twilight. Most gogo bars closed, gogo boys about to go home, but beer bars (Banana, Hotmale) are having a party, good atmosphere! In Scorpion bar, the cute Vietnamese boy is still there (was there when I walked past two days before – I haven’t been to Soi Twilight for weeks, and now twice in three days), and there are some new faces, some cute. The cute Vietnamese boy is touchy with a customer. A boy I had offed in Screwboyz (before renovation) last year is there and invites me, but I have to go home. Not without having a short chat with him: he says there are currently five or six Vietnamese boys in Scorpion! I walk to Sam Yan MRT, opposite is a bus stop from where I can get a bus to my place. Oh wonder, the bus (line 29) comes after 2 minutes waiting time at 01:26 am, making this evening almost perfect! At night, it takes about 20 minutes by taxi (and costs about 160 Baht) to get back home, or 30 minutes by bus (and costs 8 Baht). The only problem is that the bus comes about twice per hour. It comes from Rangsit and passes on the opposite site of the road on its way to Hua Lampong. There it turns around and goes back to Rangsit. From the opposite site of the road to Hua Lampong and to my side of the road it takes about 15 minutes. Which means if I have been waiting for the bus for 15 minutes, and it hasn’t passed on the other side of the road, I will have to wait at least another 15 minutes. And indeed, I had to wait up to 40 minutes. Now I have to check my records to see if there is pattern in the time the bus comes. Next time I might ask others who wait there if the bus has passed on the opposite site of the road. Back in my room, I notice a serious love bite on my neck. This is the first time I have a love bite from a moneyboy, which leads to the question: Is a customer entitled to a discount if a moneyboys makes a lovebite on him? (In the USA, he could even sue the boy?) The other way round, a customer makes a love bite on a moneyboy, does this warrant a higher tip? (I wanted to ask these questions anyway, from a theoretical point of view, now reality has caught up.)
  13. My requirements for a boyfriend Christian' date=' since your Grand Experiment started there seems to be one central theme ... at least that part if it associated with looking, searching, scouring the countryside looking for a '[i']certain[/i]' Thai guy. This quest is, in general, encapsulated by the quote above, which I have read many times in your posts. So help me out: exactly what is 'Your Type'? Here a brain dump* of my requirements for a boyfriend or fuck buddy. (Update: I decided to make it a comprehensive treatise, that’s why it took so long.) When boys in Saranrom ask me what I am looking for, I reply: slim, brown skin, no facial hair. I mean “no body hair”, but simplify to facial hair as this is usually a good indication and you can see it when they are dressed. When Thais I meet in discos or saunas or on the internet ask me what I am looking for in a boyfriend, I say: no smoking, no drinking, no tattoos. Both paragraphs above are just some basic points that are easy to determine, the full spectrum of requirements is much more complicated. My definition of boyfriend is someone you share a room, a bed and a fridge with and have sex with regularly. One could argue that the main point is the good sex, and it doesn’t matter whether this comes from a boyfriend, a moneyboy or a sex toy. I permanently scan my surroundings for handsome boys. It happens unconsciously, only if I notice someone who is male, age 18-30, slim, dark skin, I switch on my brain and take a closer look to see if he is handsome/cute and fits my other requirements. It’s like in the movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkmc1FNLInM (The interesting part is at 00:50) No smoking, no drinking, no drugs, no tattoos, no piercings. Smoking and drugs are not negotiable. I can tolerate social drinking. I can tolerate some tattoos (religious, asymmetric tribals), others are too hideous to look at them daily (snakes, scorpions, spiders, tattoos on the neck or in the face, on the hip, “arse antlers”, symmetric tribals). He should have a similar taste in underwear like I have. None of the underwear and swimwear at Vinegar (Pattaya, Jomtien Complex) is my taste. I buy all of my underwear on street stalls in Silom. My taste is simple, I like underwear in black, white, red, green, blue, orange, violet, indigo, purple, turquoise or mixtures thereof. Regularly have good sex (every other day would be fine for me). Sexual compatibility (I am quite flexible in this aspect). No sunglasses, no make-up, no painted fingernails, short fingernails. However dyed hair and hair tattoos are ok, maybe even a plus. No fashion contact lenses, best no glasses at all. No hats except base caps. Under certain conditions, with base cap can look better than without. For all other types of hat, without hat looks much better than with hat. Hair style I like (with short hair you can’t go wrong, longer hair can be great to look at, but these hairstyles require a lot of work). The back of the skull should be spherical, or a hairdo that is spherical. Teeth are not that important anymore. I used to pay a lot of attention, preferring white teeth in a line. But not, as long as he can eat with them, it’s fine for me. Braces are no problem. I can even accept tooth jewellery (or whatever you would call these gemstones glued to the tooth). Muscular/Athletic is fine, but not bodybuilder. Slight six-pack is fine. Important is the ratio of chest or waist width to depth, it should be about 2 (I would have to make some measurements to determine the most attractive ratio). Slim is the ratio between height and weight, I like the type who is 170cm and weighs 50kg. Between 1.5m and 2.0 m I don’t care how tall the boy is, as long as he is slim. Out of these borders we are going into the area of dwarfs and giants, didn’t happen so far, I would have to decide for each case. I prefer the body shape that has the smallest point above the hip, the geometry is close to a hyperboloid, which is the shape of most cooling towers in electrical power stations. I never tried this chat-up line: “I like your body, it looks like the cooling tower of a nuclear power station!” (doesn’t matter for the shape of the cooling tower if the power station is nuclear or oil or coal or gas, but I think nuclear would give best effect), or, if he is mathematician: “I like your body shape, your torso looks like hyperboloid!”. This smallest point is exactly where I want to wrap my arms around. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperboloid_structure Fig. 1: Hyperboloid structure, geometrical representation Fig. 2: Hyperboloid structure, cooling tower in a nuclear power plant Fig. 3: Boy in my hotel room in Chiang Mai Fig. 4: Boy in my room in Bangkok Fig. 5: Arbitrary picture from gayromeo Fig. 6: Arbitrary picture from the internet Even in real life, dressed, you can see the body shape through the T-shirt. No facial hair and no body hair, that includes no hair on perineum and scrotum. Shaving can be acceptable, but often facial hair is an indicator for hair elsewhere where I don’t like it. When I feel hair on perineum, scrotum or a crab ladder, it evokes feelings like a big black hairy spider is crawling on my arm or leg. No hair below an imaginary line from ear to eye. Sideburns? Yuck! Clear change from hair to no hair on the neck, no peach fuzz. I especially like the V-shape of hair in the neck. I cannot describe what a cute face looks like, but I recognize it when I see it. But I can say that lips, chin and neck are important, nose and ears are not important. Not in love with his mobile phone (I dislike the permanent calling or messaging some of my friends do). I don’t like missed calls. If he wants to talk to me, he should be prepared to spend a few baht for a phone call. Age range 18 to 25. (And what about ageing? No idea.) South-East Asian. There are handsome boys from Japan to Indonesia, from Burma to the Philippines, but I have no experiences with these. University education would be a plus. Speaking English would be a plus, but I can imagine speaking Thai only. (My Thai is not as good that I could lead a boyfriendship in Thai, but if I had a boyfriend who speaks only Thai I think I could improve my Thai considerably). I am not into the gay scene, so my boyfriend shouldn’t be. (I only go to bars, discos, saunas to look for sex, not because I enjoy them.) I haven’t thought much about HIV. I would prefer a boyfriend who does not have HIV or other diseases. Normal eating and sleeping times. A friend of mine likes to play online games, on one occasion from 10pm to 2am. So let’s rule out excessive playing of computer games as well. Similar interests. I like travelling, hiking, riding by bicycle, running, languages, reading, mountains, forest, architecture. Would be nice if my boyfriend shared some of these interests. I can imagine discussing other subjects (politics, history, science) with friends if my boyfriend is not interested in these subjects. Do not waste food. The last time I left food on my plate was in 2011. A Thai friend used to order more coke and popcorn than both of us could east when we went to cinema (several times). One of the reasons why I stopped seeing him. I don’t need music around me all the time. There is music I like, music I am indifferent to (unless it’s too loud) and music I don’t like (no matter which volume). So my future boyfriend should have a similar taste in music (whatever my taste in music is). I don’t wear sunglasses or jewelry and prefer my boyfriend to do the same. This applies even for fuck buddies, I sometimes have to ask them to take off chains so I can access their neck from all sides and to take of finger rings for mutual wanking. I met a few boys who stood my scrutiny for several days, but usually it takes less than an hour, often just seconds, to determine that someone will not become my boyfriend (but might stay friend or fuck buddy). Pictures on gayromeo are often promising, but insufficient to cast a decision. I had one boy come to me by taxi from Lat Krabang (30 km, I gave him money for return trip), and the second he stepped out of the taxi I could say that we would not have sex. So we discussed Thai language and travelling in Thailand in my room. There is one boy in Classic Boys. I offed him three times longtime already, we get along well, he has a sense of humor similar to mine. But he has a hideous tattoo and his crotch feels like a wire brush. There was Art whom I met at Sanam Luang when I was looking for boys at Saranrom. We met several times (December 2011 to January 2012) and had good sex every time. I would like to meet him again, but he changed his phone number. He was late (1-2 hours) every time we met, could not stay over night and asked for reasonable amounts of money. His English was limited, so we had to communicate mainly in Thai. Friday (14.06.2013) I met a boy who is a perfect match intellectually and by social level. He studies and works part-time as a translator for English-French-Thai and teaches English to Thais. There is a doctor and a pharmacist in his family and he had a look at my medicine (my cold turned into an ear infection, I had to see a doctor on Friday morning) and told me what it is for. Thai-Chinese, pale skin. My friend on Koh Sichang is a fuck buddy, but I could do without the fucking part (sex is so-so). We get along well, I have been to his place about five times already. Apart from excessive computer gaming no real complaints. I just don’t feel that I want to spend more than a few days in a row with him, separated by several weeks or months of absence. As you can see, I put much importance on physical features (cute face, handsome body, hairstyle and underwear I like) than on character (and some Thai friends pointed this out to me when we discussed the subject). My current estimation of time until I find a boyfriend ranges from 5 to 50 years. And should I be lucky, we’lI have to find a way to live together, preferably in Thailand, and to find work for both of us close to the place where we live. To give you an idea how picky I am: 96% of the pictures of nude males bangkokbois post, I wouldn’t sleep with them for free, 2% I would sleep with for free, 2% I would off in a bar. From the defunct blog bangkokofthemind/bkkmindscape, I would take 20% of the boys for free. Nonetheless, up to once per day in real life I spot a Thai guy I would immediately marry and spend the rest of my life with if he was gay, interested in me and half way acceptable manners. My pickiness varies with mood, easily by a factor of ten. There are days where I think: “you, you, and you (can come with me for some fun back in my room)”, and others where I think: “No, no, no”. In the ideal gas law (PV=nRT) you can chose three properties out of four (pressure, volume, mass, temperature), the last one is determined by the law. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideal_gas_law I think it is similar with a boyfriend: out of body, face, character, love, I can choose three, and have to take the last as it comes. *I don’t remember where I read “brain dump”, but I had to look it up to make sure it’s the right word: 2. In slang, it can describe a hurried explanation of a system, job, skillset, or other software engineering subject. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_dump (We’re not done yet, I will add some pictures of boys who qualify as fuckbuddy or boyfriend when time permits.)
  14. The daily mail got it completely wrong, here are some corrections: http://bangkok.coconuts.co/2013/07/09/nein-kfc-threatens-lawsuit-against-non-existent-hitler-fried-chicken-restaurant
  15. Cafe Primavera Pizza and Jazz 56 Phra Sumen rd. Banglampoo, Bangkok 10200, Thailand (about 100 m east of the old fort and park) http://www.primavera-cafe.com/index.html A while ago, I came across this webpage (in German) and "Pizza" and "Jugendstil" (Art nouveau, ...my favorite style in architecture and interior decoration) made me prick up my ears. http://www.nikswieweg.com/reisen/thailand/thai1.htm Jugendstil interior is far fetched (there are some paintings by Alphonse Mucha, but that's all). I went there on Sunday afternoon, about 3 pm (after the fishbowl in the basement of an abandoned supermarket, different thread). I had pizza with salmon. Price ok, service quick, pizza tasty, I might go back. The only thing I wonder is the drink, I ordered Sprite and got a 245 ml (if I remember correctly) can, didn't know that such small cans exist. (Quick service - I was the only customer about 3 to 4 pm, you never know if the staff rather like to play with their mobile phones than serving me, but there everything was fine.)
  16. I went there today (bus to Khao San (correct: stop on Ratchadamoen closest to Khao san), then walking). Everything as described in the link, the only thing I would change is "200 to 300 meters" to "about 100 meters".
  17. I was waiting for someone to ask about it. It did not come with the room. It can best be described as "body fluid".
  18. Weekend in Pattaya 28-29-30.06.2013 At the end of the month, there is so much money left, and I haven’t been to Pattaya for two months, so it’s time to go again. Furthermore, my toilet was blocked since Thursday (and the blockage dissolved upon exposure to drain cleaner over the weekend, so I could cancel an appointment with a plumber for Monday.) Friday 28.06.2013 Leave earlier from work, bus 554 to Suvarnabhum, bus 389 to Jomtien, arrive 20:15. Check in at guesthouse in Jomtien Complex. Change and shower. Songteow to Boyztown. I take a look into Wild West Boys, there are two boys on stage, a third boy enters from outside, but sorry, I cannot justify buying a drink to look at three boys. At least mamasan is honest and tells me there will be no more boys due to rain (well, there was a bit of rain in the afternoon). In A-Bomb it looks much better, I stay 21:37 to 22:32. A boy I offed a few months ago is not in, but I have his gayromeo and phone number. Tattoo count: No tattoos: 53, 8, 16, 101, 45, 59, 63 Few tattoos: 90, 56, 31, 111, 33, 15 Many tattoos: 74, 21, 5, 888, 24 (?, boy offed before I could see his number clearly) There are always 8 boys on stage, the others hang around in the audience or outside. Orange juice 160 Baht. Music, aircon and light ok. A customer lit a cigarette, staff informed him that smoking is not allowed and took his lit cigarette away (to the outside). Excellent! All boys are in white briefs of slightly different styles. Number 101 and 15 might be worth offing, I tip 101 100 Baht. I am hungry and go to Beach Road to get food. There is a group of boys, one of them is cute, so I sit down next to them for eating. A boy from the group asks to have his picture taken with me, the cute boy wants a picture, too, and puts his arm around my shoulder, and I put my hand on his hand on his knee. Unfortunately, he then sits between other boys, so apart from some more smiles, nothing happens. A missed opportunity? I go back to Boyztown and see an old friend M passing on a songtaeow. I wasn’t sure if he noticed me, our last encounters were not so good, so I don’t say hello. A boy whom I offed from Kawaii a few months ago is not there (but hopefully back some time). I enter Cupidol and stay 00:05 to 00:55. Of course M noticed me and calls me now. I don’t pick up because I am in the bar and am not sure if I want to meet M. Tattoo count: No tattoos: 37, 43, 21, 22, 34, 8 Few tattoos: 25, 38, 23 Many tattoos: 40 All boys have individual underwear. Music too loud, aircon and light ok, boys and customers smoke. Orange juice 150 Baht. Number 34 and 37 are cute, I tip number 37 100 Baht. Half an hour later, M calls again. I accept his call and we agree to meet in half an hour (1:10 am) at Family Mart in Boyztown. On the way there, I pass another old friend A, but am not sure if he noticed me. He did (missed call minutes later). (“Old friend” refers to the time I have known them, everything over 2 years with several meetings/phone calls/gayromeo chats qualifies as “old”; not to their real age.) I meet M and we go to the market on South Pattaya Road as I am hungry again. Then back to my room for some fun. Two years ago, we had good sex several times, but lately it was not so good, but there is potential. M is very occupied with his mobile phone, and a mobile phone on vibration alarm somewhere in the room is enough to spoil sex for me. He hints that he needs some money, so I give him 1000 Baht. M leaves 2:50 am to meet a friend. Saturday 29.06.2013 I get up around 10:40. There are no street food stalls or cheap Thai restaurants I know of, and most of the more expensive restaurants open later. But Pan Pan is open, and I like Italian food, so I treat myself (320 B total). One of the great things of Thailand is that it caters to all: usually I eat for 30-40 Baht per meal, sometimes I treat myself for 300-400 Baht per meal, and I am sure there are places where you have to pay 3000-4000 Baht per meal (I don’t know where, but I am sure Beachlover does). I take songthaew to Dolphin roundabout. I recently read about Wongamat Beach, so I want to have a look. I walk on the beach northwards. It’s low tide, there are rocks and there is plenty of interesting marine life to observe. I walk on the beach until Sanctuary of Truth, there the way is blocked by a wall (and you can’t get in for free this way). I had to use an umbrella all the way to protect me from the sun. The last kilometers, there was no way that leads from the beach to a public road. Next to the Sanctuary of Truth is a construction site, I ask people there and one person guides me through the construction site to a public road. On Naklua road, I walk back to Dolphin roundaboud. Total time for round trip about 3 hours. I take a songthaew and walk to Tukcom, to check out the massage places around and behind Tukcom. In one place, there is a cute boy. I feel a bit thirsty, so I have a watermelon first, and when I come back, the cute boy is gone. So I ask for a foot massage and let the manager assign a boy to me. One hour foot massage from 17:00 to 17:50 (I know that’s not one hour, but don’t complain). 200 Baht for massage parlor, 200 Baht tip. The cute boy comes back. I chat with him, good English, and he goes back to Bangkok tomorrow! We exchange phone numbers.* Back to my room to change and shower, back to Sunee. Dinner at Volterra, pizza, total 325 B (this is a holiday, so I can splurge on food even twice per day!). I read some promising reports about Cocktail Boys Club, so this is my first stop (20:45-21:52). When I enter, there is no other customer (the next customer comes 21:05, then a few more) and there is no music, but six boys are on stage. Tattoo count: No tattoos: 16, 22 Few tattoos: 4, 25, 21, 9 Many tattoos: 18 4 is cute, I think he worked at Samorn bar before. He is very occupied with his hairdo. A Thai customer invites him for a drink and does his foreplay in the bar. I stay longer than usual hoping to see something I might like (the boy fully naked or wanking), in vain. His interaction with the customer looked promising, I might off him next time. The boys are in white shorts and play with their dicks (outside of the shorts). 21 has a big and beautiful cock, but is otherwise not my type. I went with 25 twice, in Bangkok and in Pattaya, but the sex was rather dull, so I don’t off him, but tip him 100 Baht. Music, aircon and light are ok. All boys are manly and in good shape. One Member of staff in Cocktail Boys Club told me that he remembers me from before. That must have been over a year ago, when it was Tom Yum Boys. He then told me that they have no more underage boys (compared to Tom Yum Boys), all boys are over 18, because the government wants to stop underage sex. That is clearly a paradigm change, I never heard anything similar in a bar before, on the contrary, I was asked if I wanted “young boy” by members of staff in other bars. I make a round in Sunee and plan to go to Boyztown, but on my way past Cocktail Boys there is a cute boy sitting outside whom I noticed before in an internet café. I just want to ask where he works, but learn that he is just hanging around (nang len นั่งเล่น) because his brother works in Cocktail Boys. Our conversation (all in Thai) is promising. He likes boys, because girls are not sincere and faithful (he used จริงใจ jing jai and ซื่อสัดย์ sêu sàt). Very strange, from what I read I wouldn’t say gays are sincere and faithful. I order drinks for him and myself from Cocktail Boys (that’s a first: drinks from a gogo bar at gogo prices for consumption outside). The waiter asks if I like him and want him to go with me, so 300 Baht off fee is added. Back in my room, I quickly realize that I was wrong: he has no sexual interest in me. I could have offed a bag of sand as well. It doesn’t have to be that way: two years ago I offed a (straight?) boy from Night boys (Bangkok Silom Soi 6, closed more than a year ago) and in bed he fell over me like a hungry animal on it’s prey, that’s how I like it! I need a plan how to deal with with this kind of boys (bag of sand), because the sex is not satisfactory. I even wonder if word spread amongst the boys that that is what I like? I tip him 1000 Baht and he leaves 23:50. A bit too early for me to go to bed. Back to Boyztown. There I come across A again. I wonder why he is in Pattaya again and not back in the army: he can get 10 days of holiday for 3000 Baht (without receipt). I go to Walking Street. Near the entrance, at the mobile Tourist Police station, two completely drunk young Farang are sitting on chairs, arm in arm, sleeping. One of them has stains on his trousers that look like vomit. One of them is sliding away, a police officer puts him on the ground. The other one is now sitting without support and slides away as well, a process that takes a few seconds, but finally his head falls on the ground from the level of the seat of the chair. I saw it coming and could have prevented it, but the police officers saw it as well and were closer. He doesn’t wake up and it seems there is no damage. Finally, the police has to tell the public that gathered to go away. I encounter two groups of breakdancing boys on Walking Street, some of the B-Boys were sitting next to one of the groups. I walk to Sunee and have another stroll. Not much activity left, but two farang beckon me to join them, it turns out they are both bar owners, one of them is German and we have a lengthier chat. Back in Jomtien Complex, I remember that I read about very low tide at night, with the water about 50 meters away from the beach. Some boys in Jomtien Complex tell me the beach is dangerous at night, but can’t tell me why. I’ve heard this before. One more reason (in addition to low tide) to go there (not because it is dangerous, but to find out why it is dangerous). Water level is normal and there is nothing I would call dangerous. Back to my room 3:25 am. Sunday 30.06.2013 I have lunch at Antz and then go to the gay beach. It looks bleak, I walk along the gay beach on the shore and on the walkway twice, there is not a single cute boy in sight. A man with a metal detector is walking along the beach (water lower than usual), but he wears headphones, so I don’t ask him what he is searching for. When I was on the beach in April, water was even lower (low tide in the afternoon) and there were two men with metal detectors. A friend told me they are searching for gold (rings, chains, watches lost in the water). Can someone confirm? I have no regular spot, if I see someone who is cute I get a chair in proximity to him. Finally, at 1 pm, I take a chair in an arbitrary section. It soon gets busier, Farang and Thai boys are coming and available Thai boys are roaming the area. I meet a Thai J boy whom I have lost contact with two months ago (in quick succession, first his mobile number was unavailable and then his gayromeo account deleted). He lost his phone and still hasn’t got a new one, but we become friends on facebook and I give him my phone number (on paper, so he can call when he is in Bangkok and has a phone). Later, M appears on the beach as well and I have one boy to my right and one boy to my left. I stay an hour longer than usually because there is a lot of activity on the beach. I leave 15:20 and travel back to Bangkok (bus 389 to Suvarnaphum, bus 554 to my place). Total costs: Friday 2467 THB + Saturday 3830 THB + Sunday 388 THB = 6685 THB. So much fun for so little money! (And sex-wise a lot of room for improvement.) I will be back soon and plan to take the train from Pattaya to Bangkok (leaves 14:14 from South Pattaya train station) for return. * Update: met him for dinner on Tuesday near his place (Victory Monument), but we couldn’t go to his room (four people staying there) and not to my room (too far and too late), so I made another appointment for Thursday at my place and gave him instructions how to go there by bus and tipped him 200 Baht. On Thursday, I sent an SMS to remind him 2 hours before our appointment (and wrote that I can help him with money for his education, this subject was brought up on Tuesday). He called 10 minutes after the appointment, saying that he can’t come because he doesn’t have money (?), so we postpone to Monday. In Europe that would be totally unacceptable (calling 10 minutes after the appointment to cancel it, especially when the it takes one hour to go there, so he knew at least one hour before that he can’t make it), but in Thailand I have to give him credit that he called. I hope we can meet on Monday. Of course I had an alternative plan for Thursday, I usually have!
  19. Two weeks ago, I ate at the food court in Central Latprao. There is no service apart from staff cleaning the table, you take your plate with your meal and go to your table, same for drinks. Yet they have a 5% service charge. Another observation is that prices are usually in steps of 5 Baht. With 10% service charge, you might get a final price in full Baht, but with 7% VAT you get fractions of Baht in the final price, which leads to rounding as there are only 50 and 25 Satang coins in circulation.

  21. There is (or was?) Budget Hilton. Two years ago, I had a look. The rooms are big, but in dark colors and very old/used, so I passed. When I walked past last week, the gates were closed (they had been open all the time before) and the building looked deserted.
  22. I don't think there is cruising in that area. There are moneyboys in front of the Malaysia, that's all. The boy I crossed paths with just came out of the Ibis. The Moonhouse (good and very cheap Thai food and my favorite watermelon fruit shake) has rooms as well. They are simple and cost 450 (?) Baht per night. I stayed there once. I once met a boy from Laos in his room in the Moonhouse, and he managed to talk me into sex (he was not so much my type). Half a year later, a friend from Austria stayed in that very room.
  23. I have been there at least twice, once during day and once with boys from Soi Twilight after work. The temple seems to be open and busy 24 hours per day. There are some cows on the temple grounds.
  24. Interesting to note that all Filipinos I met in real live (all in Thailand) spoke very good English. Of course, they are not native speakers, but a similar service from a native speaker would cost a fortune. There is a website and a program called grammarly that search texts for errors. I did copy and paste one of my articles in their website, and they found errors (but didn't say which exactly).
  25. You should check the balance with more coins to see if it is linear. I assume you weigh food by the hundreds of grams. I once had a digital scale for letters and parcels, that became non-linear, so I made a conversation chart.
