  1. Giants won the Super Bowl
  2. The bulbs only cost 10,000 baht each......the other 90,000 is a generals service charge.
  3. Although not sure, I heard that actualy the King stongly backed this proposal. If true, I believe the ban will be enforced. I have avoided some a/c bars because the smoke was so unpleasant.
  4. I need the baht to hit 34 so I can by by Garmin GPS. So please stay glued to your computer and kindly let me know when this happens. By the way, thank you for posting about the GPS. I also took a look at http://www.thaivisa.com where many posters agree with you. Oh and if Geezer reads this, maybe he will let us know what model he has. He always seems to get the best there is and it is so much simpler to do what he does than spend so much time searching the web.
  5. I can find prices outside of Thailand for different Garmin units. It is better to have a visiting friend bring one in or buy here in Bangkok for about how much. I see the maps are 7000 but do you have an idea of the cost of the Garmin Unit? Thanks
  6. I heard that mio 720 from miotech is also very good. It has a mobile phone, pda, etc. Gaybutton, where did you buy your Garmin C340? Price? Did you look at the nuvie line? Do you know what Geezer has? Thanks
  7. Sorry to hear that ****. Would the owner of Guys be receptive? If you could do there what you did at Topman, it should be great. The stage is better than Topman and so is the seating, air con, etc.
  8. I share the opinion that many shows are not that exciting. However, another poster (soi 10 tom?) posted about the Dynamite show. I and a few friends went there New Years eve. I was really amazed. If you haven't been there or haven't been recently you may want to see the boys and the show. The acts rotate between a sexy boy show and then a cabaret ladyboy show. One of the things that amazed me were the costumes. Since Dynamite is a small intimate bar you are close to the stage no matter where you sit. In my opinion the show was very good. It was very professional. I do know one of the performers. But I am not plugging the show for that reason. I have been told that the current owner bought out the Thai partner and has brought many good looking boys back to the place. I counted abut 30 boys dancing and many were good looking. I only saw that was a real muscle boy but most were not very fem...some were, but not the majority. I was told by some of the boys that on the evening of Jan 1, they will have a party. I did not see any flyers about that but the bar does not seem to advertise very much. I am posting this also on SGF since I have noticed that ther is not much activity here latlely.
  9. You may want to consider Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. They have a Physical Rehabilation department. They have all forms of treatment (accupuncture, hydro, etc>). It might be a better choice than having someone that you are not quite sure of work on your back. Not expensive. True story. I had a sore back and went to have a massage. It felt good but when he was finished my back "went out". I really could not walk. I had to lay on my back as though I was sitting in a chair until my back went back in. I was trying to laugh with the Thais as they were concerned too, but it was very painful. I have had many massages since then with no problem but I have decided not to have one done when my back is hurting. Good luck
  10. I attended the show on Friday evening. It was great to hear the announcement after the show about the new smoke extractors and 6 new aircons being installed soon. Mark seems to understand that this is an area that really needs attention. The bar was full. I think many came to see what was billed as a good change in Topman. Where I was sitting I heard mixed reviews. Some were saying that the new name seems to have indicated that there would be hot men performing the different dance routines. Some said it was a rehas of what they had seen before. Others seemed to understand that new shows take time to produce as Mark has indicated and werevery happy that there would be changes. (Not everyone reads the forums so probably had not read that Mark had already said that). The fire eater was very good. I noticed that he (thankfully) was very aware of the low hanging decorations. It crossed my mind that if he made a bit of a mistake, Sunee Plaza might have been burnt to the ground which I thought would have pleased some posters But it was a good act I think. I personally did not think the heavy set katoey actor added much. I noticed that many of the Thai boys that accompanied some of the farangs cheered when (s)he did a cartwheel. But I preferred the acts that showed off some of the boys bodies and acting (dancing) talent. I am very tired of the boys being just the background for ladyboy actors. I enjoy the boys being the main focal point. One of my pet peeves is when a bar says a show will start at 10:30 and then delays it for 30 minutes as happened on my visit. I would have stayed at Happy Bar the extra 30 minutes and enjoyed what they offered since the gogo dancers Mark currently has....well Mark has covered that already. I thought that they were delaying the show because the one farang that likes to bring 8 - 10 thai boys to drink with him had a reservation and had not showed up, but that might not have been the reason. I don't kow the gentleman but did notice that he makes sure his group has fun but is very courteous of others that are there to see the show. It will be nice to see the planned changes take place and if the show changes enough to keep the expats of Pattaya happy. I say that because my observation is that Boystown area seems to have more tourist visitors so that group is constantly changing. So a show might not need to change that often. Sunee Plaza area seems to me to be an area that has more of the expats in residence. But Mark knows a hell of alot more than I do about those things and I am sure he has considered all of this. I wonder why the Guys bar in Day Night area didn't recruit Mark (or someone with that type of background) to stage that type of show. It seems to me to be a better place to stage a show.
  11. I am happy to see you returned also. I hope the board will continue to be an open forum to discuss different points of views about events and places to visit and will NOT continue to be a place of personal attacks. As moderator, you know better than most what a tightrope and balancing act it takes to be a good moderator. In my opinion anyone can block views that are contary to the moderators view. However I believe you have shown a balance in doing so. Welcome back.
  12. I am sorry you had to experience that. I feel you were doing a very good job and were trying to be very fair. I wish you the very best and do hope you continue your posting. Your posts were helpful and interesting
  13. A Diet Coke for 150 baht?
  14. Here is the link. I thought the replies from "Doris" Lunchtime O'Booze and Thanpuying Sanitree was very funny. http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum...old-t13462.html I am not trying to promote another Board. I think most of us read several. But when I think about getting old I will not be able to forget those 2 posts now
  15. It is great that Baht-Stop is up and running BUT even better is that Gaybutton has made it clear that he again asks for personal feuding to stop. I hope he turns that into rapid action and that GayThailand will help him. Many interesting things about Gay Thailand going on. We don't need the feuds.
  16. Amazed!! It seems to me that GayThailand is defending a poster that has made an very discriminatory comment aimed at other members of this board. The Jewish Mafia comment was a deliberate attempt at back handing other posters and I strongly believe it was wrong to let that post remain unedited. I live in Pattaya and had no idea about a feud until GayThailand posted that he was taking ear wigs side. I enjoyed it when this board started because it was promised that it would be free of these types of posts. In now appears to me that GayThailand has changed these rules and I hope it gets changed back. GayThailand has made it clear that he is wealthy and travels the world in seach of prostitutes. "Who gives a fuck". I don't care that he throws paties for former call boys and spends thousands on flowers. "Who gives a fuck". Now I admit that the this was rude to say. I think no poster should be treated this way. But why is a poster that posts such a discriminatory post being so defended by GayThailand. I am tired of hearing about a feud and having posters go at each other over something most of us (?) do not care about. I think one of the reasons for the annual meet and greet is to allow us to expand our friendship and interests. At the last meet and greet I met several people that I found interesting and hope to keep contact with. I wonder why GayThailand does not sponsor one with the millions he must be making off this web site But seriously can't the moderators or administrator get this back on track and edit or delete posts intended to keep te feud going!
  17. Tonight, December 1, Rainwalker threw a great party for forum members and (anyone else). At one point I counted almost 65 people at the Corner Bar. The food was catered by White Knight and was very good and plentiful. I met several people from Bangkok who came up just for the event they said. Having it on the final weekend of the PGF is a great idea as it makes for a great weekend! I hope he will be willing to continue the event next year too....even though it must be very expensive. I was able to meet several people that were new to me and had a chance to catch up with others I had not seen for many months. I think all of those in attendance had a great time. The corner bar is big enough to mingle and Gary (the owner) was even pressed into service as a waiter. Nice job Rainwalker!
  18. Good luck GT. I imagine you will be able to create the charity or foundation. I read your 3 points and feel that their must be something else that keeps some of those that start from finishing. Here is why I feel that. I have a very good friend that has paid the school fee and a good allowance of 20,000 baht per month. He has also either had the boy live with him or would pay for a boy's apartment. ( I say boy but those he helped were 26 - 32). He tried it with 3 different boys over a 4 year period. His (farang)motivation was so he could eventually talk with the boy. I know he did help one get into business and helped him open a video game shop. He paid all the expenses of the business setup and helped with rent and electric for about another 6 months. None of the 3 learned much English at all. He tried different schools and went to the schools sometimes to ask what was wrong. I know he felt the schools just did not know how to teach. I have a different view, but the point is he went 0 for 3. Possibly a social worker or someone that could help determine an aptitude for learning language would help. Of course I am not an expert in this at all. I just thought it might be helpful if you could find those that have been successful. I think Traveler Jim said he has tried to help several and I am sure others have tried to be of help. I am wondering if they have had a better success rate than my friend. Maybe if you could hook up with a cruise ship operator...I know several that have had experience as waiters that have gone to cruise ships and have seemed to be successful. Their English was very limited to that needed as a waiter at Café Royale. But if there is a good payoff like a specific job guaranteed at the end of a course, may be helpful.
  19. Brian "Boxer" will be missed as will his fantastic web site. I wish there would be away to archive the great history he covered so well.
  20. The original thread was called "Cost of a party in Party Town Pattaya". So what I still don't understand is if white sox and sandals will be required to attend this party or not. Maybe GayThailand should start a poll about this. My vote would be for white sox.............. Outside that, may I suggest that GB and earwig PM each other until they get his problem settled.
  21. I really didn't know it was wrong to wear white sox and sandals. I thought the problem was black sox and brown sandals. I have been around Pattaya for awhile and trythfully have no idea about who GB feels is being insulted. Also if I wanted to wear socks and sandals I would not care what anyone said. The only reason I don't is it is too hard to bend over to put the socks on!
  22. I ate at Po Pot about a week ago. It was packed. I waited a few minutes at the bar before a table became available. Food was good
  23. Larry Craig, Larry Craig, Larry Craig...... Debate away if you like. However I wonder what people would say if the "legal" age was 16? My point is that some that have previously posted their indignation that people are under legal age may have a behavior different than what they post. I know one person that had a wonderful service for those new to Thailand. He posted pictures of boys that he had interviewed and could vouch for as wanting to meet a farang for a long term relationship. He charged in advance for setting this meeting. I am sure he had the boys best interest at heart. He fully explained what the daily fee should be for the boy, what should be expected as far as time off for the boy and other expenses such as meals and drinks. For someone new to Thailand and traveling alone I thought this would be a good idea to see Thailand for the first time. And it was. I have no complaints about the service. How does this lead to my point? Well after being with this boy for a while, I asked when his birthday was. He told me. I asked "How old will you be?" He said 18. "How old are you now?" 17 he said. Truthfully it did not bother me since we never had sex. At the time there wasn't quite the concern in Thailand that there is today. I am sure this is not a very politically correct thing to say. I doubt that people that do off under legal age people (be it male or female) would want to debate the issue on this public forum. To me it is a little bit like Larry Craig from the US congress who vowed many times he was not gay but was arrested for soliciting gay sex in a public bathroom. Very illegal in the US....but when you look at the telephone book in any large US city there are all these ads for "escort services". Let me make it clear. I am NOT supporting breaking the law. What governments decide the legal age is should be followed!!! So, let the debate begin. However, I think only one view will be presented. I think it is a nonsense topic
  24. I know that Eric is no longer managing the properties. Does anyone know if they will have new management? When I walked by tonight I noticed that the restaurant was closed but the Clubber bar was open.
  25. The lady at immigration explained to me that they ask those who have a pension letter for a copy of the ATM card to show that you can bring the mney into Thailand. If you have a 800,000 baht on deposit in a Thai bank they don't ask for the ATM card.
