I hate it when my friends find it necessary to check every item on their restaurant bill. Every time they do they find one of my drinks has been put on their bin.

Bob, have you no romance in your heart? Maybe it wasn't a French kiss but it was enough! In addition the caressing of each other suggested there friendship perhaps bordered on love. I would like to see the entire film but too lazy to download. Probably then, as now, many in the film world were gay and wanted to express it in this scene? I do recall my parents telling me how wonderful this movie was even though it was many years before my time. They also said it had a music sound track, so not so silent.

Ok, I cheated! A great scene on YouTube.

Although I agree that most of the boys are looking for either money or a relationship, in the long run, a relationship does mean money and security. Not that I disagree with that. And I do know of one professional Thai who is just looking for a good time.

For me it is the go go bar scene is of prime importance. Well, there is the massage houses which are an attractive alternate and there are the host beer bars. Without the go go bar it would be a lot more boring in Thailand.

I admit, I just made all that up about the dollar and the yuan as the reason for the dollar getting stronger! No doubt(in my mind) though that the Bank of Thailand is propping up the Baht to keep it at it's current exchange rate with the USD.

My opinion is the USD is getting stronger. Now, with the decline of the Euro, there are two great currencies in the world, the USD and the Chinese Yuan. The exchange rate of the dollar and the yuan remaina a straight line on a graph. All others float.

To and From the Airport During Curfew Hours - No Problem
kokopelli replied to Gaybutton's topic in Gay Thailand
Just to clarify, I was not thinking of saving taxi fare. I was thinking of those drivers who work for hotels or have legitimate limo/taxi services to and from the airport. Actually, for that matter, would the curfew apply to "official" taxi meter? Maybe by this time the curfew will be over and it is a moot point. -
To and From the Airport During Curfew Hours - No Problem
kokopelli replied to Gaybutton's topic in Gay Thailand
I wonder how the curfew may affect Thai drivers coming to the airport to pick up passengers? I suppose they could offer a proper explanation to the authorities. -
I believe I read that some protesters had blocked access to the Port of Laem Chabang not far from Pattaya. It makes me wonder if they may get the idea to close down the airport as was done by the yellow shirts. Although this would not directly affect Pattaya there would be indirect effects as before. Wait and see.

A few Good Men: Sex and Prostitution in Gay Thailand
kokopelli replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
Yes, what you write makes sense to me. The only way such a scenario might take place is if the "farang" was offering large financial inducements or the bf was in some sort of financial difficulties caused by drugs, gambling, or whatever. -
A few Good Men: Sex and Prostitution in Gay Thailand

Funny, but I don't think Rich has anything to worry about. A Thai partner might well want to have a fling with another Thai in his age range or possibly some young hot farang, but not with the "run of the mill" farang that is often seen in Pattaya or other such areas in Thailand. -
A few Good Men: Sex and Prostitution in Gay Thailand

Ah,I see! What I was disagreeing with was the "because of their own hang ups about prostitution". I don't think a farang has to have hang ups about prostitution as a reason for not wanting the boy friend remain as a sex worker. Neither altruistic nor selfish, just human nature and common sense. But maybe some others feel differently? -
A few Good Men: Sex and Prostitution in Gay Thailand

I am in agreement with you on this matter. Simply stated, I am supporting him so there is no need or reason for him to continue as a paid sex worker. I paid him to leave the trade so surely would not want him to continue. There is no inconsistency is that. -

Yes, that is all. I would think that any farang in a relationship with a Thai would not want their bf to continue "working" for money in the sex trade. I don't think that their reasons for not wanting their bf continue as a sex worker has anything to do with their "hang ups" regarding prostitution. I -

I thought I made it quite clear in my post, but apparently not. -

Fair enough. But I believe you are wrong, which is why I was expressing my personal opinion. -

Just started reading this thread and came across the quote above. I don't have any hangups about prostitution but surely would not want my Thai friend to be sleeping with other farang for money. Perhaps you speak from your own personal experience but you don't speak for me or "most" unless you can back up your generalization with facts. -

I do agree! Wi's is a dining experience not just an eating experience.

Agree with you lvdkeyes. Nothing is free in Thailand. Christian did the right thing. Easy to pass judgement on others when not directly involved in the situation.

Is it better to have a car or motorcycle in Thailand
kokopelli replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
Ouch! It is never perfectly safe to drive/ride a motorcycle. Ever, especially in Thailand. If you do want to improve your chances then also wear gloves, decent foot ware, long pants and a jacket, not the usual sandals, shorts, etc. -
I can see you are not a drinking man GT! I do like to stay long enough to get through one drink before leaving. Of course there are times when a quick exit is the best course. If I am enjoying myself I go for two drinks and usually sit with someone.

Long-term relationships -- Cultural + National differences
kokopelli replied to a topic in Gay Thailand
Even though my bf is a farang foodie I would never consider bringing him to my country. Getting a visa would be impossible and he would be miserable.
