4 hour queue at Don Mueang Airport last night
ChristianPFC replied to Jasper's topic in Gay Thailand
There is no excuse for such long queues. The minute the airplane takes off, Thai immigration knows it will arrive x hours later and there are y passengers on board and can prepare for them. On a positive note, this afternoon it took me 6 minutes to go through immigration arriving in DMK. -
I'm just back from Myanmar, where number plates on cars have only English characters and Arabic numbers, and bus lines are mainly in Burmese numbers! But asking locals, I got the right bus. Most buses have destinations, and stops in between, written in Thai on the side, and some in English as well. In 98% of cases it is pretty straighforward where the bus is going. Hua Lampong to Morchit would be northwards, board on the left side of the road. Morchit to Hua Lamphong is southwards, board on the right side of the road. Most bus stops even have arrows "inbound" and "outbound". It happened only twice to me that I took bus in wrong direction: once because I forgot that traffic in Thailand is on the opposite side of the road than continental Europe, and once on Ngam Wong Wan road where a bus that goes overall from N to S has a stretch where it is E to W.

I;m guilty of not reading the headline with the date clearly stated. There is a good chance of me being in Pattaya on that day (however not by train, the train is too early, but the return train to Bangkok is fine).

I went in February, and that was the only book expo or book sale where I didn't find anything I like (I have been many times to Neilson Hays, QSNCC, Logos Hope, and always found something to buy). http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2017/06/big-bad-wolf-childrens-book-sale-in.html

You can take train from Hua Lampong, there is about one train per hour and departure from Hua Lampong is usually on time. There is a pedestrian overpass to the airport right next to Don Mueang railway station. I'm afraid they are closed. Last times I walked past, I saw neither boys nor sign for massage. You could select a masseur the day before and ask him to come to your room in the morning.

I would love to watch, depending on their stock even join, but I'm not in Pattaya.

Theft from wallet occur in two types: When the thief is with me in my room, or we are close in location and time in other ways, he will as much as he thinks I will not notice (and if I hadn't counted money before and after, I would not have noticed). In other occasions the thief takes all the big notes, but leaves some 20s, 50s or 100s so I can still have a meal and a taxi home. And there are honest thieves: I asked one boy "did you steal 1000 Baht last time you were in my room?" and he replied "Yes". (And I forgave him and saw him several times afterwards, and would still be seeing him if he wasn't horrible unreliable and a great time waster.)

It would be very interesting to know what sum was paid for the website, and what is now paid per month (or per column). Whoever bought the website and stickman as an author, didn't think this trough or started with a tight budget.

Trip report: Bangkok, Hua Hin, Kanchanaburi July-Aug
ChristianPFC replied to spoon's topic in Gay Thailand
The driver was probably right that there are no buses or vans (not minivan!) from Mor Chit to Mae Klong. And if there are, coming from Silom it would be a detour compare to Southern Bus Station. Old Southern Bus Station (Sai Tai Gao) is still there but abandoned. -
Trains coming from Hua Lampong are usually on time, but trains going to Hua Lampong can have any imaginable delay, here it's best to check at the railway station (delays are posted at the ticket counter). 5 Baht is cheapest, some trains have only more expensive (but still much cheaper and faster than all other options in traffic jam).

A lesson I learnt the hard way (at night shortly before falling asleep, or in the morning half awake I had calls that were not important). As for Line or phone number, I prefer texting to calling, so I give out or ask for Line anyway. But a few boys I know have only basic phone without Line, or they don't have data all the time, and in these cases I ask for their telephone number so I can call them when I want to meet them and can't reach them on Line.

I wish they did! Legal issues apart, you are paying for a service. When I go to a hairdresser there is a price list, when I go to a regular massage there is a price list, only when it comes to sex there is negotiation. I use the expectations for LT/ST in various bars in various places posted here and elsewhere as price list. I don't like to talk about money and activities we will do, just see what happens. I know Soi Twilight boys expect 1500 for ST, and while I might be able to negotiate that down to 1000, that is not a good start. And not talking about money, and giving the boy 1000 at the end, would not be a good end. I take all my business to Pattaya or online, where 1000 will be well received.

This is again an example of poor management. For the floods and the droughts, the government has one year time (until the next rainy or dry season) to fix the problems that occurred this year. For reduced birth rate, the government and universities have 18 years time (or whichever time it takes from birth until someone becomes a student).

Only some saunas have naked nights or naked zones. Unfortunately I don't remember which and when, this information is spread over my blog. But 39 underground on Sat or Sun (see their website) in the evening (from 5 pm still with natural light) was one I always liked.

Some of my fellow Pattaya residents might be interested

Phnom Penh should be compared to Bangkok, and Sihanoukvill to Pattaya. From my few trips to Cambodia: food and traffic are awful, boys are cute. -
Indeed, I thought is was much more homogeneous: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laos Ethnic groups (2005[1]) 53.2% Lao 11% Khmu 9.2% Hmong 3.4% Phouthay 3.1% Tai 2.5% Makong 2.2% Katang 2.0% Lue 1.8% Akha 11.6% othera However Cambodia is homogenous https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambodia Ethnic groups (2013[1]) 97.6% Khmer 1.2% Chams 0.1% Vietnamese 0.1% Chinese 0.9% Other

Chiang Mai bus or songtheo is a bit more complicated than Pattaya, see here: http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2016/07/buses-in-chiang-mai.html http://slice-of-thai.com/cmbus/ Some places like Korat and Khon Kaen even have printed maps (free at Tourist Information) with their bus and songtheo lines!

Necking? (None of the definitions on internet make sense in this context.)
-
It might be because Lao and Cambodia are homogeneous, whereas Myanmar has many races. If a Myanmar boy says he is from Chiang Mai, he probably is and considers himself Shan, which means nothing to the average tourist ans just leads to more questions.
-
Happened to me as well. I have been to Chiang Mai several times, so I ask which amphoe they come from, and then usually the truth comes out. If I have gotten to that point, I want him and can forgive the lie. But still, the question why remains. Cambodian boys usually tell me they come from Cambodia.

With public transport poor compared to Bangkok, I choose a hotel so I can do most of my sightseeing by walking. When I went for nightlife years ago, I stayed in Chang Phuak hotel (rather expensive for my standards at 700 per night), so I could walk to Adam's apple and Chang Phuak bus station. For sightseeing around Wat Suan Dok, I stayed in Green Hotel (great value for money at 550 per night). For both hotels, I like the architectural style as well (for me a contributing factor where to stay, I wouldn't want to stay in a place that I find ugly even if it's cheap).

It was paintings by a Thai artist. Now that you ask, there is more about that auction elsewhere on the forums (gaybutton in 2012 or 2013?), and the paintings went at ridiculously low prices, and the artist complained he could have sold them for much more and donated that to charity, or something like that, from memory. There was dissent.

I'm surprised how many members here speak German, or at least can write a greeting in German.

I don't know of any bars, but there are discos that have over 98% Thai customers (Fake, Sake) and saunas (all except Babylon). For karaoke with mainly Thai customers look in Saphan Kwai area http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2014/09/chatuchak-and-pradipat-gay-bars-update.html
