  1. I will freely admit that this report is pro Thaksin and was commisioned by him, but I find it an outstanding read of what has occurred in Thailand in the last four years. Warning, rather long and detailed, but a great read. White Paper: The Bangkok Massacres – A Call for Accountability | Robert Amsterdam Thailand
  2. This is what Fountainhall and I have both been saying from the start. I am really surprised that they took this way to get out of their dilemma, as it makes the despots running this country look more ridiculous then usual.
  3. Here is one i would like to enter into both Thai smile and sexy Thai boy, but I am prejudiced.
  4. I repeat what fountainhall said in an earlier post. "The Thai police had no idea they were dealing with such a well known personality." I admire his courage and respect his decision to stand up to them in court. I have a strong suspicion that the police charged him, hoping for a payoff of such kind to make the charges go away. This man is not in the same catagory as Kevin Quill. To convict him they are going to have to have tons of proof that would stand up in any Western court, or they are going to get a black eye the Thai justice system will never recover from. In the world of Classical Music, this man is one of the superstars, and there will be a lot of people watching this case.

    Polanski Freed

I have found this interchange fascinating. In the end, I have to come down on the side that says what the Judge and the prosecutor said in private should be released. It clearly appears to me that it was pertinent and related to the sentencing in some way. One of our cornerstones of our justice system is a fair and open trail, and to me that should clearly apply to any discussion about sentencing. Simply, they should release the document, or let Polanski go based on a simple principal of common sense that says, "If you have nothing to hide, you hide nothing."
  6. GB, I agree completely with fountainhall on this. He is one of the world's best and very unlikely to disappear.
  7. I may be getting a little laugh over these postings. It seems to you that this case stinks and has the appearance of being a miscarriage of justice. From what you post, I am inclined to agree with you. The only thing worse then child molestation is the false accusation of child molestation. Where I see the humor is that you are upset about just this case, where I think almost everything this government has done lately stinks, and I am not the least bit surprised by fiascoes like this. Justice of any kind is a joke in this country, for all but the connected. You, of course, are correct in that the authorities had no idea that he was such a well know personality. He will be found innocent, whether or not, he actually is. He is far too big a name.

Okay, you know your welcome anytime. No grits, and I guess you will not let me substitute corn pone so I will stick with one of your state's gourmet dishes. Yes, good old peanut butter waffles---ecccch.
  10. Very informative, Thank you.
  11. Seattle's Gay Pride Parade had a great turnout, and was well supported by the whole community-both straight and gay. This years theme is, as usual, over-the-rainbow. I make them all the time, but you will have to come over to my house in Chiang Mai to get them. If that is too far just take some local ground pork (which already has plenty of fat mixed in it), some black pepper, sage, red pepper, salt and mix it all together with just a dab of water added to aid in the mixing process. Add ingredients to taste or look up a recipe. Easy to make and hard to go wrong.
  13. I am becoming very disenchanted with the world cup. Weird ball, bad officials, and an organization that makes a tons of money, but no one knows exactly where it goes or what it is spent for. This is clearly a case where someone, or should I say some country, needs to start their own version of the world cup. I am very surprised that no one hasn't done that already. I suspect that if football (soccer) becomes more popular in the USA that some American group will do so. Look at it this way, it would be hard for an American group to do a worse job. I got it, we can call it the world's Soccer cup, to distinquish it from the real game of football.
  14. Sorry, it should be two words zu tag or to day. I was using my bad German I learned from the Swabian people who lived in the area I grew up in. I was trying to have a play on the old Hilter quote of, 'Heute Deutschland, morgen die Welt!"
  15. Zutag Amerika, bis morgan Der Englander.
  16. Yes, but do not forget that they are the winner of group C, doing better then that country of old pommies (I have Australian friends.) It use to be that we in the USA said Canada was our 51st state, but with the economy and unemployment in America, we now wish we were one of Canada's States. Heck we would even accept being a territory.

    Phnom Phen

While you are in Phnom Penh, I would recommend you might try the disco "Heart of Darkness". It is very gay friendly and cruisy.
  18. Well we have a good chance to move on to round two as FIFA recently announced the referee assignments for matches 33-40 and Mr Coulibaly (The official who made the bulls... call against the US) was not included. Frank De Bleeckere, a Belgian, will referee the United States-Algeria match Wednesday, his third game of the World Cup.
  19. This citizen of the USA never heard of it, and I was in management of a food processing company for years. So I too sign on to the do not use acronyms, or if you do, explain it the first time and then use it as often as you like in the rest of the message.
  20. I wish to add to this by saying I would not have had nearly the fun I did on my first trip to Thailand without all the valuable information on GB's board. He had information and advice that I found on no other board. It was informative, accurate and well thought out advice. Instead of blocking his site, Thai tourism should have given him an award. I would hazard a guess that this board helped hundreds of gay men and made many choose Thailand for their vacation spot. Even when I am in disagreement with him, I can never forget the debt I, and I am sure others, owe to him and his board.
  21. Not in my book, but I am in the minority even in the gay community. Look up the word metaphor, or are you just joking.
  22. No, he should call the cops or tell his parents who should call the cops.
  23. Not really the same thing Revenge is SELFISH Justice is SELFLESS Revenge can lack justice and justice can be done without taking revenge. Justice is the legal responsibility of a government toward those it governs. Revenge is the individual's attempt to circumvent the government's responsibility Justice, performed well, brings closure. not so revenge. OR to put it simply: Justice "God'll getcha for that!" Revenge "I'll getcha for that!"
  24. If you ever come to Northern Thailand, I really recommend the Sai Oua sausage. You can eat it as a hors d'oeuvre with ketchup or your favorite sauce. Add it to eggs in the morning or put it on top of a good salad. It has an after bite, but it is delicious. Ask your Thai friends who travel and they will tell you about how good it is.
  25. To my way of thinking, if there were no gay bars then homosexuality would be illegal or very discouraged. I am not really comfortable in countries like that. If that were the situation, then the boys would still be here, but they would be in the closet and somewhat screwed up in the head (see the Phillipines).
