  1. Try Yensabai Condos, Pattaya Rent a Room. http://pattayarentaroom.com/
  2. There is the DD Inn behind the 7-11 near the police box, just a 5 minute walk. Also used for beach encounters. Been there for years and out of the public eye.
  3. LoveThailand, Sounds like you might be using an American carrier. My friends have become so frustrated with Uniteds surcharges and policy changes they have decided to use Asian carriers in the future. I dumped Delta years ago and that was one of the smartest decisions I have made.
  4. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and concert performed by highly talented professionals. The program had something for everybody, from Bach to Bernstein.
  5. Having light skin is admired and envied here. Just look at all the products that advertise lighter skin in the health and beauty sections. My bf just spent 2000 baht on skin lightening pills. He is from Issan but not particularly dark skinned. People in Bangkok often look down on the brown skinned buffaloes from Issan. Boys from Issan are my personal preference.
  6. As bkkguy noted many posts ago "Don't feed the TROLLS".
  7. Good post Bob, I will back off too and let these want-to-be newbies have their fun and play their little games. Are we sure Neal really is in Paradise?(grinning)
  8. Michael, If you can believe any of this story (which I don't) then OP has made an unsubstantiated charge against this boy alleging planting drugs and extortion. When asked for more details he dreamed up one of the dumbest excuses I can recall. Remember, this all supposedly takes place at the Dusit Thani, a 5* hotel with 5* security. So he pays the extortion and then becomes fearful and checks out of the hotel. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to smell a rat. He ends his dribble inferring that all GR boys are like this and he is only going to off bar boys and pay the bar fine. Many posters saw through his smoke screen. Does he have an agenda, is he a troll or both? I really don't care. He's probably sitting in his room laughing like hell at the s**t he has stirred up. With that said, we all know the risks of taking somebody to your room. Nobody here needs to be lectured or listen to a sermon. In the past year, I had a friend lose two Iphones to GR boys who he befriended and thought he could trust. Another friend had his digital camera stolen by a bar boy so there are no guarantees in life, keep your guard up. In all these incidents my friends realized they they did not use good judgment. We have all dealt with firm requests for more money and know how to deal with them.
  9. I think others are also curious and waiting his reply.
  10. Michael I completely disagree with you and are missing the point that the OP's was story was a fabrication which you are apparently blind to acknowledge.
  11. +1 on the above post.
  12. Your first post, I am very suspicious and skeptical of this story.
  13. Yes, these will be the good old days for a newbie. We have several perspectives being posted here. Those of gay tourists and those of us former gay tourists who have retired here. I really can't speak about the bkk gay scene because they lost my business many years ago. My bkk gay friends have relocated to Pattaya (like me). We go to soi 4 when visiting but bkk gay life simply is of no interest. If Soi Twilight were to dissappear tomorrow with its high price drinks and smoking Asian clientele it would be absolutely no consequence to me. In my circle of friends I can think of at least twelve who used to visit the beach and/or bars on a regular basis. Today, there is one who goes to the beach and bars regularly and another who goes with bf explicitly for a beach massage. Because of the weather (rain) and the tree butchering I have stopped going, but will resume in December to be sociable for visiting friends. All my farang friends are sexually active, either have bf's (like me) or use now use social networking for dates. Are we jaded?... perhaps, but we do remember the past when the bars were fun, the boys of better quality, no drugs, etc...... now that was the true Paradise. That said, I hope everyone enjoys their holiday here and finds their Paradise and continues to come in the future.
  14. Maybe not the best term, but in reference to what some might call the "golden age" of Gay Thailand and the demise of the old gay scene; plentiful available boys on the beach, in the bars, just about everywhere. I remember my first visit and I thought I had just found Paradise. Things have changed a lot as witnessed by this former frequent gay tourist and now permanent resident.
  15. We might be part of the problem to a certain extent but this is 21st century, the age of the Internet(the Real World) . When I first came to Thailand the boys had no smart phones, wifi, 3g, FB, GR, etc.; now go to Sunny boys or any gay bar and watch the boys play with their phones, chatting, making dates. With every new technological advance there are casualties along the way (depending on your point of view). Who's is responsible for the downward spiral?.... us, the boys, politics, the bars, exchange rates, pricing? I do know farangs who live in the technological dark ages, no smart phone, Ipad, wifi, Kindle, amazon, etc. They don't know what they are missing but seem (or think) to be happy.
  16. There are many reasons why the boys don't favor the beach, and no one has suggested the "only" reason is the Internet. Those reasons have been thoroughly discussed in the past and there is no good reason to rehash them. Will there be a high season like the good old days?... I certainly hope so but the reality is the good old gay beach days scene is Gone with the Wind. I do give a Damn, it was a part of my life and I will miss it.
  17. My home country is the USA but I live full time in Thailand. I selected N. America. Somebody from Hawaii, I would suspect would select N. America. I think I would have lumped the Asia options together and have a separate category for UK/Ireland.
  18. Oh yes, reminiscing about the good old days never to return, reminds me of the opening text from "Gone with the Wind",....." There was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South. Here in this pretty world, Gallantry took its last bow. Here was the last ever to be seen of Knights and their Lady Fair, of Master and Slave. Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered, a Civilization gone with the wind..... "
  19. It is typical this time of year, not only do you get ships dumping their garbage but you get additional trash from the storm sewers. We have had rain regularly for the last two weeks and more forecast, so expect more pollution in the near term.
  20. No one is disputing the safety issue and the need for proper tree maintenance, the palms where people lay on the sand for their massage are often trimmed. I take issue with letting a contractor harvest the fir trees for their wood. Here is another picture of Rit's (section 015) tree "trimming". The sections to the south of the toilet mostly have a different type of tree and those areas may provide some shade.
  21. I took some photos early this morning. The pathway by Rit's has been restored and the trees by Rit's section have been trimmed. The trees before the toilets have not yet been trimmed. The tree stump is what remains of my old tree by the Rainbow section. I posted pics on SGF too.
  22. Page 2 of the Introduction says a lot
  23. Nice report, what does your bf think about about you continuing your trip alone? Just curious.
  24. I remember a friend who missed a flight years back when he was staying at the Malaysia. He had an early morning flight but left his passport in the security box at reception. The night staff had no access to the security boxes so he had to wait until the day staff reported to work.
  25. I would add Hornet to your search tools, never was a big fan of Grindr but it is still popular.
