  1. I kind of feel that everyone is right here. I think it is stupid not to wear a helmet in Thailand and I have rode a motorcycle most of my life. On the other hand I do remember the wind in my hair and all the fun that comes from riding free. I sort of agree with helmet laws and seat belt laws, but somehow the passing of these laws at the insurance companies request (Biggest contributor and campaigners for these laws) still sort of irks me. I think education might have gone a long way to making people obey these laws without making it a crime. Maybe not, but these laws are definitely an infringement of personal freedom. Once again, on the other hand, having a national health care plan means that we all have to pay for the brain dead biker in the hospital so maybe personal freedom should be curtailed. No easy answer, personal freedom or collective responsibility, your call.
  2. Having worked all my life, sometimes at two jobs, I dislike lazy people. Without trying to offend anyone, I often find the boys that I meet in the bars often fall into this category. While I would hate to do their job (My God, who would want to sleep with me?), many of them do not want to move out of this life and be productive, even when they find someone. They want Mr. Right to take care of them so they can laze about with the occasional happy ending for their BF. This type of attitude just does not work for me.
  3. Many thanks Fountainhall for all the pictures and information. I have copied all and I now think I have 3+ days of things to do and see, unless anyone else has anything that Fountainhall might have missed.

    Just some bars

I do not go as I do not like the person who used to solely own and currently runs this place. She/he is just not anyone I would give my business to.
  6. I am going to Singapore in November for three nights and four days. I love good Chinese food, and would like any and all recommendations. I am staying in Chinatown. I would also like to know of any must see places, especially those not know to tourist. Good gay bars with entertainment (My BF is going with me.), or great local non-gay entertainment or clubs. Any information you can provide would be appreciated.
  7. I not only pay it off every month, but have the bank do it for me. They hate me too, but that does not stop them from raising my credit limit every year.
  8. I cimpletely agree. I always check Agoda reviews even when I book eksewhere as everyone who writes a review has actually stayed there.
  9. \ You are correct, my rib eating friend says they are not smoked and there are two sauces & plain. I don't often eat ribs, but have heard that people like them at Dukes. Also heard raves about the pizza and the quantity of any food that you order. He must be doing something right to now have several places when he started with one.
  10. There are two Dukes in Chiang mai. The one by night market is not as good as the one by the river. Dukes makes three types of ribs. Some are smokey, some are not.
  11. Hey we in Chiang mai are happy you like our restaurant. Dukes has long been an established and well thought of Chiang Mai restaurant with two branches for years. Trip advisor has given them a must better rating of 4 our of five. Your new discovery is the latest addition to the Duke's chain. You could have given the Bangkok people their local web site for ordering, but here it is. http://www.dukesbangkok.com/
  12. Nice Michael. I do not have a special boy, I have an only boy. When we met I offered him an open relationship due to our age difference (he is close to 30 and I am 2x+ that). However, he wants monogamy only, So he has been my only boy for the last two years, but I am more then happy with the situation.
  13. I saw the ABC TV interview. It was very astute of you to notice that she is no small lady. I too thought that, and DSK is no he man by far. What really stuck me about the interview was how well rehearsed she was. So well rehearsed that I quickly decided that I would not buy her story if I was on a jury. The emotions were portrayed but I never quite felt she was for real.
  14. Beats me. That is not only the info I got off this site, but I was in Malaysia on o2/10/2011 and the stamp clearly says it is good for 90 days. Let me photo it for
  15. I remember the first time Michael Jackson was busted for child molestation. Right away, after buying off his accuser, he made a song called "They really don't care about us" were he said the system was no good, and how so many were persecuted. Among the lines was this: Tell me what has become of my life I have a wife and two children who love me I am the victim of police brutality, now I'm tired of bein' the victim of hate You're rapin' me off my pride Oh, for God's sake I look to heaven to fulfill its prophecy... Set me free I remember thinking at the time, that this is what a guilty man would do, In many ways that cartoon of Murdochs gives me the same feeling.
  16. If you are a citizen of the USA your entry Visa is for up to 90 days. Citizen of another country?, then try this web page and put in your country. http://malaysia.visahq.com/
  17. Firecat69, I do hope you cancer gets better. How do you find time to write on these boards and run apple at the same time? All joking aside, Apple was the first with the smart phones, but they were also the first with a great operating system for computers. Nevertheless, MS is much bigger and more profitable. Soon what happened to their MAC line will happen to their IPhones. The ability to change and adapt has never been one of Apple's strong points and their requirements to use ITunes and and a inflexible operating system will soon be eclipsed by other smart phones using Android. However, no need to argue about it, just watch and wait.
  18. Be sure to try their precooked Faggots. They get an endless supply of fresh meat from Sunee Plaza. (Yes you English and Welsh, I know what it is.)
  19. From a place in Chiang Mai Central Kad Suan (basement floor) called Maewang and I paid 17,990. Saw the same price at another shop on the third floor also. See the ladyboy salesperson for the best deals.
  20. I bought mine several days ago without a plan for 17,900. I too compared IPhone4 with this phone and it may not have the HiSo name, but the S2 is a far better phone. Yes it is 1/4 inch bigger and I guess that size will matter to some of you.. The screen is bright, and far larger then the IPhone and the camera is superior in every way. The Internet, even on 2g edge, is far faster then my BF's IPhone4, and my battery outlast his by 2 to one. As they say in Thailand, "up to you", but I find this phone the best deal out there. Oh I need to add that it is 5000 BHT cheaper then the IPhone.
  21. I'm not sure I could always have said that about this board, but completely agree now. Great thread Michael. I'm afraid I've been lurking on this thread as it is hard to add anything as your posts have been very good. You would make a great travel writer for Thailand, and a good guru for newcomers to Thailand.
  22. I am originally from the central valley in California and this is the only place I know you can find them. I am sure they are grown elsewhere, I just do not know where. I have bought mine at a local farmers market. The flesh is a very light orange, they are harder without an uniform mesh. Often called a true cantaloupe to distinguish them from muskmelons which most people call cantaloupes, but I've also bought them as Cavaillons as the French don;'t check local markets.
  23. I think you just answered your own question here. If you really want to stop drug abuse you need to start with families. It would be much cheaper in the long run to support families and help them raise healthy children then to imprison their adult children when they turn to drugs to deal with their problems. Baring that, you might want to look into a program of harm reduction successfully practiced by many enlightened countries like The Netherlands that actually is far cheaper and more productive then prisons. Main principals of Harm reduction. Accepts, for better and for worse, that licit and illicit drug use is part of our world and chooses to work to minimize its harmful effects rather than simply ignore or condemn them. Understands drug use as a complex, multi-faceted phenomenon that encompasses a continuum of behaviors from severe abuse to total abstinence, and acknowledges that some ways of using drugs are clearly safer than others. Establishes quality of individual and community life and well-being--not necessarily cessation of all drug use--as the criteria for successful interventions and policies. Calls for the non-judgmental, non-coercive provision of services and resources to people who use drugs and the communities in which they live in order to assist them in reducing attendant harm. Ensures that drug users and those with a history of drug use routinely have a real voice in the creation of programs and policies designed to serve them. Affirms drugs users themselves as the primary agents of reducing the harms of their drug use, and seeks to empower users to share information and support each other in strategies which meet their actual conditions of use. Recognizes that the realities of poverty, class, racism, social isolation, past trauma, sex-based discrimination and other social inequalities affect both people's vulnerability to and capacity for effectively dealing with drug-related harm. Does not attempt to minimize or ignore the real and tragic harm and danger associated with licit and illicit drug use.
  24. Yes it can be elaborated on this board, you just have to be careful. The background can be found here, and you can read about how the owner of this plane reacted in the past when he felt slighted. http://www.zenjournalist.com/ This is from Andrew Marshall's blog and it is a great story.
