  1. Both a great concept and a definition of adulthood.
  2. Would I be incredibly cynical if I were to suggest that the BIB has a vested interest in stopping all kinds of sex trade where they cannot collect tea money? That may play some part in this. In fact, I am surprised they don't block the gay dating sites.
  3. First off, if I was going to have a drug czar, he would not be from law enforcement but from the medical profession. Having said that, and having given your question a lot of thought, I have decided that Gil is possibly one of the best choices Obama could make. He is very intelligent, he is personable, and a very astute politician. He did campaign against the city ordinance that made Marijuana the lowest level of enforcement, but when it passed he did instruct his officers to back off. When he arrived we already had a medical Marijuana law, that had just been passed, and he has been very careful to instruct his officers in what it meant and make them leave the legal growers, and users--under the law--alone. He has actively campaigned for and supported drug court where offenders are not sent to jail. He did two things that did not set well with Seattle, but both of these things were at our idiot Mayor's request. Seattle is one of the most liberal areas of the USA, and he has functioned here very well. So I would say he is a very good choice by a liberal administration, and if the signals from the top are for a more coherent and less harmful drug policy, he would be the perfect man to carry them out. So if I had to pick a cop, he would be my choice. No more mixed feelings---Go GIL.
  4. Today, the Obama administration announced the appointment Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske to be the nations new Drug Czar. http://www.kirotv.com/news/18684500/detail.html I have had the pressure of working with Gil since his appointment in 2000. NOT IN AN OFFICIAL CAPACITY. I have some mixed feelings about this appointment: 1. Seattle is losing a good police chief 2. The Mayor of Seattle will probably appoint the wrong Assistant Chief to take his place. 3. Gil fought against a simple Seattle City Law that was supported by 70% of the population that put Marijuana at the lowest level of enforcement. 4. He is on of the strongest advocates of gun control in the nation's police force. 5. He has fought against a police review board, and often disregarded recommendations for discipline from the city's Office of Professional Accountability board. 6. He has made some very good choices for Assistant Chiefs and Precinct Captains. 7. Crime is at its lowest in 20 years. As I said mixed feelings, but probably an excellent choice for a very difficult job. If nothing else Gil is an intelligent and capable man who knows how to play politics.
  5. What a simple "sorry about that" is not just compensation? Actually. in the USA the incident would immediately go to lawyers, no-one would admit quilt, and a quite settlement would be made. A guilty party actually admitting guilt sounds kind of refreshing to me.
  6. Helen worked for a major wire service for years. As the first women in the White House press corp she first covered Kennedy and started a trend of being the first to be called on and ending the press conference with "Thank you Mr. President." She hated Bush........Okay I stop here as I just found a good Wiki article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Thomas Basically, putting her front and center again is a subtle slam on Bush and his presidency.
  7. HFR='s huge fucking router='s crs to 1 BFR='s Big fucking router='s GSR (1200) cisco biggest until the crs
  8. What am I supposed to do? I voted for, gave money to, and actively worked for the Obama campaign but I hate his stimulus plan. He is trying to be bipartisan to a group of radical religious nuts that can only recite one mantra. They sit in their ivory tower under the picture of George W. and chant TAX CUTS over and over. Obama in this package has catered too much to them, and in doing so he is setting himself up for failure. There is no more help for the states, where money could be put to immediate use and there is a stupid plan to give people who buy a house a 1500 tax credit. I plan to sell my home to my brother, and then he can sell it back to me and we will both get rich at the government fountain. These are just two dumb ideas in what is an under funded and scattered plan, that will only lead to another bailout down the road. Lets do it now and lets do it right. This is why I voted for the man. Quit putting the horse before the cart, and heal the nations economic woes first and then the GOP will have to fall in line and become bipartisan. It really pisses me off to see him cater to these dunder headed assholes.
  9. This sounds like a great new source of tea money for the BIB. I wonder how many gas stations will now start selling alcohol now that it is against the law .
  10. Hanoi has a lot more to offer and you are close to Halong Bay a must see natural wonder. Of course this is only my opinion.
  11. Yes, and no. I always pay the driver 10 to 20 Bht, but rarely use the Baht bus. Thai's have a fixed rate for Thais, but there are so few farangs that we are targets for higher prices. One reason they get away with this is there are no motorcycle taxis in Chiang Mai, and the tuk tuk drivers are the worst greediest bastards in the world. I always rent a car, and when I move to Chiang Mai I will buy both a car and a motorcycle to get around. Lately, we have seen the appearance of metered Taxis which are proving themselves to be very popular.
  12. Listen, the HFR is far better then the BFR. There is no excuse for not learning the system. It is far better then to suffer from it. Part of me agrees, but the Frenchman, who invested the charity's money through Madoff, and subsequently hung himself, took all the fun out of it.
  13. Why is there two different spellings of Bernie's name, and why would he ever be a hero?
  14. No born in California, live in Washington. If you are ever up this way stop in, and I will work on that virginity of yours. Truthfully, you are better off with no drugs. However, if you drink--especially to excess---then I would recommend you switch to marijuana. You will live a hell of a lot longer.
  15. Just another example of what everyone but the "good guys" seem to know. Marijuana is safe and beneficial, and I sure wish these stupid laws would go away. If I ruled the world I would give that mikman a medal.

    DUSIT HOTEL

The Dusit in Chiang Mai does not charge a joiner fee, and I know of no problems with bringing boys back. Bangkok Dusit--I have no idea, but think if it is okay in Chiang Mai, it may be okay in Bangkok.
  17. Listen if all I wanted was to live without gay prejudice I could pick several countries in Europe. Come-on--now GB, I think you are here because of the supply of young men, the relatively inexpensive cost, the wonderful climate and did I mention the young men? Again, to get serious, I am jealous of Europe being so far ahead of the USA in gay rights. More and more we are looking like some backward religious country rather then the leading nation in the world.
  18. It is against the law to smoke marijuana or be in possession of drug paraphernalia.in my state in the USA, and I believe that to be true in most of the other states. (1) It is unlawful for any person to use drug paraphernalia. to plant, propagate, cultivate, grow, harvest, manufacture, compound, convert, produce, process, prepare, test, analyze, pack, repack, store, contain, conceal, inject, ingest, inhale, or otherwise introduce into the human body a controlled substance. Any person who violates this subsection is guilty of a misdemeanor. Yes, it is clearly illegal. However, some laws are just stupid. This, is just one example of a law that has no rational basis for being a law. I have been waiting for years for someone to show me that marijuana is more harmful then drinking or smoking. Hell, it is not even close to those two in causing harm, and yet we criminalize thousands every year for smoking it.
  19. Two additions to GayButton's great list: 1. Mosquito coils---Coils of repellant that when lit, drive mosquitoes away. 2. A repellent that contains DEET. Guaranteed to work.
  20. Oh yes, Machu Picchu day where the Peruvians honor the great alligator god and his teachings. Of course in Peru they also honor the god by cutting out someone's still beating heart. In Thailand they seem to be happy just lifting your wallet. Seriously, this is a great Thai holiday and it is celebrated differently everywhere you go in Thailand. Well, worth checking out the local variations.
  21. You and I are in complete agreement on this one. Okay, I will pass it on. Boycott Kellogs
  22. Sorry Sam, you and I disagree on this connection. First off, while I have no trouble linking Afghanistan with 9/11, Iraq was just a stupid decision by a stupid man and his corrupt war industry Vice President I just cannot blame 9/11 on our support of Israel. Before we supported Israel her best ally was France, prior to France, the first country to recognize and aid Israel was the Soviet Union. We have only really been in the game since 1972. While a lot of money from the US was going to Israel most of it was in Bonds paid for by Jewish Americans. Yes, we did give Jewish Americans a tax break, but we did not support the nation to the extent we do today. I am an agnostic, but I can say one good thing about Christianity, and to a lesser extent Judaism, in that it can change interpretations when reality changes. For example, when we find out that the earth goes around the sun, rather then the other way around, the bible and the text can be reinterpreted to fit reality. Some times it takes awhile, but it does happen. The Jews await a Messiah and Christians await the return of the lord, and both religions are still subject to change and interpretations except by the vary conservative, who think words written over 1000 years ago still apply to a modern society. Fortunately these 'set in stone' thinkers, are still a minority, although a very vocal part of American Judaism and Christianity. Unfortunately, this ability to change is very difficult in the Muslim faith. Not only was Mohammad a prophet, but he was the last Prophet of the Lord. There can be no others, and there is no further word to be had. Everything from television to blood transfusions has to go before a court of imams who can issue a fatwah to allow something, but with some of the most convoluted reasoning known to man. They are stuck in a society where public behavior is seriously prescribed. As an aside, the religion gets away with this rigid structure by allowing absolute privacy in the home. In public behave, in private---party on down. This public prescribed behavior is set down by Mohammad in the Koran, also by stories and how he lived his life, and by the lives of the first 12 caliphs who succeeded Mohammad. It is combined in several variations into a school of law called The Shiria, and it is not subject to change. To achieve harmony, all must live their lives this way. So what happens when a society like this tries to live in the 20th century where women are free to do what they want, and where things are done in ways never visualized by the Prophet? Something has to give and rather then change--what is suppose to be unchangeable---many find it easier just to demonize the West where most of these ideas and new ways of looking at things come from. No matter what we did or did not do, the West was and will always be a serious threat to this or any other rigid structure like the Moslem faith. Rather then confront their faith---not an easy thing for most people---they find it easier to challenge and demonize the messages that bombard them daily from the Western World. I think this rigidity of faith is far more a factor in 9/11 then anything we did in supporting Israel. The West with its science, with its human rights, with its freedom of believe, and with its overwhelming technological abilities is the main threat to their way of life, and Israel has very little to do with it. At most, it is only an excuse by the Muslim fanatics to try to justify a proscribed way of life that is long overdo to change. Now do not take this wrong. I am not condemning all Moslem. All faiths have fanatics in them. I am only saying that the Moslem faith has a built in tendency to have more then the West does at this period in history. It is interesting that when they ruled Spain, and first ruled Egypt, and in India under Babar, none of these cultures had problems with changing theology to fit reality. I have faith in people. The Muslims have broken out of their rigid mold before, and I hope they can do so again. In the meantime, the religious fanatics among them will use Israel or some other excuse to attack the West. However their real reason for hating the West will still be, that they are daily faced with many contradictions between what they truly believe is the correct way to live, and the way people live and prosper elsewhere. Blaming the West will always be easier then blaming the present structure of their faith.
  23. These sickos use a hundred excuses to justify their sickness. Psychology is not based on anyone's biblical morality, and it universally condemns sex with children who are prepubescent, and then you have people like Annan (who also posts under under names) on SGT. http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum...act-t17082.html What is interesting is that no discussion of underage sex is allowed on that forum, but statements like Annans are allowed, and because of that rule, often go unchallenged. It has frustrated at least one bar owner who has tried his best to stop this crap in Sunee, and it frustrates others who know what damage child sex causes its victims. It makes me seriously question that board's policy and the reasons for establishing it.
  24. Is it me or do you two mean you agree with Cliff. Am I reading it wrong?
  25. I could not agree more. So why haven't they moved in this direction? I am serious about asking as it is puzzling to me. I can think of no reason why they want their citizens to have only one option to escape the farm. Well, I should say no good reason, but I can think of some not so good. This would make a great seperate topic?????
