Not if it applies to straights, as well as, gays. It actually makes sense to me, as it will stop some marriages that are just made for money. Yes, it does happen and some times one partner is unwilling. Check with one of the organizations against human trafficing if you have doubts.

I know many Thais in Chiang Mai and almost none of them will eat Beef, so the first thing that is in doubt is that they are virgins. Most of the Thais that do go into these establishments eat the chicken or the fish. Of course, I'v e tried the beef in both places and I can only describe it as very bad.

Would you Recommend for your family to visit Thailand?
KhorTose replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
Depends on where in Thailand. I would easily recommend Chiang Mai. It is a great place to visit for all, including families. The good news is that flights go in and out of Chiang Mai without going to Bangkok. The bad news is that it is China Airlines. I am stuck in Taiwan right now on the fourth schedule change this crappy airline has made. -
I am 100% against George W. and what he stands for, but to compare him with Hitler or even Fidel castro is a little strong. A better comparison would be with Howard of Australia (3 Terms), or Blair of The UK (2 terms). Come on Bush, Blair and Howard are all right wing incompetents, but hardly dictators.

I agree with the above. I have read reports that are far more damaging to Joran then this Wiki one, but I have also read reports that defend him. Let us see what happens. The only good thing about murder is there is no statue of limits on the crime. If he is a scumbag, similar to OJ, he will show his true colors. Even if he is never convicted of murder, he will probably spend time in jail, as some personality traits just do not go away.

I could not agree more with that question. I found the people to be very religious to the point of being passive. However, I think people are people, and they would rebel if they could. The army is now over 1/2 million strong. It is not only well paid by Burmese standards, but it is housed separately from the population. This housing not only includes the soldiers, but their families as well. The isolation of the Army, and the families of the soldiers allows the Junta to achieve complete control of the country. The soldiers are not only well off compared to the population as a whole, but their families are hostage to their obeying orders.

Well are just two of many reports on this just published on Google. I am taking this with a grain of salt, but it sure would be nice, if true. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?thearti...200811143283034 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4432564.stm

I spent two weeks traveling in Burma and I can attest to the suffering the people of Burma experience under this monsterous government. Two weeks is not a long time to judge a country or its leadership, but some things are so obvious that two weeks is probably too long. This is one place in the world where the real bad gays are not the west, but China. Without their help and support these two bit superstitilous morons could not last a week. As long as China gives it full support to the government in exchange for the right to rape Burma's natural resources these SOBs will stay in power. Sadly, Thailand and the other Asian countries that could, and should put pressure on China will not do so. This includes Taskin who eagerly made deals with these .....heads. Now ask me what I really think.

I beleive in innocent until proven guilty. Time has a way of showing the real truth about people and this may be the case here. However, in spite of the fact that young Joran is cute, I do not think it would be wise to walk anywhere with him. That is just common sense caution.

Come on MonkeySee. Why your pilot friends or anyone else for that matter would not wish to jump out of a perfectly good plane should be very obvious. Maybe this picture will help you to understand.

I too always try to thank everyone. However, when do you do that. In the middle of the thread or what. When people stop answering you the thread may be so far down that it is forgotten and then you re-open it with a thank you and someone else replies, etc. So now when I ask a question, I always put "Thank you all in advance."

I completely agree, but I am planning to retire in LOS. One thing you must mention if you are comparing LOS to heaven is that to get here you must first go through purgatory. Anyone tried the airlines lagely (not you Gay thailand--I mean economy class). All the airlines are canceling flights that are not booked solid and moving people around like checkers. It is hell to get here and I have been flying on a regualr basis for thirty years. This is bad and getting worse.

In country and have not had time to write till now. In Bangkok and leaving in two days for seven days in Cambodia with my special someone. I just read this thread and this board has gone from a man suicide to fantasy about prison gang rape. I knew if I quit writting for a while that the topics would degrade, but really now---where did the board's class act go to? I can see you all need a good spanking and I did bring a whip.

The reviews were in complete agreement that this movie is a disaster, so the movie's name is appropiate

America is great but this is just sad. Not only is there the no will to do this in this Administration, but there are not enough FBI agents to do so. I am a liberal, but the Dems are just as guilty on this as anyone. Bankers give big money and ask to be deregulated and both Dems and RePs went along. Try to prosecute the Bankers and they would haul 1/2 of congress into court to explain why they did what they did.

I could not agree more, and I also think you can find much about Pattaya to appreciate that is outside of the gay areas. Take your boy to the beach, the aquarium or to the amusement park, e.g. Come to Chiang Mai with someone who knows the city and I guarentee you a good time. Some of the best food in Thailand, less expensive then Bangkok or Pattaya, large community of ex-pats, both straight and gay--who freely mix and socialize with each other---Handsomel boys (not in bars), and a great countryside with real mountains, water falls, animal farms, hiking trails, etc. Oh, did I mention Handsome boys. In case I forgot---handsome boys.

Not quite true. The majority of the no votes came from the black community, who are still very homophobic. Sadly, this attitude not only hurt us on this initiative, but also is the main reason for the high incidence of HIV in the black community. Obama, who I have supported with my time and money, does not believe in gay marriage. However, he does support full rights for gay couples. To me, this is fine. Call it an abomination if you want, but give us the same state and federal rights that straight couples enjoy. On another note, this will be challenged in the courts and we should win in the California Supreme Court.

I remember, and I hope you enjoyed the sugar cane I bought for you to eat. Of course, you know I have no room to talk, I never go into the water without making sure no harpooners are around.

Lawrence wrote----"Often when speaking with people I mention my travels to Thailand and get the response " Oh, I hear Thailand is a beautiful country"! I reply, "no it is hot, dirty, smelly, dangerous and sleazy". They then say "then why do you go there?" Without revealing the full truth I say "for the sleaze"! For sure, my experiences have been in the major cities with some excursions into the countryside, but I have never really seem much beauty. Perhaps there are pockets of beauty as there are pockets of sleaze, Pattaya being the sleaziest and my favorite, with the rest being somewhat bland. I would like to hear of others opinions and experiences." I tend to stay in and around Chiang Mai, just because there is very little of what you call sleaze. Most Thais I meet are good hard working people, just like you meet anywhere else in the world. Don't get me wrong, I too enjoy sleaze now and then, but overall I just prefer a more "real" relationship with the country and its people, rather then the somewhat (to me) artifical bar, boy, massage, etc. scenes. However, do not read this as a criticism of people who choose the sleaze scene. If you can keep it up (no pun intended) go for it.

I have never worried about sting rays or jellyfish. My biggest worry about the beaches in Thailand is whether or not the water is clean, or I am swimming in someone elses ..... You get the point.

OBAMA WAS JUST DECLARED PRESIDENT ELECT OF THE USA. THE NIGHTMARE OF REPUBLICAN RULE IS OVER.

I am not superstitious and I am usually reluctant to participate with superstitious nonsense like this, but being worried about my country I decided to consult the Augeries and haruspices. As of 0830 your time the state of Pennsylvania was announced as being won by Obama. There is no way McCain can win now. It will be hours before the press announces the USA win for Obama, but it is all over but the shouting.

I never got the chance to stay at the Bondi. The last time I came to Pattaya I called them and they booked me a room. One week before I arrived my friend returned from Pattaya, and told me they were closed. I quickly booked at the Poseidon, and when I called the Bondi I got no answer, no email, etc. What a bunch of inconsiderate people. I could have showed up and not had a room to stay in. Could it have been that hard to send me an EMail?

I also believe this to be true. My dreams: 1. I would like to see American troops used to end conflicts and not start them. 2. I would like to see American troops (with others or under the UN) used as buffers between some of the tribal societies that think the path to unity is to kill the opposition. 3. I would like America to be the leader in achieving peace in the Middle East. 4. I would like America to insist that all trade with any other country depends on their, and our products having a little as possible impact on the environment. 5. I would like America to develop and make affordable the best education system in the world. 6.. Finally, I would like to see America return to being the country that leads the world in how we administer justice and treat our citizens. Darn, I can see right now, I am going to have to back off on smoking pot again.

Not sure either, but my gut says the same thing. I think going in a new direction and developing alternate energy resources will propel us out of this slump. Obama is correct that America needs to come together, and one more thing I hope the dems do is re-impose the equal time rule. Much of the division in America and power of the right wing is coming from the hate mongering that is bombarding the airwaves. Sure be nice for the morons to get both sides of an issue. "Death to Fox news and talk radio".
