  1. If this has happened to several others, is there such a thing as an international class action suit?
  2. Any idea when the new owners will take over? Will the Board go dark for a time as it separates from Flirt for free? Maybe it is too early for these questions, but I was wondering of we would need to re-register.
  3. That seems like a good deal. I am paying 1900 baht to CAT for the same
  4. Is the speed you are getting from the USA or Thailand? Did they say if it might slow down when they have more customers hooked up? It sounds good. What is the price the charge for 4 mb? Thanks TOQ
  5. I am not having internet problems, but got caught in a loop when trying to sign in to the board. I received messages saying I was logged in but then received an ERROR page when I tried to post. Then signed in again and a page said I was signed in but then a page appeared saying my username or password was incorrect. I have internet with CAT and it has been good. What is the deal with Sompon Cable internet? New?
  6. I have heard about Salt and Pepper but never could find it! One day after eating at Chez Vickie, I wandered around and found a "bookstore, gift shop, restaurant". I looked for the sign to see the name of the place and could not see one. I asked a lady that was inside what the name was and she said "Salt and Pepper". I looked up again trying to find the sign, and she said, "no sign". Here husband came over and explained he had been in business so long, people seemed to know that this is "Salt and Pepper". I laughed and said I had been looking for over a year. I saw a place on another soi called "Pepper and Salt" which had closed. Oh well I know where it is and may try it tonight. Question for GT...Do you have to be a lady to try their Russian food?
  7. I think others feel the same. That is why the owners, would like to add some male hosts. The owners are good about listening to the customers, I feel
  8. May I suggest that you not apply to be a host there then.
  9. I was at Corner Bar a few nights ago and was told that they are looking to add some new hosts. As I understand it, some customers had been suggesting that the bar add some more masculine guys to the staff. Currently most of the staff are ladyboys. Not all but most. So if you know of any guys that are looking for a different opportunity, you may want to suggest they check out Corner Bar in Sunee Plaza. I do not know how many guys they are looking for, but apparently the wage is pretty good for a host bar. Not sure of any details.
  10. I wanted to pass on a couple of professional contacts. I have used other lawyers and computer specialist in Pattaya. But have never recommended any before this. A very good and capable lawyer is on Pattaya Central past Foodland going towards Sukumvit. He is Thai and also worked about 30 years in the USA for Fortune 100 company before returning to Thailand. The documents he has done for me have BOTH Thai and English on the same page. Paragraph of Thai then translation to English directly below, alternating this all the way through the document. So when signed, it is very clear as to the documents meaning. I have had other lawyers do a Thai document then a translated English document. Usually the Thai document gets signed and the English translation just attached. The problem for me has been if the documents get separated. I then am not sure what the Thai dcoument says, or if it is complete. Since the method he uses has each paragraph translated on the same page, one after another, when the document is signed, it is clear as to what is being signed. Khun Vit 081 916 5271. He is also unique because he has the cultural understanding of both Thai and Western culture. In the computer field, there are some great techs. One that I have can recommend is Bom at Killen's. He is Thai and a true "geek". His English is very good. So if you need a house call, for networking or understanding how to use different programs, he is very helpful, patient and knowledgeable. For repairs Killen has a shop on Theppasit. Bom's number is 081 295 3860 and 083 776 4973
  11. You may want to consider calling Bom Killen at 0812953860 or 0837764973. He spent almost 4 hours at my house doing all the things a tech guy does. He taught me a lot. Cost 500 baht
  12. Happy, Happy, Happy! I live in Thailand. How could I not be happy? Some days I am happier than others. Just like for all of us, challenges crop up now and then. Without these challenges life might be a bit boring. I am very happy with my relationships. I have more great farang friends my own age who like many of the things I like too. More than any single time in my life. They are very interesting, intelligent, fun guys. I am constantly learning things from them since they all have had varied life experiences. We can sit for hours talking about things, having a good time. Having or not having a boyfriend is a personal choice I feel. If it is what you want, don't worry how it will work out or doubt that it will. We ALL have had regrets and will have regrets. Everyone has had a broken heart or broken dream. But just because we might have had a bad meal, maybe even gotten the "runs", we go back out and eat! And if you feel you aren't happy for too long a time, talk to your friends, seek professionals who are trained to help. Those of us over (50?) are lucky. We have knowledge and experience that our younger "friends" still are striving to learn. I am so happy it sometimes scares the pee out of me. So if you see me walking around with a wet spot, understand it is just my happiness showing through.
  13. You are absolutely correct. I should not have made that post. It was not my place to do so. To show my sincerity, if there is one, I pledge not to attend unless I pay my share. Thank you for pointing this out to me.
  14. The hamburger with choice of french fries or onion rings is also very good. They seem to have good food sales to some of the surrounding bars too.
  15. I see I am in the minority here. I agree it is very simple for a group to get together and meet up, pay your own drink, etc. I accept that. But I like a bit of a party sometimes. Now, understand I am not trying to argue or disagree. Just put forward another view for moderators to consider as a group. I realize it is pretentious, possibly even rude to suggest that POSSIBLY this Message Board may want to offer some type of refreshments. Each pay for our own drinks, but the Board owner may be able to throw in some chips and dip. Just to make our Forum Get Together a bit more special. More like a party! GayThailand has been very generous in the past. He has invited those that posted a certain number of posts to a hosted breakfast AND had a raffle for round trip airfare to Bangkok and their home country. Very generous. I realize it is like me saying, lets have a party and have GayThailand pay for something. Probably not my place. But I feel that it may be something he MIGHT want to do. If I am out of line for making the suggestion, I apologize to him. Since it would be a GayThailand Forum Get Together, I would suggest that only active posters or those taking part of the 2 contests, be invited. Depending on the number that would be.... Ok, have at me now!
  16. Last week when I was in Panorama BT. There were 4 about 9pm. None at Oscars, 2 at Serene. Saw no one go into either Copa or BBB but I wasn't looking that hard either. Tonight (Sunday July 27, 2010) traffic on both South Pattaya and Second Road towards Central very heavy traffic. I think mostly Thais for the long Buddha holiday. So when we talk about numbers, gay tourists, straight farangs, Bangkok Thais, Russian Tourist, a number may not tell much or at least tell what we (I) really want to know. My main number concern, is where are the type of boys I want to visit.
  17. Some of asked where GayThailand is hiding. I read on another place, that actually he is taking part in an ancient ceremony...Nepal, Tibet, some where. We all need good karma.....
  18. True enough. Each can pay their own and it can be anywhere. My mindset was as Rainwalker and George did in the past. More of a hosted party, but certainly not necessary. I was thinking also of the picture contest GayThailand suggested with the 2 prizes which of course could just be part of a pay your own drink meet and greet. I see that GayThailand wrote that the moderators would discuss it.
  19. Ok, I see what you mean. My drinking limit is about 1 glass of wine and maybe one diet coke.
  20. In the past, we have had some very generous guys that sponsored "Meet and Greets". Some problems seemed to come up each time. A few decided that since it was someone else who was paying it was ok to load up on drinks and then criticize the host. When someone tried to use tickets to keep it reasonable, people complained. Etc. I met some really nice people at some of the "Meet and Greets". It would be nice if somehow one could be put together for members on the forum. How many people is that really? Before it was like an open house for all expats. If someone wants to do that fine, but I am wondering if it would be realistic to have something for active members that are able to attend? If funds were available would drinks have to be free? How about discounted instead? Say 50%, would this help keep abuse down? Maybe let it be open to those that posted a picture in one of the contests or posted at least one post in the last month. Not sure if any funds would even be available.
  21. As I understand there have been several foreigners that have been charged, detained in jail because they could not afford bail, and a year or so. When the case finally gets to trial the accused has been found not guilty. Can you imagine if you, were innocent, and put in this position. Pletnev has the funds and contacts. If this proves to be a set up, The child and womens protection agency will be looked at with skepticism. In the USA there is now a case where a black director of the USDA was fired because a conservative posted a statement out of context on his blog. Turns out, she was giving a very good speech about how discrimination can be changed. This has become an embarrassment for President Obama, and the federal director who fired her and then tried to rehire her for a better job. When an agency needs funding it is usually in their best interests to show big cases and enough cases to justify their existence and need for more international funding. If it is found that an agency has been promoting "setups", it can lead to no funding. Revoking a business visa before a trial and judgement seems unfair, and also adds a bit of what looks like black mail.
  22. @Bob I noticed you wrote "according to the current constitution". Do you know if it was different before this constitution? I read that in the 1997 constitution there was and continued to be conflict between that Constitution and the Penal code (libel). Thaskin used this (Penal code)to threaten many. "Among the provisions of the Constitution, article 39 states, "A person shall enjoy the liberty to express his or her opinion, make speeches, write, print, publicise, and make expression by other means." No better example of a law that violates this provision of the Constitution exists than section 328 of the Penal Code of Thailand. Section 328 allows for criminal defamation, punishable by a fine of up to 200,000 Thai baht (US $ 5000) and two years' imprisonment. This regulation does nothing to encourage enjoyment of liberty to express an opinion. On the contrary, it does everything to stifle it.
  23. Yes I was joking about him being 75....but RichLB, if you are calling our friend GB honorable, I must ask....are we talking about the same guy? Hell GB, you are loved by many more than you think
  24. I read somewhere that it is our own Gaybutton's Birthday today. He turns 75!
  25. People that commit crimes, should be prosecuted in my view. However..... Does anyone think that the Thai justice system may be corrupt? Could innocent people flee because they fear they will not get a fair trial in Thailand? Should they then be prosecuted in their home country if innocent? As I understand it, in Thailand you must prove yourself innocent, in many countries the prosecution must prove you are guilty with a preponderance of evidence. That is a very big difference. Example: Your neighbor is angry with you because your dog barks too much. Reports that you had sex with their under age daughter. The police are required to act. They get a warrant to search your house. They find KY and condoms. They arrest you. Ok, prove you did not do it. Ever get a ticket when driving around Thailand? Do you pay the tea money or would you fight it? Even several well connected Thais have fled Thailand. When asked why, they said the system is too corrupt. (Remember the 1 million baht found in a donut box being passed to the judges?) If I was convicted of a crime in Thailand and my choice was standing trial in Thailand or in my home country, I would certainly want to be prosecuted in my home country. I love living in Thailand. I want to live my life out here. I do everything I can not to "cross" the wrong person.
