Thank you Billy. I agree with Rogie, please get on and stay on that soapbox as I appreciate the information and understand the compassion.

The carpets were in good shape when i was there. I did not check out the computers in the hall as i always bring my own. Yes it is at the low level of four stars, but I find it somewhat nicer then the Pinnacle which is three stars. having said that, dollar for dollar I would suggest the Pinnacle is a better deal.

I still call it Burma too. Thanks for the term (boungbe chut) and the definition. Thailand says it is going to repatriate the Karen and Shan communities in Thailand back to Burma. In light of your fears for the Kachin and the Shan people do you think this is will be a disaster for these people?

It is hypocritical to the Western way of thinking, but you have to understand the religion. Islam is not only a religion, but it is a proscribed way of living. However, it is only your public life that is proscribed. What you do in private is your business, and it has always been that way in the Muslim world. Thus no alcohol or gay sex in public, but booze and kinky sex at home is perfectly okay until it becomes a public issue.

Hello billy and thanks for the update. The rising prices may. have a good side in that many in the military own stock in these places. The lure of the money to be made may keep them from rocking the boat and going back on the new democracy movement. But then, I've always been a dreamer. What ever happened to Josan, the government tout who used to post here? I do hope the boy has not lost his job .

We stayed there, good hotel fair breakfast. However, more then five minutes walk from BTS. More like 15 minutes or about 1/2 mile. However, taxis are cheap, no matter where you go. Staff friendly, place clean.

No shit? That is good news.

My note is super cool, but then what can you say about a country (UK) that has all of its own industries taken over by foreigners, who seem to know better then the natives, what people really want, and what is cool. Especially when they eat things like bangers, beans and tomatoes for breakfast, UCK!. For those obtuse out there this is meant to be humorous.

Burma could easily surpass Thailand as a tourist place for both gays and straights. However, the present government has madehomosexuality an illegal activity. punishable by fine or up to ten years in jail. AYOR until this law changes. However, they also have laws against prostitution of women, but this occurs everywhere in Myanmar.

Actually, I think only one person expressed any dislike for Bkkbois articles. How does that translate into most.

'I agree, since reading these articles and statements I've decided to walk back to the USA next time I go home. I was thinking about taking a ship but then I remember the concordia. Oh well, I figure by the time I get to Siberia someone will have built the bridge to Alaska. Now if I can only get safely by Sarah Palin, I'm home free.

I thought the 5 cents was the second iconic image as it kept that price for over thirty years.

More Fighting in Thailand in the Next Two Months?
KhorTose replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
Really?? I have never met anyone who is a yellow shirt, but I live in Chiang Mai and I am not terribly rich. Most of the people who oppose the red shirts seem very anti democratic and they belittle the red shirts as ignorant farmers, despite the fact that they are clearly the majority in any free election. I almost feel like asking you if they goose step when the walk, but that would be rude. Yes, it does look like one of this governments high priorities is to return Thaksin and allow him to get his money back. However, that is not what they said when they were running. I have to admit I am disappointed in some ways that this is one of their goals. However, what Thaksin was tried for was bunk, and what he should have been tried for was already being done by politicians on both sides, so I am not sure what is fair. However, the fact they were so low key on this issue prior to the election does make the red shirts look pretty bad. I doubt it. In light of the clear red shirt majority and current world affairs I believe that even the yellow shirts realize that Thailand will be severely damaged if this was to occur. However, with the yellow shirts total unwillingness to share power with the not-connected and rural, and leaders like Sondi, anything is possible. Furthermore, if the Yellow shirts were to seize power, my red shirt friends seem prepared this time to make it a civil war. In which case I would hate to be a farang in Thailand -
According to my Aussie friends, Queensland has always has a large and powerful right wing.

I had the Galaxy II, and this is by far a better buy. Still small enough for the pocket, yet big enough to read Kindle books in comfort, as fast on the internet as the Galaxy, able to do everything in voice and has the ability to make notes with a pen. Still setting it up, but very happy and worth the money.

I bought the Note last week for 18800 in Chiang Mai, so Pattaya prices seem the same. Maybe i should have done some more shopping?

Great airport. According to Pattaya One (yes, i know not a great scource of info) Suvarnabhumi radar shut down and it took them 40 minutes to get it restarted. No planes could land or takeoff from either Bangkok's airports causing some planes to divert to Pattaya. http://www.pattayaon...ailure-bangkok/

I do not get nightmares from your avatar, but agree with Z and TW that it is over the top. Just a little glaring. However, I can live with it, and fully recognize your right to choose whatever avatar you wish, even if it is ugly :) .

I've been told that they think gay/lesbian/bi-sexual/transgender/questioning is too long, and kind of stupid when queer--meaning to them sexually different--says it all. More frank, more in you face with less BS and describes all the five mostly legal sexual minorities at once. However, it was years ago that I had this discussion with a bunch of gay youths and Who knows what is fadish and popular now. I too would like to hear from gay youth, but many of them are not in Thailand but home with boys their own age----sighhhhhhhhh.

I could not agree more with the above. Intent is everything, and by the way Bob, you arn't queer your just an old faggot. As for the haters of the word, sorry, but the gay youth of Seattle voting overwhelmingly to be called Queer. It seems they like the word far more then LBGTQ where Q is questioning. From my understanding this is a movement that is strong thoughout America in the Queer community. Yes, we grew up where it was a bad word, but by adopting it, they youth are taking the sting out of it. Read your Foucault. a complete college dissertation: http://www.colorado....r_BRONTSEMA.pdf
