Hope everyone enjoys the Valentine Day. A friend reminded me this morning that part of Sunee will be blocked off for a Valentine's Day Party. Also I hope this with BF remembered to go to the ATM before the machines run out of money. Gold has gone up 3% today. It is almost $1000 US for one ounce. A rose (large size) is 100 baht.

This came from Gay360. The most interesting thing is that Je Dao wants to go to America and work as a prostitute. What is the chance of getting a USA Visa???? "Former ladyboy monk (abbot) Je Dao of Sri Boon Reung temple in the northern province of Lamphun, has quickly and quietly disrobed. In ladyboy circles, Je Dao had become well-known for changing into a skirt and bra and sneaking out at night to discotheques. On top of that debauchery, Je Dao was known to sleep around with commoner gays. Je Dao had very recently come under the suspicions of locals who, alongside a female student, informed the cops of the truly immoral behaviour of a monk who takes medicine to grow breasts, goes out at night and enjoys having gay sex. Je Dao had found out that he was under investigation and so quickly disrobed and fled the temple on the morning of the 7th February. According to some other locals though, Je Dao has their full support and they feel proud of their former breasted ladyboy monk who didn’t quite live up to the expectations of an orange robed-one. According to Je Dao (newly-named Titsaman) in a confidential interview said “I am going to go and work in America within a couple of months”. (as in ‘work’ Je Dao used the Thai words ‘hah kin’ which can also be translated as ‘work as a prostitute’)"

So what way do you prefer to have your food touched?

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said Friday that if necessary teargases may be used to prevent protesters from storming into the Government House complex. But the use of teargases would be the last measure the government would resort to if protesters attempt to storm in and seize the complex, Abhisit said. The protesters led by the Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship plan to rally at the Government House Saturday to demand the government to give in to their four-point demand, including replacing the current charter with the 1997 one and dissolving the House.

(Washington) Legislation was re-introduced in Congress Thursday that would allow Americans in a same-sex relationship to sponsor their “permanent partners” for legal residency in the United States, a right currently afforded only to opposite-sex couples under immigration law. The Uniting American Families Act was filed in the House by Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY). Nadler has been fighting for the bill for nearly eight years. With Democrats now in Control of the Congress and the White House Nader said Thursday he is hopeful the measure will become law. “In 2009, we should be ready as a society to acknowledge that stable American families come in all varieties,” said Nadler

From what I see, the food has already been prepared. It may be shipped from a central kitchen. The people that are around the food at the restaurant is putting the food on a plate and then on the conveyor belt. When you look at the conveyor, you will see different colored stickers. This tells the "cooks" where to put what. The "cooks" also wear gloves and cough masks so the food is not contaminated from touch or cough. I really do enjoy this place.

GB, thanks for letting us know. That is a great deal, but next time please go a day earlier so we know about the promotions ahead of time.

Here is a variation of that question: If the boy has his own fake ID and the police who take bribes for allowing the bar to employ him, are they liable?
-
I thought it might be interesting to get a Thai's view of the question. So I asked my Thai friend. His answer: "my birthday, Christmas, Valentines Day....any that I get a present"...... I think that may be the REAL Thai culture

I think the best place is on Theappisit (SP) Road. Going from Suhkumvit Road towards Jomtien you will see all in one complex on the right hand side, a gas station, car wash, and used car dealer. This is about 1 K from Sukumvit. It will cost about 3000 baht.

The above posts from several forum members are sentiments I also agree with. I made this post, as I wrote, because there were many posts under "your favorite go-go bar" that asked about the id or fake id and there were many suggestions as to how to handle that. In thinking about that. I thought it would be a good chance to ask that question, if it is a serious concern, to the proper authorities. I think most people make a serious effort to make sure the person they off is of the legal age. I too know of no instance that even a 17 year old offed person form a bar ended in charges. Unfortunately there are some bars that seem not to care if they are offering very young people to the public.

In the post about Favorite Go-Go, many concerns and suggestions were put forth about making sure the person was of the legal age as indicated on the ID card. For those that may be a member of one of the expats club, I wish someone who have a rep from the Immigration, police and prosecutors offices appear to ask how people are protected from this kind of scam. If a person uses his best judgment, examines the card, has the hotel clerk examine the id, how can he(customer) be held as trying to break the law? Forget the argument that prostitution is illegal. Have the authorities answer the questions. What do others think?

Two friends and I went out to eat in Jomtien Complex. We were going to eat at Aquarius but it was closed for the holiday so we walked around looking for a place that was open. We settled on eating at Le Bistro de ZaZa which is close to Hot Stone Grill. ZaZa has some very good roasted chicken and come with a choice of 2 soups and a small salad bar included as well as dessert. All for.........I can't remember...maybe 195 or 295. In any case the chicken was great. After dinner we went out for a drink. Most places were closed except for Dick's Cafe. They were serving alcoholic drinks and were packed!

Some will probably be open. Oud told me his bar will be closed. Gary of Corner Bar said his bar would be closed....but it is possible that he changed his mind. Best bet will be to walk around and see what is open and what is not, I imagine.

Finance Minister expects Thailand recession this quarter
PattayaMale replied to PattayaMale's topic in Gay Thailand
I think you are correct on revisionist history. Many would say the new deal was not the stimulus. It was WWII that actually turned things around. I hope it doesn't take WWIII to get through this one. -
Eric from UP2U bar said he will be open. I think this is because he serves dinner. He said his hosts would be there. This was about 11 pm Sunday night....But it might change if the police deliver a notice.

Does the Avon product have DEET in it? -
The following was in today's Bangkok Post. I really am beginning to wonder if any stimulus in any country will work. But how bad will it really become. Nothing has seemed to have worked yet. "Thailand will experience negative economic growth during the first quarter this year, Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij revealed yesterday. This was due to the poor performance of the economy in the last quarter of 2008, Mr Korn said at the Post Today Investment Expo 2009 yesterday. However, he expected the situation to pick up by the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter this year. The economic recovery would be a result of easing political tension coupled with the effect of the government's economic stimulus package worth over 116 billion baht. The package is pending parliament's approval on Wednesday, Mr Korn said. In April, when money injected into the economy reached consumers, overall purchasing power was expected to sharply increase and tourism and industry would improve a few months later, he said. Mr Korn added the Finance Ministry would seek approval from the economic ministerial committee next week on plans to offer a loan guarantee measure to commercial banks, to encourage institutions to provide loans in the private sector. Mr Korn said his government was also focused on mobilising resources from both the public and private sector to stimulate the country's sluggish economy. The government was giving priority to tackling unemployment as the Labour Ministry had estimated that up to one million workers could lose their jobs this year."

I imagine that this coming Monday Feb 9 most bars and entertainment venues will be closed for Makha Bucha Day. Does anyone know if any venues will be open?

Yes, when I visited in 1939, Bangkok was not cluttered. But the air conditioning and satellite TV was not very good. One good thing though was you did not have to buy your boyfriend a mobile phone!

According to Pattaya Daily News, workers from La Royale have not been paid for 6 months and so they stopped working and blocked streets in protest. This project is charging 76 baht per square meter. I bring this up asking if this is a beginning(or continuation) of what might be in store for other of these big projects in Pattaya and Jomtien. Or is this just an example of a very rich Chinese investor (owner) taking advantage of of the poor Thai workers?

Stopping by Gentlemen Beer Bar tonight I had a very good talk with the owner. He has owned the bar for 17 years. Most will remember it as a go-go bar. A while a go he closed the go-go bar and went home to take care of his ill mother. When he returned, he opened it as a beer bar. Anyway, tonight was his last night. He said that business is just too slow to continue. It is too bad I feel as it must be one of the best decorated beer bar in Pattaya.

i am surprised that no one mentioned Wild West Bar. A farang friend and I went there a bit early. They told us drinks are 99 baht until the show. After we were there awhile the mamasam sat down and wanted us to know that they had a "special". The rooms they have are 200 baht for 2 hours (usually 1 hour). They boys were all shapes and the music was not loud. We enjoyed it.

Chiang Mai Governor Petitioned to Ban Gay Pride Parade
PattayaMale replied to Gaybutton's topic in Gay Thailand
This was very well written. I would be curious what groups are asking for the ban. In a time of needed tourist dollars, I can't believe it would be groups that make their livelihood from tourists. -
You are right that at least 3 of the last 3 business did not do well at all. I can't remember the first business's name. The second was O'brien's which was closed more often than it was open. And the Take Me (1) which lasted just 3 months. I have always been puzzled why new entertainment places don't take advantage of the free advertising that is targeting their customer base. The message boards and the weekly reports are wonderful ways to get out the news. I do not like it when they over hype their own business. But it is nice when they present any special event...like opening.
