  1. Ain't goin' to happen, you know it and I know it. Doesn't Prime Minister Prayuth have a nice ring to it?
  2. In my life I have known a lot of tops who are no longer with us.
  3. Nobody should be surprised.
  4. Small budget guesthouses like Baan Dok Mai, have a regular following and always best to book early. A better reflection on the coming high season would be places like Ambiance, Poseidon, Baan Souy, etc. Currently in Pattaya I talked to to a straight small guesthouse owner and he reports typical occupancy this time of year is 30-40%. Last week he had absolutely zero guests and high season bookings were off 30%.
  5. My recommendation would be Baan Souy based on a friend's experience. Sanuk is down the steep hill and requires a taxi but BS is right on the song taeo route - 10 baht to Jomtien or BT, no dangerous motorbike taxi. SS will be an easy visit for you.
  6. We are all waiting with abated breath for your own answer to your question. And why or why not?
  7. No. Do you?
  8. Make a gr daytime hookup at the beach. Dd Inn behind the Bamboo bar has short time rooms.
  9. Then just grab a baht bus practically at your doorstep.
  10. Gandymede no longer promotes itself as a gay hotel. There business model is now straights and families. There is absolutely nobody drinking there, all the action is on the adjacent sois. Suggest the Venue and East Suites, poseidon is pricier. Gandymede has been delisted from nickysgaypattaya website after they talked to the Gandymede management.
  11. Not a wine aficionado but since he is near Khao Yai National Park it is certainly worth a visit. Can do it in a day if you get an early start.
  12. Surprised more people haven't mentioned Baan Souy, the action around the pool could be interesting. Easy baht bus ride to Jomtien, BT or Sunee.
  13. When I was a tourist here there never was a need for a car. When you live here your priorities are different and Pattaya is a much bigger city now. Many of you have never visited the "dark side", Wat Yarn, Nong Nooch (no tour bus), Silverlake, etc. and witnessed the growth to the south and east of Pattaya City.
  14. I have been driving in Pattaya for several years now. It was a big change from driving in California but I have made the adjustments. So many more hazards here but it was worth the effort. Driving gives you freedom and you are not married to sawng taeo routes.
  15. I was at the Paragon at noon time, very few tourists. I saw quite a few young foreign backpackers on the sky train however. Had lunch at piri piri chicken and only 3 tables were occupied. Btw, piri piri at Central Silom has closed.
  16. Well, what you post on fb applies only to a Thai I guess: http://www.dailynews.com/general-news/20140627/4-absurdly-harmless-acts-now-criminalized-by-thailands-military-rulers
  17. Have a great trip and I have always enjoyed your pics.
  18. Whoops, that is soi 1.
  19. I was surprised to learn that several of the Pattayaland Soi 3 bars have sex and big cock shows. I am sure they stopped because of the coup(?).
  20. Are you aware that most Thai banks have increased their service fee from 33 to 153 baht per cheque? Combining this with the overall hassle of tc's I would not recommend them.
  21. Super Rich always has excellent rates, locations here: http://www.superrich1965.com/location.php
  22. Hope it wasn't Dr. Tappasit, he is my dentist and I have always been pleased with his work.
  23. http://m.apnews.com/ap/db_306485/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=9N9aLFQG http://in.reuters.com/article/2014/05/28/thailand-politics-facebook-idINKBN0E80U520140528
  24. I agree with your post but this could have said during the previous (17?) coups. The fact is a civilian leader making a statement like that is contrary to the constitution and in itself treasonous. This speaks to the fact that the constitution needs to be rewritten. Unfortunately it will be now with the military calling the shots.
  25. For those curious about this General now running the country and calling the shots; his background, will he be fair, etc.: http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/05/24/thailand-coup-gen-prayuth-chan-ocha-who-led-military-takeover-strong-defender/ http://charlesfrith.blogspot.com/2012/08/is-general-prayuth-chan-ocha-scared-of.html
