  1. I arrive on the 16th..
  2. I've never really had to wait using Global Entry
  3. glad I am arriving a week later...hopefully less crowds at BKK
  4. Have you been to Colombia. Of all the places in S America that is the one I'd most like to visit. The apps and websites are full of hung, hot Colombians. They all seem to be really horny all the time.
  5. Given EK's financial woes this is not surprising. They still have a pretty big fleet of A380s though. For sure A350s are the plane for the future. Decent size but not too big. Huge range. Good economics. And I suppose once the 777X goes into service it will most likely be replace existing workhorse 777s.
  6. spraying a fine mist of water from a drone is just going to make the problem worse, not better. Wind is what will help fix it, not a couple of liters of water.
  7. that's a depressing story. The sheer number of unmoving vehicles is clearly a big problem. I wonder if they re-timed the traffic lights to be shorter if it would matter at all. Too many major intersections back way up partly because the lights last 2 or 3 minutes
  8. good for you. I spent several days in Yogyakarta a few years ago and really liked it there. Lots of universities there so a pretty youthful vibe. And some stupendous sights to see. I didn't have a lot of free time as I was on a private guided tour. Not sure it's a country I'd want to go back to given the current climate. But happy to hear you're having fun
  9. how was the pollution in Bangkok? I am thinking about bringing a bunch of the N95 masks and giving them out as tips. :-)
  10. I only transited DXB one time, was connecting from business to first and am able-bodied. And I also hated that airport. Took forever to get from one place to another. Almost as much walking as JFK. Not a place I am interested in experiencing again.
  11. thanks for all of the latest news. I will be there in a couple of weeks - really looking forward to it. I'll be staying around the corner at the Crowne Plaza for quick access. :-)
  12. interesting. I've been watching a number of videos on YT lately. There's a channel by a couple of expats called ADVChina. One guy is American and the other is South African. They've both lived in China for many years, have Chinese wives and family. And they are ready to pull the plug and leave China. They say it's gotten to be too much hassle to stay there as Westerners.
  13. sounds like you are building good karma points
  14. or he figured some people don't really care all that much once he arrives as they are ready to get their massage, but others who do care might not be worth the hassle? I've encountered plenty of guys over the years in various venues who ended up looking nothing like their photos.
  15. never in a million years would I have figured that out! thanks
  16. I thought Spinder was finally available, but only good on MRT (and some buses I think)
  17. This seems to be a rather antiquated and narrow view of what a "real man" is or isn't. Obviously everyone is entitled to their preferences, but attitudes like this are not helpful to our whole community IMHO. Plenty of manly men suck cock.
  18. did it work?
  19. I keep meaning to try Urban Male but never got around to it. Always handsome guys hanging out there. I found the guys at Banana to be a bit better when it was in the old place but did always manage to pick someone at the new location. I always found the owner to be very friendly which is why I kept going back. I saw one guy a few times - wiry young guy who was surprisingly well hung.
  20. I would be surprised if it was gone. He really invested a lot in the new space and it always seemed very busy every time I was there. The legit massage on the lower level is quite good. On my last visit I did an upstairs massage and then a very nice foot massage. He's the king of the upsell. :-) Were you on Soi 23 or were you looking at the old location on Soi 11? I see recent posting activity on FB https://www.facebook.com/pages/Banana-Man-Club/936933033053486
  21. My flight to PNH a couple of years ago on THAI was also a bus gate. We drove all the way to the cargo terminal. It felt like we were going to drive all the way to Cambodia. I found Phnom Penh to be a traffic-choked nightmare but was just passing through to the more remote eastern end of the country. It's nice to know there's more gay scene there now though. Thanks for the thorough report.
  22. the hotel is still in limbo. Was going to be an Edition hotel (I think part of the Marriott umbrella) but when King Power bought the building that plan came to an end. I recently read that it will be an Orient Express hotel which is apparently a brand associated with Accor. Set to open Q4 next year http://www.ttnworldwide.com/Article/288882/Worlds-first-Orient-Express-Hotel-to-open-in-Bangkok
  23. usually they raise the price last minute because they figure you're a businessman who has an urgent need to travel right away
  24. And Korean also offers free stopovers so if you want to spend a few days in Seoul (or elsewhere in SK) you can do it for no added airfare. I've done it on award flights and it's worked out well. I like Seoul a lot...fantastic public transport, some really cool architecture, some interesting historic sites, etc.
  25. what generally works for me is arriving late at night in BKK. Luckily the connections for me work out pretty well so a 1 stop in NRT or ICN gets me in to BKK around 22:00 or 23:00 after about 24 hours of travel time. Then it's right to the hotel, unpack, shower, and directly to bed. Then I wake up the next day on BKK time. For me the 12 hour difference is easier for me than going to Europe when you leave in the evening and fly a short-ish red eye arriving early in the morning. But after so many trips to Asia those 7 or 8 hour flights to Europe seem like almost nothing (it helps that I am always flying up front). For me the worst has been when I connect in the ME on the way back. I flew through Dubai on Emirates after a trip to Sri Lanka a couple of years ago and was completely exhausted for a week.
