Sometimes, things happen beyond the control of the owner. Thankfully, there are many other options in the area if it happens. There is a very popular bar in the same area that had a big problem opening during this same time period because no staff showed up after celebrating a birthday the night before. Fortunately, it was a beer bar so only needed to get in 1 waiter/bartender. If it would have been a gogo bar it would have been so much more difficult. So, Eros gave us an explanation, apologized, and that should end the saga. IMHO

Two questions: How does it stack up to Corner Bar in Pattaya? When will they start delivery to Pattaya? I love a good burger. The best one I ever ate was in a small place where they still deliver to your car on Roller Skates. It is close to Akron, Ohio called Swenson's (not the chain). They have one called a Galley Burger which is a double patty, cheese and chili sauce. Also just a regular hamburger with Ketchup, Mustard, and Onion. I really don't know the secret of a good burger...........but some places have found the secret! Oh, MichaelGT, remember you are in training, ''''

Ok, I understand that most on this Board are much smarter than I am when it comes to international finances. So please keep your answer simple if you can. S&P downgrades the USA credit rating. Interest rates are suppose to go up. So doesn't Wall Street banks win again? Who gets the extra money in interest?

Besides using Trip Adviser to see hotel reviews, I use it to see activities different posters suggest. The first time I went to Cambodia, there were several activities listed that I did while there. Very good advice had been given.

Clearly it's a commercial decision and if it helps keep the site running, then who are we to suggest it's not appropriate?= Fountainhall Just to be clear I was not saying it was not appropriate ME TOO! But I have seen some nice Russians

Yes I agree, it is a great phone and the same price as in the USA on Amazon....usually Thailand has been higher. I paid 18,900 for mine and that was the price I saw at a few different places, Tuk Com, Big C (formerly Carefor) and at Central Mall on Beach Road Pattaya. So 17,900 is a better deal, from where please?

Although I enjoy seeing so many bare chested men, doesn't flirt for free have any Thai guys?

Isn't it OUTRAGEOUS that the same blind respect for the Prince does not extend to Germany as it is in Thailand? I can not believe they would dare to treat a member of the RF as a commoner!!

The Samsung G SII is really nice. You will like it. Yes, wifi would be faster. By the way, BF and I did a bit of a speed test. We each downloaded the same video over our home wifi. I used the new Samsung and he used the HTC Desire HD. The Samsung download at HD resolution faster than his by far! I am not really tech savvy so do not really know why. Just that it is faster. And a MUCH better screen picture.

@bkkguy. Thanks for the information. @Michael. My BF has a HTC Legend and I had a HTC Desire HD. His battery died (1 year) and so I decided to buy a Samsung Galaxy s II. I was trying to decide if I wanted a new sim card since I have DTAC and the service is not so good. Since it is a hassle to change or move a mobile number I was trying to figure out if I would go with True or AIS (1 2 call). Since the Samsung Galaxy S II does a great job with videos (the screen and colors are fantastic), I was wondering which service would have 3G first.

There are many people on this Board that seem to have answers...........so who really knows when 3G will be in most of Pattaya and on what service?

'Multicolours' launch graft campaign on Yingluck

I think the fact that former PM Thaskin did so much talking today about the election results did not help his sister. To prevent problems, it might be wise for the former PM Thaskin to be quiet and let his sister do the speaking. She may follow his advice as it is true she has very little experience, but by former PM Thaskin talking too much, problems may occur. -
This is the first election my BF has decided to vote. It took him awhile to find where to vote. But he found it and says he will vote #1

GB, Are you saying it is ok for people to talk about it publicly with each other, but not write about it publicly? I do not know about Thailand but there is indeed a rule about "Public Figures". In fact a USA Supreme Court decision. Public figure is a legal term applied in the context of defamation actions (libel and slander) as well as invasion of privacy. A public figure (such as a politician, celebrity, or business leader) cannot base a lawsuit on incorrect harmful statements unless there is proof that the writer or publisher acted with actual malice (knowledge of falsity or reckless disregard for the truth[1] ). The burden of proof in defamation actions is higher in the case of a public figure.

When someone owns a bar and publicizes it, in my view, he becomes a public figure. Whether it is right or wrong has been debated and even taken to the courts in some countries. When an owner of a bar (yes, I know this is a technicality in ownership because of Thai law) suddenly leaves and major things happen to that bar, people will wonder, ask questions, and even start rumors. Even though my example is extreme, look at the OJ trial in the USA. The argument could be made that this was gossip. Because OJ Simpson was a 'public figure", there was a lot of interest in the story and gossip. In the case of this thread, I can understand the interest. People wanted to know what happened when a bar is very public in posting events and getting people to take an interest, and even including his name in the name of the bar. I have no idea what the truth is with this bar, but when someone becomes in a sense a "public figure", people will talk. It might have helped if the owner would have posted something himself to give some explanation.

I have stayed at the Blue Lime. It is right around the corner from the Blue Chili. Having stayed there, I believe unless they have changed the policy or I misunderstood the policy, they do NOT want guest's to bring back someone to the room. It is a nice place with a very nice pool and well managed. They were able to give me good advice on gay bars and massage places. No problem with that. It was a tuk tuk driver that actually told me they did not allow guest's to bring people back. Thinking of that now, I should have asked the reception.

This point is valid, but please consider that if new posters searching for information on Gay Thailand become posters, instead of going to other sites for information, they may someday also become prolific posters. Right now I believe what I consider the 3 main boards (GT,GBT and ST) are becoming irrelevant as updating informational boards. The new Nicky newsletter does a better job of letting people know what is going on. GT does a good job of providing trip information, although some is out dated. I feel

It seems if the site is "Gay Thailand", posts that are about Gay Thailand should be separate from other posts that have nothing to do with Gay or Thailand. When people other than the very few posters that post on this board see topics such as IMF Chairman, Zimbabwe and Gold, Bin Ladens accuse US,...it seems like these should be in another forum. They may be very interesting topics and long time members may enjoy the discussion, but if they know that they can be found in another forum (Beer Bar, Non Gay topics, ???) it is very easy to click on that other forum. It is just a "click", does ot take much effort. But a person searching for information about Gay Thailand has little use for that stuff. Opinion

One of the reasons I like Krispy Kreme is that it also brings back great memories from the 50's and 60's where I grew up. Then it was locally owned and a had great donuts. The donuts have changed since then. I read that they even may change the recipe a bit for local cultures, but still the name its self brings back fond memories. So to bring it back on track I am happy Michael is back with his BF and hope to visit them one day for a Krispy Kreme.
-
Ok Michael, very happy for you Blah, Blah, Blah..... But the important thing to me is, when can I expect the Krispy Kreame donuts!!!

kjun12..... I think you are becoming like FOX news (USA). Only quoting part of a statement so it gives a different meaning......Most Thais are pretty good at following or giving directions I think. I have not seen that as a problem...compared to my friend in USA!

It is difficult for me to understand why most people living in Thailand that I see, love to back in to a parking spot instead of pulling in forward. But that is the way they do it. Most Thais are pretty good at following or giving directions I think. I have not seen that as a problem...compared to my friend in USA!

Ganymede Bar to Host TAKE CARE!! Charity Night Apr 9th
PattayaMale replied to a topic in Gay Thailand
And does it also include a free drink and buffet and a chance to help a very good charity? You seem bitter about doing good for the community. If you can not afford the 150 baht, see me at Ganymede and I will throw the 150 baht in for you so you'll have nothing to really complain about. OK? -
I do not know much about investing. So when I arrived in Thailand I read many articles in the Pattaya Mail weekly written by a person that seemed to know what to do. I went this person here in Pattaya. He advised a life insurance policy from Isle of Man. I agreed to do this as he seemed to have a good track record. WRONG! What I thought he told me and then what happened were very different. I signed an agreement where my invested currency was in US dollars. My instructions were that I wanted very low risk. I was clear that I did not want the principle to be put at risk. He assured me that would be the case. I likened it to a savings account but hoped to make a bit more interest. He again assured me this is the kind of account my money would be in. After not receiving any statements of my account I called him and he said he would make sure the company sent them. This went on and on. Finally I had enough. But by that time, after the company had taken thousands in fees, I found out my account was down 35%. The company is still in "business" in Pattaya, with home office in Bangkok. I now am looking for a lawyer that handles this type of litigation. Since this maybe a international problem I am not sure where to turn. (Any advice of firms??) I would strongly advise expats to avoid investing with a company doing investments with a company in Thailand that invests outside of Thailand UNLESS you really understand those type of investments. USA will be the least of your problems!!
