  1. You won't have much luck there. It was on decline since 2013 anyway, and now with masses of people mourning, I think the trade has died.
  2. ROFL! In Thailand, betel nut chewing is slowly being eradicated, only occasionally do I see old people in the provinces do it. In Myanmar it seem to take longer to get rid of this habit.
  3. Where does it say so? I have not even read a rule that a customer has to buy a drink for himself, but I'm sure there is one. On the other hand, there is "no smoking" posted in most bar, and that rule can be broken. But the main question is, what impression does it give when you/I refuse to bye the boy a drink, or have the boy drink taken off my bill if I didn't explicitly order it. Cheapskate or someone who knows the game and isn't intimidated into buying drinks / paying for drinks he didn't order? You have to draw the line somewhere, otherwise the money requests become more frequent and higher amounts, and this is where I draw the line. I haven't witnessed myself, but others reported about inexperienced customers who were skinned alive by bar staff because they couldn't say "no".
  4. Happened to me as well (not that I went outside to smoke, but when I called a boy staff just brought a drink without asking me and put it on the bill, and I paid). But second time (different bar) I took that bill for the boy drink I didn't order out and only paid my drink and off fee. (That's a contentious point, if you are required to buy a drink for a boy before you off him; I usually do not because I don't want to sit and drink, I want to go home and fuck!). The pictures are small on my computer, but when I right-click and open in new tab (firefox), they are bigger.
  5. "Tawan now the gogo bar of last resort" is contradictory to "this place really seems to be on its last legs"
  6. I know a few who would be delighted at the prospect of getting raped/molested on the overnight train. Joke aside, where did you get these ideas from? In addition, arriving at a railway station is a completely feeling (in a positive way) than at an airport. And I don't like security search and check-in at an airport.
  7. Yes it is. Off the beaten track and very few visitors. While only 900 m by air from National Museum, it's 1.9 km on foot. Do you have any special relation to Vietnamese? I ask because everyone else reports negatively (that includes me with two negative encounters with Vietnamese moneyboys), except two (one who has lived in Vietnam and speaks the language, the other has a Vietnamese boyfriend who assists in choosing moneyboys - if I got that right).
  8. How did you blur the faces in the screenshots?
  9. 1 Or saving a night in a hotel. Going by train is between 600 and 1000 Baht (depending on class), similar to a mid-range hotel, and the following morning you wake up at your destination. 2 That I agree with. I have taken many over night trains, and usually don't sleep well. But SRT recently bought new sleeper trains, will arrange my next over night train trip to take one of these. 3 There is not that much to see. I once took a bus CM-BKK during day, just road and cars. I take the overnight train on purpose, I would quickly get bored on such a long trip if I were awake.
  10. I had that a few times last year, boy telling during chat or just after arriving that he has only little time. If that happens, I tell I will meet another time (when I want to see him and he is not pressed for time) and say goodbye.
  11. Or the overnight train (schedule 12 hours, in reality often 14 hours). CM is definitely worth a visit. If it's your first time, one or two weeks should be enough. If you are interested in temples, there are a lot in and around CM. Boy-wise, I always liked what I saw at Adam's apple. Getting around by public transport can be tricky, details of public transport in CM see here: http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2016/07/buses-in-chiang-mai.html There were positive reports about booking taxis with uber (no personal experience). Gay friendly, joiner friendly, or to put it bland: you want to take prostitutes back to your room, has never been a problem in any of the hotels I stayed in. The only thing to watch out for is a "joiner fee".
  12. When I travel in the provinces and don't indulge in the 3 P (pizza/pasta in Italian restaurants, prostitutes, private transport), I spend on average 1000 Baht per day (hotel, food, public transport, entry to national parks or museums). However this is not generally applicable, as speaking Thai helps a lot and my standards for food, hotel, transport are low.
  13. And what did you finally pay? Not necessarily dishonest, might just be poorly organized. I negotiated a discount in Soi Twilight (300 instead of 400), the receipt showed 400, but when I told cashier that I was told 300, they changed it and I paid 300. Some people might not find it worth the trouble negotiating with doorman, and then when paying discussing it again with cashier, but I have seen the average drink price increase from 200 to 400 in about 7 years, extrapolating this means in 2025 average drink price will be 1000, and Dream Boys will lead with 1500 (drink price!).
  14. http://picpost.gboysiam69.com/ is where boys post directly, often with phone number or Line, but it's all in Thai
  15. I have been to the Royal Barge museum, and arriving on foot (many turns, through slum-like area) it's all open access. Was there any reason other than parking the car that you went into the military area? Recently when passing by bus, I noticed there are barges visible on the western side of the main road (the museum I went to is east). So there might be more than I thought. This is the one I went to: Update: satellite view on google reveals indeed boats in the open on the western side!
  16. I have no numbers as proof, but I think most of the money you pay for a drink in Soi Twilight goes to outrageous rents and bribes. In other words: you pay for someone's third wife's second car.
  17. Indeed there are few passing, might take 5 minutes waiting. The rip-off of the year (2016) was in Mae Sot, and it wasn't even me who was ripped off. Three women got on a songhteo, and their destination was off the line, and they were originally quoted 150 Baht each, but the driver accepted their offer of 100 Baht each. The detour turned out to be about 5 km. Outrageous! My fare of 50 Baht wasn't cheap either, I made a mental note next time to take a mocy taxi, as the savings by taking songtheo was not worth the wait until departure and then the detours from shortest route. Regarding standing taxis in Bangkok quoting flat fees: NEVER! In addition to overcharging, they block one lane in traffic and thus cause delays for others. (However the idea of having a taxi that doesn't have a passenger standing somewhere where it doesn't block traffic is a good one, reduces energy consumption and traffic. And indeed, in non-touristy areas taxis are standing in popular places, and turn on the meter as soon as I get in.)
  18. Farang customers are at the bottom of the list of priorities.
  19. Price comparison (all distances measured on google maps) Bangkok 1.2 km for 12 Baht = 10 Baht/km Huay Yai 7.0 km for 50 Baht = 7 Baht/km Pattaya 3.9 km for 80 Baht = 21 Baht/km Pattaya at night after disco 150 Baht for 3.1 km = 48 Baht/km http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2016/08/pattaya-quicky-fri-5-sat-682016.html Bangkok taxi 5.5 Baht/km (after first 2 km included in 35 Baht flag fall)
  20. (My underline) I don't remember whom I had sex with last week.
  21. You need a big car, but not a SUV = Sport Utility Vehicle. If time is more important than money, they hiring a car is the best solution here. Going by public transport would require at least two changes (shuttle to airport bus station - bus to Rayong - bus to pier).
  22. At each mocy taxi station, there is a clear price table for popular destinations in Thai. I posted about these here: http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2014/08/mocy-and-taxi-price-tables.html When speaking to them in Thai, no attempts to overcharge. If you always go the same route, take a picture of the price table and ask someone to translate. In non-touristy areas the prices are reasonable. Just yesterday in Huay Yai (10 km south of Pattaya), I went 7.0 km for 50 Baht. In Dec 2016 in Pattaya, I paid 80 Baht for 4.1 km. I rarely go by mocy; under 2 km I can easily walk, over 2 km taxi costs about the same and is much more comfortable and safe. I use it only when there is traffic jam or in some corners in Ladprao or Ramkhamhaeng where I can go 1.2 km for 12 Baht, and that beats walking.
  23. Why anyone would need a SUV to get from airport to hotel, or wants to have a handsome driver, is beyond me, but the free market will sort this out.
  24. There are reports that oil should not be used as lube because it weakens the latex. My only personal experience is from a disco, where in a safe-sex show condoms were blown up to about 10 liter volume and when you gently rub massage oil on them, they explode, whereas lube has no effect.
  25. I guess most of the money others pay for drinks goes into outrageous rents and bribes, actually running the bar and paying staff just a minor expenditure.
