Hell no, not at all. What bothers me is that he does not believe in a women's right to choose, any extension of civil rights, a right to privacy and (from a recent decision) the exclusionary clause in a criminal case.
  2. No GB, Israel definitely attacked first in 1967, but she did so to counter a very real threat from Egypt and Nassar. She also attacked first in 1956 but with the aid and cooperation of England and France. Many argue that she started the violence in 1948, but that is very debatable. Israel was set up by UN Charter, but the boundaries were broken up and very small. Only 1 mile wide at one point. The 1948 war set Israel's first boundaries not the UN charter. The original charter allowed the Palestians to stay on thier land, they left it for two reasons. 1. Some of the hostile arab counties asked them to leave. 2. The Irgun (Israel) killed everyone in an arab village and fear of that happening to them pushed the Exodus even more. 3. The arab countries refused to accept the Palestians forced off their land as their citizens, and thus the camps and the continuing hatred. One exception is Lebanon where the Christian Palestians were accepted but not the Muslim. 4. It will end only when we have an American President strong enough to force a peace on both sides, and stand up to the strong Religious Right movement in the USA, and the Israeli lobby.
  3. Okay I goggled Puna and came up with these---none of which seem to fit. Please, what the heck is a Puna? From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Look up puna in Wiktionary, the free dictionary.Puna may refer to: Puna (geography), one of the eight physiographic regions of Peru Puna (mythology), the king of Hiti-marama or of Vavau in the Tuamotu legend of Rata Puna (wind), a type of wind in the Andes Puna, Hawaii, a district in the east-southeast portion of the Island of Hawaiʻi Puná Island, an island off the coast of southern Ecuador Battle of Puná, a battle fought between Spanish conquistadors and Puná natives Puna grassland, a type of grassland in the central part of the high Andes Altiplano or Puna, a region that covers part of Bolivia, Peru, and the northern end of Argentina and Chile Maihueniopsis or Puna, a cactus genus Puna de Atacama
  4. I loved the inauguration, but I must admit I got a kick out of seeing Cheney in a wheelchair. I so wanted to hand him a monocle and ask her to do his Doctor Strangelove routine, as that is what immediately came to mind when I saw him in the chair. If they ever do that movie again, he would be perfect for the part.
  5. Shebavon, sorry I am going to have to steal a quote that Wesely uses on another Web site. I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant. - Robert McCloskey Lack of sleep when I wrote this is my only excuse, and I sincerely apologize if I have offended you with my, less then specific and very poor choice of words. However, I will stand by the following choice of words. The majority of the "Jews of Israel" have become Nazi-like. As to the why I said that it would take up pages and you already know most of it. Suffice to say the following: 1. I did not like the Irgun's (Etzel) actions at Deir Yassin in 1948. 2. Ben Gurion is on record from 1936 on as saying Israel's borders should be the biblical borders. 3. The deliberate attack on the Liberty in 1967. (I was in the Army Security Agency at the time, and yes, the attack was deliberate. 4. There is justification for Attacking Egypt in 1967, but not Syria and Jordon. They were provoked by Israel. Dylan himself is on record as stating this. 5. The seizure of homes and land in the West Bank from the Palestinians 6. The building of settlements on that land by right wing religious "god is on our side settlers". It is okay to be the chosen people, but not to act like other people are inferior and of no consequence. 7. Sixty years of defying UN mandates. These are just a very few of the high points. I could spend some time and give you many other points and quotes, some from Israelis and American Jews who agree with my Nazi-like assessment, but as I said earlier, you know most of this. I have been reading you post and you are to well read and informed not to know there is great dissent inside the Jewish community as a whole, and inside Israel specifically. I am not the first to make this comparison and it is not only Gentiles or Arabs saying this. Come on now.
  6. I would even say it was more basic then a history lesson. If someone wrongs you and causes you to hate so bad that you become just like what you hated to begin with, who has won? The Jews so hated what happened to them during WWII at the hands of the Nazis, that they have allowed themselves to become Nazi-like themselves. That they have allowed this to happen to them, is one of the saddest chapters in the long history of a great people.
  7. Ahhh good one Bob, but the reality of a quarterback (Orlovsky) running out of the back of the end zone for a safety at Minnesota, was funny enough. I bet he was thinking, "those guys are big and they look like they are going to hurt me". Astrro, I guess we will have to give you European's your due. We will let you call soccer "football" and try not to laugh at your little men in shorts.
  8. I don't stay in Pattaya long term, but on my first short trip I stayed at Yensabai condo which has weekly, as well as, monthly rates. I found it a very good deal, and it is close to boys town and Sunee, and a short walk to the red buses. The rental agency was Pattaya rent-a-room. http://www.pattayarentaroom.com/
  9. At the end of day how do replace the gray matter destroyed by this practice?
  10. I think the Steelers will win, thats why I will take your bet. I've been wrong up to now, so maybe I am wrong this time to. So your on. The only thing I can say about my home team (Seahawks) is that they sure play better then the Lions. Great season this year for you guys. I mean you could have won at least one game.
  11. Exactly what I would call Bush's presidency, "A journey into hell". Well, for the readers and poets amoung us, now is the time to grap the fur of Lucifer enter the center of the earth and emerge (be reborn) free and wiser.
  12. I know I can't get enough of them. Without my Mexican chocolate every morning I could not function. Viva la theobromine. Seriously, it is our problem. However, we will never solve it by making it a criminal problem. America need to treat drug use and addiction as a medical problem and get the damn dealers out of the equation before we corrupt the whole world. Free enterprise does work, and the drug trade is living proof of the effectiveness of the system.
  13. I've tried Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket which I collectively call all the rest. I will stick with Chiang Mai which to me is clearly the best. Okay, each to his own guys. I just love the area and the Farangs I meet here.
  14. Well I am two loses for two. Oh well, that is what is so good about American Football. Any team is capable of beating any other team in the NFL. (However, both of my picks were underdogs going in.)Okay, Pittsburgh for the winner of the superbowl over Arizona. They are playing in Tampa. Having said this, and in light of my last predictions, you may be wise to bet on Arizona.
  15. Today Hamas also agreed to a cease fire in Gaza. Maybe, just maybe they have got so tired of killing each other we may look for some kind of peace. However, I have been accused of being an optimist before, and it may be true this time.
  16. Yes, and was I surprised to hear that. It made me start tipping much more in line with what many of you suggest above. It is both a "fool and his money thing", and a weak heart rather then a good heart thing. You seem to lose a lot of respect by throwing money around, just to show you have it.
  17. The published some of the testimony of the pilot and co-pilot today. One thing that came out was that everything happened so fast that no one had time to activate the "ditch switch" that sealed the airplane. This must be some incredible plane, as it was still floating until they pulled it out of the water yesterday. Sorry Boeing, Airbus forever.
  18. Let me see now. In Thailand I can catch, dengue fever, malaria, Japanese enchiphalitis, Typhoid fever, Hepatis A, B, & C, HIV, and now the often fatal bird flu. That is assuming I do not get bit by a cobra, eaten by a tiger, fall(?) from my balcony (with or without handcuffs), or shot by a police officer. Tell me again why I like Thailand. Oh, now I remember
  19. Only in the eye (?) of the beholder.
  20. The movie is getting very good reviews. On another note I had posted a comment here that I had to go back and erase. Thank you Fountainhall and Shebavon for getting back to a reasonable discussion. I just wish some of those dogmatic queens on Baht stop would try to engage in a discussion. Now all you get from them is statements without facts and ad homonym arguments. I know it is hard thing to do, especially around this complex and emotional issue, but cudos to both of you.
  21. I watched it live on TV. Great landing, strong plane, fast rescue response. Plane was still floating long after all the passengers were off and they were pushing the plane out of the Hudson with tugs. From now on I will fly A380's and I want that pilot. Even living in Seattle where I am surrounded by Boeing I must admit Europe did a great job with this plane.
  22. Sorry GB, I completely disagree. What is absurd to one person may not be to another. Let me expand if I may. I truly think calling the cops if someone is smoking in a bar is absurd, especially in Thailand where the last thing I want to see get involved is one of Thailand's finest BIB. Pointing out that there are other things going on just as dangerous as smoking in a bar, that we would never consider calling the cops for, is completely fair game to me. By the way, I am not a smoker. However, you are the moderator, but I say your call is unfair at the best.

    Laos

It is illegal, but the tourist dollar is far more important then the rule. I had no problems in either Vietianne or Lao Pabang, nor did any of the other Farangs I talked to. Someone wrote that law to look good, but trust me, no one cares.
  24. Should not his Library contain the books and writers that influenced him the most? The Living Bible by Ted Haggard, or how God wants you to do meth and have a call boy. Winning the war in Iraq by Donald Rumsfield. Hiring a man to do your thinking for you by Dick Chaney. CIA the best in Intelligence by Mr. "Slam-Dunk" George Tenat The art of public speaking by Donald Duck and finally, winning friends and influencing people by Edward Hyde
  25. Thanks, I had a great laugh this morning. Where did you find this?
