  1. I think he has a point. Besides downtown San Francisco, BART runs to twenty-One different and distinct cities, and all of it rail is above ground, except for the immediate San Francisco area and under the bay.
  2. Without checking I recognize Paris. Also, I( recognize Concord California and San Breuno (both part of BART). I think you should add that some of these stations are in the same city. AFTER EDIT Oh you were posting at the same time. Concord California is not part of San Francisco. It is on the Bay Area Rapid transit System, but it is 50 miles from SF and a separate city. I was thinking you meant San Francisco airport so I am wrong about that one. So you are into industry, as that is the only thing near that stop in Madrid.
  3. If I wasn't married any of the four would do for me. How about "banana hangers" and can I copyright this name?
  4. How in the hell are you suppose to comment on something like this? Yes, it is very sad, but what he is doing is punishing all of us by writing this letter and then killing himself. Sorry, this is not my kind of man. Committing suicide is a form of cowardliness. Long before i would take my own life, I would try everything legal and then work on the illegal. If no one else would feed me or provide me with health care, I would make the penal system do it for me. As long as I live there is hope, and if I go out it will be kicking and screaming, and not crying and blaming the whole world.
  5. Hey, me Tonto. Your poll has one thing wrong with it. No one drives in Thailand. You go down the street avoiding everyone else. Not really driving, but more like the dodge car ride at the fair.
  6. So do I. I think it is great that you are willing to put so much work into this, and have the money go to charity. I think Fountainhall's suggestion of a PR firm is a great idea. As to the charities, here it may get a little tricky. I know of an orphanage that helps children with HIV, but do we want to associate HIV with gays? The same goes for the many programs to help prevent HIV. Truly Michael, I think any well advertised gift to a good, responsible charity would do one hell of a lot towards helping gays in this country, whether or not, the charity is directly involved with gays. However, it will be your effort and your work that will make this possible and if that is your wish, I will help in anyway I can. I will ask around and see what I can come up with. If nothing else feel free to solicit a donation from me when you are ready. You are not the board owner anymore and such a solicitation would be appropriate and welcome--at least from this board member.
  7. Nor would I, but on the other hand, I have been thinking about this topic for a long time as I have noticed that Thais are inconsiderate of others not only when they block passageways, but when they drive. There is definitely an element of rudeness in their disdain for the other, By other, I do not mean farangs but other Thais as well. However, I hate to stereotype and I had no ready answer, until now. This is what I believe is behind the rudeness I see Thais display towards others. According to a recent Thai survey: http://thainews.prd....id=255402060002 I believe this apparent acceptance of corruption is what is behind the rudeness I see Thais display towards each other, both in and out of cars, It generates an every man for himself mode of thinking. Why be honest when it gets you nowhere. Take care of your own, and screw everyone else, as that is what everyone is doing. While I know that Thai Buddhism teaches differently, I believe that the reality of Thai life takes precedent over the teachings that seem so widely ignored. [
  8. Try entering the site through Google. Often works for me.
  9. It would sure work for me. Thank you for posting this. Absolutely delightful.
  10. I agree completely. What time of year does this take place?
  11. Thanks for the name. I had never heard of this underwear. Nice pictures on this site, and the underwear looks great. Now if they only made the swim suits edible.... http://aqux.net/NY/bikini/nybikini.html
  12. Yes, Yes, Yes. Sorry Michael, but I'm booking with Z909
  13. I agree, please forward me a picture of my personal "towel boy" prior to me making a reservation.
  14. I do not know what else is going on here, but I hate it when the music is to loud and I leave if they do not turn it down. There is one club in Chiang Mai where the music was incredibly loud and when I asked them to turn it down they ignored me. I have never returned to that club and will never do so. Mark, I have noticed the same attitude in other clubs during the high season that Michael complains about. Therefore, for what it is worth, I find Michael's opening letter reasonable, your reply out-of-line, and his answer to you logical, well thought out,and extremely magnanimous, considering he was not talking about your bar to begin with. That said, I can not imagine a worse job then running a go-go bar. Having read your post over many years, I think very highly of you. I know the high season is when you make the most money. Money that will help you survive the low season. Nevertheless, I think it is just as important to your well being that you do not over stress during this period of time. Mark I think you would be well advised to take a short vacation. Life is to short, to let job pressures get you down.
  15. One of my friend's wife was one of three people who ran parts of the company and reported directly to Phil Condit, the ex CEO of Boeing. Here is the story as I heard it. It was Phil Condit's idea to farm out the manufacturing of the 787. He figured that the more countries that were involved in the construction the more planes that would be sold. Unfortunitely one of the plants he picked was in Naples, Italy. Enough said about how things work or not in Naples. He also wanteds to weaken the very powerful machinest Union by making them smaller and easier to deal with. Now when the CEO before Phil Condit retired, many thought the new CEO would be Alan Mulally who was in charge of manufacturing, However, the ex-CEO and the board found Alan to be a little to abrasive, and the assembly process less then efficient, so they appointed Condit. One of the first things Condit did was to merge with McDonald Douglas. As a result of the merger a real power struggle came about between the executive of Douglas and Boeing as to who would do what where, etc. One result of this competition was that some executives like Boeing's defense dept chief Sears tried too hard to succeed. Sears illegally received inside information from an Air Force contractor and was fired and jailed. Condit had to resign over this scandal, as there was evidence that he knew of Sear's tactic. Once again Mulally was passed up and ex-Douglas CEO Stonecipher was appointed to run Boeing. He too was forced to resign for an affair with a female executive and the board went outside to 3M to hire their new CEO, who knew nothing about the air industry. At this point Alan Mulally resigned and became CEO of Ford Motor company, which is a very good stock to have at the moment. Not the first, nor will it be the last company that has made some incredibly dumb decisions. I own no Boeing, and it wil be a long time before I buy any.
  16. Great advice and it applies to everywhere in Thailand, and not just Pattaya.
  17. Sometimes corny can be fun. Have you ever heard of "the court" in the USA?
  18. Proper parenting is the most important of the things Fountainhall mentioned. If you really want to help, join your local harm reduction center and donate. Why do I think they have the answer? Because Holland has been doing this for years and it works. No need to invent the wheel, it is already out there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harm_reduction
  19. Nice job, thank you.

    What

I wonder what criteria they used. It seems to be that the city with the most gay venues would not be the gayest city, but the city with the biggest gay ghetto. I like Seattle because gays are everywhere in the city. There are very few clubs where gays would not be welcome, and on the opposite side most gay clubs are now integrated with straights. I know this offends many older gays, but I like it this way. In Seattle you are accepted for who you are, not what you are.
  21. No need to guess Mr Barcelona
  22. No need to guess:lol:
  23. We would not have this state of affairs in America if we had the "fairness Doctrine" back again as law. The airwaves belong to all Americans, and for years we required a station that took a political stand to give equal time to the opposing view. The republicans were able to successfully repeal this law, and one of the things the Democratic Congress and President Obama should have done was reinstate this law. The total lack of real leadership in the Democratic Party (from the President on down) has lead to the Republicans victory in the off elections. Now with the Supreme court allowing unlimited corporate contributions the situation will only get worse, not better.
  24. You are preaching to the choir. What I find the most fascinating is that what looks like it is just design will often be quite functional as well. The dragon does hold the lantern, and the windows let in just the right light, and the curves and scallops funnel the water. In Gaudi Parc the frog is the overflow for the cistern and the whole upper plaza in the collection for water to feed the cistern down below. The man was a one of a kind genius.
  25. Several problems: 1. Money-Barcelona and the Catalins take great pride in the fact that they ask little of Madrid in the way of money. For example, their subway was paid for by local taxes. All the work and money to build the Sagrada Familia comes from private donors, tourist, and volunteers. 2. Gaudi centered his designs on what he saw in nature. The supporting pillars for the roof are a main trunk with many branching trunks. No one knew if his design would work, so they had to wait until they had a good enough computer program to find out. The answer was yes. 3. 14 years were lost during the Spanish Civil War and early Franco rule.
