Out in Curiosity, erected, why did you resurrect this topic of 2013 for your very first post?
-
I think you have lost any credibility or objectively on this subject. For some reason you believe you are the injured party which is a crock of shit. You wrote a veiled attack on older gay men living in Thailand, and now you have your tit in the ringer and you can't get out.

Street Food and Stalls to be driven out or hours Reduced
Up2u replied to firecat69's topic in Gay Thailand
Street vendors are a minor irritant for me and frankly Bangkok wouldn't be Bangkok without them. I say let the authorities look elsewhere for problems to solve. -
If you use sawng taeos, the hotel is on their route going in to town (Jomtien => Pattaya) but the outbound buses turn to Jomtien well before the hotel so it is off the route. Probably a minor inconvenience unless you have mobility issues.
-
And be sure you are using the full (desktop) version and not the mobile version.

Michael, when you opened this site years ago, it was a business, you accepted advertising and operated it as a business. Was it profitable, did you sell and profit?..... that is not the point. GB, pays for his site out of his own pocket and has no advertising to offset costs that I am aware of, so I would describe his site as a service to gay tourists and expats in Pattaya and Thailand and not a business. Out, is a for profit business venture. It is a disservice to publish incorrect information or inaccurate maps. It looks like some of these maps were copied from Spartacus 1999(smiling), little effort to create or obviously maintain them. The onus and costs is on Out, as a business, to maintain them. There is nothing wrong with asking their customer base for pointing out inaccuracies but ultimately it is Out's responsibility. If they cannot provide good accurate maps then they should not be published.
-
The Out system or methodology is broken, you must have boots on the ground reporting and updates, and not be dependent on kind readers. No maps are better than maps full of inaccuracies. Here is a site that can do it right. http://www.nickysgaypattaya.com/gay-pattaya/sunee-plaza/map-sunee-plaza/

The beach was closed again yesterday (Wednesday), no plans to change the status quo.
-
There is only a sprinkling of eye candy in the afternoon so do not have high expectations as the good old days are gone. There are some younger Russians (25-40) that are easy on the eyes but not my cup of tea. Actually I see more boys in the low season.
-
That was an earlier typo, should have read Sansuk Sauna siting. Yes, his friend is nice looking, but the boy in the white speedo steals the show everytime. Tall, slim, and hung (from my friend's report) so what's not too like? I have not seen the other boy at the beach in a long long time.
-
He used to sit near my section, eat Thai food at Jomtien complex and work at one of the bars in the complex(opposite 4T).I have witnessed him at the beach breakup with a young Russian by throwing his drink at him. Also had a few Sanuk sitings from friends. I have never seen him on grindr, gayromeo, hornet, etc.
-
He comes and goes, last siting was about 10 days ago. Before that he disappeared for months and before that I saw him in the Jomtien Complex. He may have a long term bf now.

Rit's is section 015, the orange chairs, just by the toilets. All sections are clearly marked with names and/or numbers and have different colored chairs.

8 hour day then ot rules apply. Legimate businesses play by the rules but I doubt small mom and pop, independents play by the rules especially in Issan. Our condo had a 20% budget increase last year to cover salaries because of the new rules.
-
The numbering system remains the same and the concessionaires kept their old numbers.
-
If you enjoy sitting at Rit's section he was moved two sections to the south (closer to the toilet) so his section has some shade (until these trees are butchered). That is one positive for him although his section is smaller, narrower with fewer chairs. Some concessionaires are using a higher percentage of white beds (100 baht), trying to recover lost income I guess. It has not been hot so loss of shade has been minimized.
-
Yep, anyone who depends on the beach for their livelihood is not happy. No one wants to take a 14% cut in their income. I don't see anything positive about this change.
-
I am sure most members know, if you are have been following any of the other gay boards or Thaivisa that the beach concessionaires are mandated to close every Wednesday for cleaning and to give the public free access to the beach. This also means there is no massage or other services of any type.

I walk through the complex almost daily and it currently busy, especially when compared to the other gay areas. There were two street parties last night. All the drinking bars have plenty of hosts and the restaurants in the area seemed busy. How long will it last? The complex has no go go bars but just about everything else. I like having a drink before dinner at one of the bars and then just a two minute walk to many of the dining choices in the area (Tapas, Ritz, Yupins, Le'arc, Indochine, Sam's, Casa Fellini, La Bocca, Natan's, Antz, just to name a few).

I have TMB and Bangkok Bank and had been sending money to Thailand from America for many years including my bf. It is just as Michael described and I have sent money to my contractor and various vendors using the online transfer feature. They don't have to belong to the same bank. Thais like to use the Cash Deposit machines to send money to friends and family.

I think you will find the Tarntawan is about three times the cost of the Malaysia although it includes the excellent breakfast and free wifi.

Better hotels use carpeting for comfort, noise, etc. My last visit the Pinnacle was busy shampooing the carpets for health and cleanliness. Anyone living in a condo or patronizing a hotel with tile or granite floors knows how noisy they can be be. And yes carpeting must be shampooed regularly just like tile floors must be mopped regularly.
-
I like the Pinnacle too. The short walk to the MRT is so convenient or getting a taxi right on Rama 4. You can have gridlock during the morning and commute hours (dinner hour) on Soi Ngam Duplee. I no longer deal with the hassle of using Jimmy as saving a 100 baht isn't worth it, just use Agoda. Not having an in room safe is a deal breaker for me, years ago I stopped staying at the Tarntawan primarily for that reason (I am told they have safes now).
