  1. Your computer may find a wireless network but if the network is "secure" you will not be able to access it anyway without a username and a password. Remember connecting to a network is costing someone something. 15,000 will pay for a router/modem but what will it connect to? Service connection is not free. If someone in your building that is close to you has service on a wirless device, you will be able to share it if it is not secure. Most people secure their wireless service for their own use.
  2. where do people park their cars when visiting Boyz Town?...... Many park at the temple. It has a big parking lot. I think it costs 10 or 20 baht
  3. "Cherry's Restaurant on 3rd. Road is in a bad location but very popular" ....payless How is Cherry's at a bad location? It has ample street parking on Third Rd Also Cherry's price structure is not nearly as high as the other restaurants mentioned.
  4. My guess is Hugh will be back......who could live in Scotland after so many years in Pattaya? Good luck though
  5. This is my first Songkron in Pattaya. After reading many posts here I thought it was going to be terrible. But so far I have only been "shot" by a small child with his water pistol. I have gone every where I usually go and have not had anyone soak me yet or anything else. Maybe tomorrow when the "fun" is to start in earnest it will be different. But so far nothing!
  6. Rainwalker downed by water throwing group. Fortunately not hurt but his bike is a bit bruised. Be extra careful on bikes. SoiTom 10 takes revenge. A farang throwing water at Soi Tom 10 was suprised when SoiTom10 ran over his foot with his bike. And the war continues to rage
  7. Sunday 2:55 pm Water throwing has begun on Soi Boikow from the area around Cartier bar. Driving home from Villa market we got hit. Some farangs are wearing bathing suits and googles. Saw no powder throwing yet. Where is GB?
  8. Sunday 11:32 Went to Continental (behind Xzyte) for breakfast with Rainwalker. No sighting of water sports yet from Jomtien to Central Pattaya RD. Have put cellphone and wallet in plastic bags just in case. Very HOT again today. Over 100 F is expected.
  9. For those that want to help KQuill I suggest we heed Gaybutton's advice. I believe it is very sound advice!!
  10. I was just finishing a fairly long post re KQuill. When I tried to submit it, I received a "Web site not found" message. I tried for several minutes afterwards and can not connect. I wish there would be an advance notice when web sites go down for maintenance...if that is the reason.
  11. I posted on the SGT forum that a very close friend of KQuill told me this morning that KQuill lost his appeal and will be serving 6 years in the Thai prison system. I had hoped he was mistaken but he assurred me, adding that an appeal based on medical condittions was to be filed. I was hoping those concerned about KQuill could do something to help him although I have no idea what we could do. My deepest appologizes if this is inaccurate..which I hope it is. However his friend assured me this is the case.
  12. I agree with GayThailand on this. 1am is better
  13. I appreciate the information given by LP, but I feel that drink prices for Thailand at 250 up is too high. It is not a matter of being able to afford it or not. I just choose not to pay that. I feel I get little benefit compared to Pattaya. Tonight at Come In bar in Sunee Plaza there were several well built guys. I and a few farangs went there after dinner. My iced coffee was 70 baht. One of the hosts sat and talked about 40 minutes. Great English and fun. When the host needed to; he got up and did his waiter duties. Gave the normal tip of 100 to the host and 20 baht for the bar. 2 drinks and a nice fun chat with a sweet guy was under 300 baht for over an hours worth on entertainment. By the way, the electric in Sunee Plaza went out about 9pm. The host bars lighted candles and placed them around......very romantic
  14. Aother way to look at it: Those Americans on pension making $6000 a month, is like living on 3900 a month. Hard to explain to the Thai boy friend
  15. I also was in Sunee last night. I visited 2 bars and was happy that there was no smoking in either. One bar had no smoking signs posted at each seating area. I left at 10pm also
  16. I am willing to see if the welcoming service that Tom and his staff use to provide is still there. I will probably try it next month. I believe that the owners were sincere because in my opinion Tom would not have gone to work for them if he did not believe it too. I hope Tom has a chance to manage or own another restraunt here in Pattaya. Very talented person. That is my view
  17. I appreciate the owner replying Hi ..... Thanks for your email. Unfortunately, like so many other people you have heard wrong & malicious information. To answer your question of more affordable meals the evening service will remain the same possibly with the cutting out of the service charge and leaving tipping to customer discretion. We want to introduce a cheaper set menu in the early part of the evening, we're thinking from 5pm to 7pm and a bit later we'd like to introduce a Sunday lunch or brunch which will be cheaper than the current evening meals. Regarding our general manager who has now left, Tom was instrumental, along with Dave and myself, the owners, in setting up Manhattans. We knew Tom was gay when we hired him. Neither of us are homophobic. I liked Tom, and still do. We worked very closely together in making Manhattans what it is and could not have done it without his high level of professionalism. We both hold him in very high regard. It would be unethical of me to detail the reason for Tom's leaving in an email. But I can clarify with all honesty it was not for the reason that Tom was gay, or that he built up a gay clientele, or that we were too gay friendly, or that we had too many gay waiters. In fact it was nothing to do with anything gay at all. I am very sorry that a lot of people feel that way. We don't run our restaurant with peoples sexuality being an issue. All who come to Manhattans are welcome. I hope this clarifies things.
  18. What area were you in? I saw a no smoking sign on the bar that use to be the ladyboy bar when I was leaving Sunee last night
  19. This use to work for me. Jog. Get up at sunrise and Jog. Then go for breakfast with coffee. Go for a walk or better yet a swim. Go read the paper somewhere but don't lay down. Take another short swim, walk or jog. Around 2 or 3 pm, take a nap. Set your alarm and get up about 6pm, another short jog or swim, shower and go out somewhere loud for dinner with friends. It will now be 8:30 or 9pm. Go to a go go bar that plays fun music and talk to some boys. Home by 10:30 or so with one or two boys. Bed by midnight. Boys do not stay over night. Next day there will be no jet lag. You will feel refreshed and ready to go. I am serious about the post. It may not be scientific but worked for me in the past.
  20. A bucket of water poured over their head. If they object just say: "Sorry, thought it was Songkran"
  21. Here is the email sent: Rumors abound. Is it true the former manager has been replaced? The direction the owners want to take the place is more affordable meals? They felt the place was too gay friendly and some of the owners friends were not comfortable with male waiters and rich gay customers? I believe those of us that have supported Manhattans from the beginning deserve to know if these rumors are true. Please email me or call me. Thank you. I supplied my phone number and email address in response to an email about Valentine Dinner. "For reservations call 038 259790 or email sman@manhattans-pattaya.com Regards, David Bowers" The email said it was from Steve Manning but signed by David Bowers
  22. I think Wowpow has it right. Feb. 11 is for bars, pubs, discos, i.e. entertainment places. Feb. 17 is the date for outdoor markets and restraunts. ???????
  23. Bravo Ditto!!!
  24. Thanks for the post Gaybutton. It gave me a chance to find the American Abroad web site and get an absentee ballot
  25. Voters (mostly US contractors) in Iran and Iraq under the protection of US troops voted almost unanimously for John McCain who has vowed to keep the war going until the US spends its last dime and the US economy collapses.
