  1. Pedophiles, Police and Pattaya......... I have always wondered why there is so much press about male, male under legal age sex and hardly ever mentioning the male, female under legal age sex. I have always wondered why we seldom hear about any kind of under legal age sex, happening in Bangkok and other Thai cities. I have always wondered why 16 - 20 police show up with the press to issue a warrant of under legal age sex (male) in Pattaya. I have always wondered why some posters get so riled up when they hear about under legal age sex (male) in Pattaya. I always consider, "me thinks thou does protest too much". I have always wondered why some seem to act as in shock that this would ever happen when they sit in bars seeking out sex with "young looking boys" and surely must realize that someone does not have to be of legal sex age to want easy money. I have always wondered if some posters would still be upset if the legal age of sex was 15 or 25. I have always wondered why the drinking age in the USA is 21 and the age we train people to kill is 18 and no one seems upset when Thai adults in villages will allow 16 year olds to sit around and drink with them. I have always wondered why some posters think it most vile for a gay adolescent with hormones raging to want to have sex with an adult. Adult meaning 18 and over. I have wondered if some posters would support a law forbidding sex between people whose age is more than 10 years apart. I wonder if someone wonders about these things will others wonder if he engages in under age sex even if he doesn't.
  2. This month I am getting a Dobutamine Stress Echo-cardiogram at Bumrungrad Hospital. The cost will be 6000 baht which seems to be the same as the Bangkok Hospital promotion price if I understand Jim's post correctly. Jim can probably answer this (others as well)...When I did a search to find out how much the test would cost in America, I could not find any hospital that had a "How much will it cost?" link. Nor could I find a site that had an approximate cost estimate. The closest I came were links that talked about cost effectiveness and mentioned $2000 for my test but the article was from 2005. You would think the costs would be easy to find in the US, wouldn't you?
  3. Do we need a release form from the guy in question? (If used for commercial purposes). If the guy is Cambodian but lives in Thailand will that still count? I don't want to lose on a technicality....you know how Gaybutton can be!! lol
  4. Jim, You are a good researcher! For Americans living in Thailand the link is a good one also. But there are other types of pensions beyond Social Security. State employees are an example who receive a pension that is not governed by SS rules. If I understand the ruling, under this judges ruling "Congress undertook this classification for the one purpose that lies entirely outside of legislative bounds, to disadvantage a group of which it disapproves. And such a classification the Constitution clearly will not permit," Tauro wrote." it seems the word States could be substituted for Congress. And as we know (?) no State can make a law that ..... So maybe there is a ray of hope for our gay "husbands" or "wives".
  5. The Washington Post ruled that it is unconstitutional to discriminate against gays...in a sense. "Congress undertook this classification for the one purpose that lies entirely outside of legislative bounds, to disadvantage a group of which it disapproves. And such a classification the Constitution clearly will not permit," Tauro wrote." If this is holds against appeals, then things like pension survivorship, civil unions, and all that goes with it would need to be treated just like the guys that marry Thai women, I would assume. Since gays would not be excluded from Federal Law and all the benefits offered according to the article. Would this mean my Thai Boyfriend, who has a US Passport good for 10 years and multiple entry, be able to get benefits?? I am not sure how marriage to a Thai women works as far as immigrating to the US, but it seems the same procedure would be followed . Federal Gay ban
  6. GB makes a good point. Also, if it applied to the host bars, in the long long past, I remember the host bringing a drink and getting down on his knees to serve it. So then I think it was still a custom to try to lower his head below mine. But I believe these days are far gone. Maybe this still holds true in some of the villages, I don't know.
  7. And I agree with luvThai, as well. Why are the city fathers trying to convert Thai beaches to a version of the over-regulated ones found in the West. Like LuvThai, I like the vendors. They make for fun diversions while lounging on the beach chairs. And the new (well, not so new, but only a few years old) regulation that the chairs have to be in a line. Sure makes it tough to talk to each other if you go to the beach with a few friends. I remember when you could arrange the beach chairs any way you wanted. What's the point of having to line them up? And, speaking of chairs, is there a reason all the places use the same uncomfortable chaises? Is that another regulation that doesn't make sense? I thought this was a good post and hope RichLB does not mind that I started a separate post. If he does I will delete it. (By the way is Rich an adjective)
  8. A few of us were talking the other day that for some reason, the go-go bars just don't seem to be as fun as in the past. We all had a story about "remember when"... This had been on my mind and last night I decided to do something a bit different, not unlike what I use to do when visiting gogo bars in the past. This is what I had noticed. Many bars (gogo) have a raised platform for the boys to stand (dance, model) on. The customers are seated around this "stage" on different levels back away from the stage. If or when you see a guy you might like to take off, you call him over and as soon as he sits down next to you a waiter asks the guy what he wants to drink. Some times, even if you first have asked the mamasan if the guy speaks a little English or other details, after a couple of minutes you find that "you made a mistake" but may feel obligated to give a 50 or 100 baht tip. Total price you paid is about 200-300 baht and have talked to only 1 guy But I really just want to say Hi and have the briefest of conversations. Like "where are you from" In the past this seemed to be very easy to do. Many bars were a small shop house and the guys were close enough, you would just yell out to them and then maybe give a 20 baht tip which they seemed to appreciate. This short, brief conversation could lead later to more banter and fun where you would ask the guy over for that drink or off. It was sort of an ice breaker and everyone seemed to have fun doing it. Last night while at a gogo bar I noticed that almost all the customers were doing one of 2 things. If they came in with another farang friend they were really ignoring what was on stage or they were sitting very stoic, stoned faced nursing a drink, more like they were watching a movie than interacting with the "live" actors. I believe all of this is because there is a rule or formula that has been put in place by farang owners to maximize profits. In the early days, it seemed that it was more "loose", not as mechanical as now. So what I did was sit close to where the guys get close to the audience on a raised single person box. They rotate to these single person stages and I just started talking to the guy who usually just stands there staring into a mirror and simply gave a him a 20 baht tip. No 150 baht drink plus another 50 or 100 baht tip. I probably talked to 20 boys, so it cost me 400 baht to joke around with some guys. They were laughing I was laughing and many guys that are now getting nothing since the crowds are so sparse got something. Some bars still have the "fun" feel. Happy Boys is one. The boys are really standing in the audience and easy to talk to. When I am there though, I don't understand why more customers don't tip a bit. I see guys all the time talking and touching and I guess they feel that the 100 baht the owner gets for a diet coke is enough. Some host bars are easier to talk with the guys. But the staff is sometimes small in numbers and have been there for several years. Most are looking for the "off" of course and realize after you have visited a couple times that you probably are not "offing" them so they just sit in front of the bar smoking and talking to each other. There are exceptions like Festival Bar, and ? Mark, in Jomtien. I would be really interested to learn what others think.
  9. Last night I attended Funny Boys July 4 themed party. On this day the owners had provided new sexy swimsuits for their boys. Some had stars and stripes design so I guess this was the American Independence part. The guys really looked good. It was a wonderful change from the white shorts they usually wear. The waiters were also in sexy swimsuits. But Rose the mamasan was dressed as usual with his shirt and long pants. One customer challenged Rose to change into a swimsuit. I saw him offer Rose a tip if he did it and he did. WOW! Never seeing rose in anything else other then his usual shirt and long pants, I did not expect to see the beautiful body he has! I think he is now 40 or 41 and he has this amazing model type body. Not only is he a good manager, he is a good sport!
  10. I STRONGlY agree with Geezer. Dr Chad is an excellent cardiologist. Bumrungrad tel 026671000 In 2007 I went to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. They did an angioplasty. A short time later I had problems. Went to Dr Chad. The angiography showed that the stints inserted were too small!! Dr Chad had to redo the procedure. I did not have Dr. Manoon from Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. I understand he is good.
  11. Bitchy Queens...........oops that's me
  12. I hope that part of the update includes an automatic login. When I get a message in my inbox that someone has replied to a post, I click the link and am taken to the topic BUT if I don't remember to go back to the top page and "logon" I am stopped from posting until I do. Frustrating me. When I go to Ting Tong or Swatedee I have aske that my login is remembered and becomes automatic. The other thing I hope will change is the delay between the top part of the screen (Flirt for free) taking so long to load (even giving you a message that if you don't want to wait,...click here. maybe I am doing something wrong on the options or something, but when I read a topic then want to "jump to GayThailand Forum to read the next thread, again I have to wait for the top page to load. It is a bit of a time waster I feel. Just wanting to give my thoughts
  13. Tonight I took 2 friends that swore they would not return to Chez Vickie, there as posted earlier. They both absolutely raved about the food and service. They could not believe it was the same place. They were shocked how good the food was and wondered how it could be done for 290 baht each (daily special). There table wine was good to they said. My meal consisted of the Fish soup (since another poster said it was terrible, I wanted to see if it had improved), tuna salad, and chicken stew French style which also came with flat noodles and a really great bit of stuffed zucchini for 290. My Thai friend had spring rolls, and his main was fish served with uniquely fried potatoes and a spinach souffl
  14. Let's not get people confused...many at BBB are near retirement age. Not that there is anything wrong with 50 year old gogo boys If me I'd start at Funny Boys
  15. I guess you are inserting a political opinion. As for me I feel quite fortunate to have been been born in the United States. I may not like all the government policies all the time which is natural, but living and working in the United States has provided me a very good life. Each year millions try to immigrate to the USA for a better way of life, so many must feel it is not a joke.
  16. True that it is not exactly a Thai holiday, but since some venues in Thailand, where you are, have special events, I was hopeful to find out. Christmas and Thanksgiving are other examples of non Thai holidays where venues in Thailand celebrate as you know. Anyway it is great to be in Thailand no matter what the day, right??
  17. I see Boystown has some events planned for July 4. Any others? Anyone celebrating?
  18. Ok, I will PM you to see if you're are available next week. Fun...
  19. Maybe some bars can have both. I can think of some bars in Sunee that have a few "butch" guys working there. Come In Bar, some at Ouds, Krazy Dragon....ok I am still thinking...
  20. Tomorrow (July 1) I am taking 3 others there for dinner. 2 of them had visited before the new staff and chef came on board and had not planned to return. My pledge to them is if they don't find the food and service to be really good and the price fair, the dinner will be paid by me. So I guess my culinary taste is on the line. But I will post our experience after tomorrow. My only reason in doing this, is that I hope the restaurant prospers IF it deserves. Unfortunately we have seen a few really good places like Wi's close for lack of customers in this terrible low season. But so far, after the new staff, which Vicki agrees was not what it should have been, I have really enjoyed dining there. They are located on Soi Day Night 2 (tel. 089 0123633) closed on Tuesday. So let's see how it goes tomorrow and if really improved maybe I can make the same deal with Rich LB that I made with the guys going there tomorrow.
  21. Geezer and I had dinner together a few days ago at Chez Vicki and it was fantastic. There is a new chef that gets the meals out on time. The food we had was marvelous. New waiters speak very good English. Waiter Gak said he watches BBC to learn his English. So improved, I have eaten there 3 out of 6 days. Their 290 Baht (Soup, salad, Main is great value for the delicious meals) If you were turned off by the service before, give it another try. Very good...and handsome waiters. Vicki said that Sunday (?) she was going to preform after a set choice dinner. The dinner and show I think will be 690 baht.....not sure but I will check
  22. Even though Friday's are "Gay" night, it was not a special party night when Deep Splash has models and other events. When I was there early about 4 people, later about 15 people. I enjoyed the smaller crowd. It is certainly not "Corner Bar" and not meant to be. It is more of a place to "see and be seen". But for some of the guys that entertain us, it may give them a chance to see a more "international gay lifestyle". It just had a good feel for this one night and the guy I took with me. Gay Romeo Alertboy ??? Alertman??? Arti is his name at Splash and very pleasant bartneder
  23. Last night after having ribs at Cherry's, a farang friend and I went to see the Deep Splash bar over by the Avenue. Instead of going inside the hotel where they have a large lounge bar, we were told to take the outside elevator up to floor 3. I found the bar to be attractive. It has very modern furniture, mostly white. They also have 2 large patios with table and chairs for the smokers, so the 3 story air conditioned inside is smoke free. After having a drink, mojito (is that spelled wrong), my farang friend and I went to Boyztown. I met a guy and felt it was a bit too early to go home so asked if he wanted to get a drink at Deep Splash since Friday is "gay" night at Dusit2 Deep Splash. He never had been there so we went for a drink and really enjoyed a new upscale place. Warning...the music is loud but not ear piercing. The bar is also marketed for the younger HISO group that comes from Bangkok or the younger gay tourists. It is more like an American bar in West Hollywood. But I had a good time and thought some others may want to give it a try. I knew about Deep Splash but had no desire to go until I met a Gay Romeo poster saying he was a bar tender there. Thought what the hell, give it a try. I am glad I did.
  24. And the pushy mamasam will stay???
  25. I have a great video that is on Facebook about things to do in Cambodia. I want to copy it to Gaythailand. If I copy the link it sends you to Facebook and I know many don't have an account. Anyway to work around this?
