I am skeptical of any poster who would use multiple identities on the same forum which, to me, is just deception. I believe the term is sock-puppets. On the other hand, pardon the pun, I see no reason a poster shouldn't change his name/avatar on some other forum or if he decided to retire his name in order to rehabilitate or revitalize himself. Koko does it all the time; it is known as the Lazarus syndrome.

Regarding the Russian bashing on this forum, please consider that some of our respected members are Russian. It must be painful for them to read what is being posted. I often times read that Americans are considered as rude tourists but, as an American, I find that hard to believe based on my knowledge of fellow countrymen.

All depends if the lights are on or off unless you have a good sense of touch.

Just for "fun" if you click on the youtube icon and view a number of traffic accidents captured by some of these cameras. Often the traffic is light but still accidents seem to occur for no real reason. Never knew that Russians drive on the "right" side of the road

This reminds me of an incident a few years ago; I was sitting at a beer bar in Sunee Plaza waiting for my bf who was parking his motorbike. While chatting with the farang owner in walks my bf and sits near me. The owner was horrified and told him to get out as he thought the bf was a street boy. After finding the truth the owner was mortified and never forgot that! The bf was in his mid-twenties but looked much younger. So best not to jump to conclusions when one sees an older-younger pair.

Regarding sales clerks I have had them lead me to the merchandise I was seeking but then being overly solicitous. So sometimes a case of too little help or too much help.

In Western countries we were familiar with cars, maps and directions from a young age but in Thailand cars were not part of their culture until recently. Even now, in Western countries, I doubt that young people could read a road map now that GPS is so readily available.

Shyatfirst; good to read that you have overcome your shyness by sharing your misfortune with us. My only advice, based on my experiences, is to change your cell number so impossible to receive any more calls and SMSs. Also if he has your email then change that. Yes, it is a nuisance but well worth it. I have done this more than once to rid myself of pests. And yes, do go elsewhere on your next visit to avoid any contact with this guy.

Shyatfirst, I accept your explanation of events as your are not the first or last to being scammed. But do understand that many of us on these forums have also been scammed by trolls who get off by posting enticing stories. As a result we can be leery especially if by a newbie. Probably we regulars are too chagrined to post the details of how we were once scammed.

Buckbee; like some others, envious of your experience. Some farang find love with well educated Thais who can fend for themselves; others find lads who are in no need of money but just love; some find entrepreneurial friends who can turn a baht into a billion; and then there are those who find love with a poor boy from Issan who depend on our largess to live a better life. Am waiting for the next installment of your adventures.
