  1. Yes, but engines shutting down, tires blown etc. If you have a fear of flying DO NOT go to this URl, but if you want facts try this web site. You will find that the a320 has had a lot of problems, and airbus (all) in general does worse then Boeing. http://aircrashobser...380&t=news&r=20
  2. I have not been posting because I have been on vacation in Europe. I missed the row where Fountainhall quit posting on this board and so I do not have any particulars to add on that issue other then I will miss his input. Even though he is often wrong----just kidding ---he has displayed a very sharp intellect and a willingness to debate within the rules of civilized discussion, and it is this boards loss if he is not posting here anymore. Is there someway we can get him back?
  3. I am afraid our last chance to stop this slide passed with the 2000 election of Bush. It will take a long time before our country can recover from that disaster.
  4. Very busy having a great time, but I hope none of you feel you are not loved just because I have not be active on the boards. AAAAhhhhh
  5. Step one take over the government by coup. Step two get control of the courts and rule any democratic government as illegal. Step three declare a state of emergency making protest by your enemies illegal. However your supporters are still allowed to protest Step four shoot protesters Step five jail all opposition. Step six kill you enemies by any means anywhere they can be found. I could go on but the REAL terrorist in this country are just now working on step six. http://www.bangkokpo...n-thaksin-plane However, the subsequent steps wherein parliament is suspended and the rule of law makes way for the rule of personal power and privilege will soon become apparent. I am leaving for 31 days in Europe in 2 hours and just thought I would leave this gem to allow you all to get as many posts as possible.
  6. Yes, after the trail and the hearing Sondi and his group will no longer be yellow shirts. They will now be wearing white shirts dyed from the giant white wash they will have gone through.
  7. Yes, I've been to the site and yes, that is why it is blocked. I am afraid I cannot explain about the why on any Thailand web board.
  8. Darn, I am afraid I cannot make it. I and the BF are leaving for 31 Days in Northern Europe, but we will be there in heart and mind. Hope everyone has a good time. Maybe if this meet and greet works out we will have them more often and I will try to make the next one.
  9. I agree with no censorship of anything, but calling BBC one end of the extreme seems extreme. Fox news deliberately slants and distorts it news , and while BBC may get it wrong at times they do try to be fair and balanced. I find Fox makes no attempt at all to fairly report the news. It sounds like during WWII you would be calling BBC one end of the extreme and Joseph Goebbels the other extreme. Both Fox and Goebbels like to use the tactic call the "Big Lie" in that the truth does not matter, just repeat the lie often enough and enough people will believe it to make it true. Is is kind of ironic right now that at this time the worlds best news network is now from the Middle East. Al Jazeera is by far a better news network then either BBC or CNN.
  10. I will enjoy meeting you also. Just PM me when you are coming up and I will meet you. It is easy to spot me as I will be wearing a red shirt.
  11. Come up to Chiang Mai and I will pay for the drinks. Happy Birthday.
  12. Sadly, you have a point. However, do not forget that Blair thought Bush was a great president. I often wonder if Daddy bush picked Dan Quayle as VP so that no one would see how dumb he was. George Jr. should have done the same, but Afred E. Newman was unavailable, and John McCain already had eyes for Sarah Palin.
  13. We have two Sizzlers in Chiang Mai. One is very good and the other will just do. The fact that they are so different means they are probably not overseen by a general manager or a Franchise inspector. I guess it is the luck of the draw. I would give them another chance. Both Sizzlers in Chiang Mai accept credit cards
  14. I like what I see on the web site. How long does it take for him to paint a portrait? Do you know if you need an appointment? I ask because usually I am only in Pattaya for one or two days.
  15. This implies, at least to me, that you think there is something morally wrong with prostitution. You are correct, we all have our opinions and I do not regard adult prostitution as morally wrong. Yes, it is illegal in Thailand, but actively encouraged by the powers that be in this country and often willingly participated in by the practitioners who make it their trade. I will admit that "I" find go-go bars somewhat exploitative, but that on a emotional and personable level. On a rational level, I realize that many choose this trade as a way out of poverty and there are alternatives in that very few if any have to work in these bars. For this and other reasons I would never JUDGE anyone who liked go-go bars as any less moral then I am. I also consider the activity that goes on in Host bars to be completely normal and healthy. I do not know when the last time you dated, but I have never been able to get anyone younger then me, to go to bed without some kind of quid pro quo. Be it dinner and a movie or a promise of support (Money) and help in their lives. Many of my straight friends have often made the same complaint and not just about dating people younger then they are. Of course I come from Seattle, where being over forty is a death sentence, maybe things are different where you are from. Hypocrite---NO. I have held these views since I was in college, and at least 35 years before I ever slept with a prostitute. I will continue to hold these views and support all and any legislation to make prostitution legal. The only thing I have ever found immoral about prostitution is making it illegal. Because it is not legal, the workers do not pay taxes, they are not regulated, they often get disease and are abused by pimps. In this environment often we find prostitutes start victimizing themselves with drugs. One has only to look at Holland for an example of a moral nations that cares about all of its people--including prostitutes--and runs this worlds oldest profession in a manner that best protects the people who choose this field of work. I love America, but in some ways we are and continue to be less humane then most of our parent nations.
  16. If you give them a fair trail, and they are convicted, then you may borrow my gun and have at them. Anything less makes you hardly better then them. The only thing worse then child molestation is the false accusation of child molestation and vigilante justice before all the facts are in.
  17. No what there is out there is international condemnation of a corrupt government. Two things work against this. No people have been killed, but even when 91 were killed and the press got on it, not that many people were interested. After all, this is only Thailand and most of the world does not give a damn. Secondly, and by far the most important, all you have to do is shout child molestation and the whole world is on your side. Members of this government and some shady NGOs have already picked up on this fact. What a great way to raise funds, blackmail people and sound noble at the same time. Child molestation is a very serious crime. However, the people who use this crime to raise funds for their agencies, their police forces, and for personal gain or political advantage are just as despicable as the child molesters they claim to fight. In the long run these opportunist will cause a backlash that may even make society stop pursuing child molesters. This is by far the worse possible outcome of a crime that should be stopped, with the people who engage in it punished. However, as a codicil, I must add that they are good agencies and police forces that do seem to do a great job. One that I support is the British ran CEOP and there are others that I cannot think of at the moment.
  18. Yes, but "after the fact" they can solicit a nice big bribe-----er, excuse me bail money from the perp, which is why they do not do it at the airport. ??Thailand??
  19. There is a big chain of electronic stores in Thailand that have dozens of them. Can't think of the name at the moment. Try travel shops and hardware stores if all else fails. However, they should be cheaper at an electronic store. Make sure the transformer has enough wattage for you device. However, only heaters (hair dryers), microwaves, etc require a high wattage. This device should be fine with 10 watts. You can also buy a fusible link for the plug between the scanner and the transformer for a dollar or so extra. This way if the transformer fails it will not take out your device.
  20. A movie does not have to be sad to make me cry. I remember crying in "The Color Purple" when Lizze finally got to see her daughter at the end.
  21. Have a friend ship it to you from the USA. Just buy a step down transformer for around $10.00 to convert 220 to 110. They are for sale in most electronic stores and travel stores.
  22. Bob, while Mikes is an old time Chiang Mai institution the best burgers in town are found opposite Mikes on Chaiyaphum Road at a place called "Pinks". Great burgers, chili dogs, frys, etc. I will take you the next time you are in town and you will see what i mean.
  23. I also agree with GB. Just give us a date and a time and let everyone pay their own way. I'm available this Wednesday and Thursday .
  24. Definitely worth a read, and I thank you. I have a limited personal experience, and what I know about how the Thai police is really only hear-say. However, what I have heard is in compliance with what you have written. Presently Thailand--the home of the free--blocks over 50,000 web sites and they brag about it.
  25. I love the title of this topic. In the several years I have been a member of Gay Thailand message boards, I've only seen this title and variations of it around 50 times----AT LEAST. I cannot condemn the sex trade for adults, as it has always been part of every culture throughout history, but I can and do condemn a country that does not protect its children. Say what you want about Thaksin, but he was the first person who tried to clean up the sex industry in this country, and for that he should be given some kind of credit.
