  1. I arrived 22 November using UA miles from Detroit in USA. This trip my itinerary was DTW/IAD/PEK/BKK on the way down. From DTW to PEK was on UAL.PEK airport was a delightful change. From the time I deplaned to the time I reached my connecting gate was less than 30 minutes. So much easier than previous transfers in NRT. I arrived in BKK 21:20 in time to make last call in Pattaya. My return will be Air China BKK to PEK, and PEK to IAH. From IAH I will return to DTW on UAL. Cost 150K miles and $76.80 for business class. DL, the major player in DTW for same dates wanted 265K miles, leaving a few hours later and arriving 23:30. Total travel times were less than an hour's difference from my UAL itinerary and DL's. DL would have required transfer through NRT.
  2. For the first time I changed money right here in USA. I discovered Chase and Bank of America both will do it here (Chase actually gets it from BoA. As a customer I paid only the exchange fee, no processing fees. It took less than 24 hours to have the Thai baht in my hands.
  3. Agreed, but I believe that there are those "admirers" out there who feel that their own lack of honesty on profiles, "I'll take care of you forever," etc. is perfectly acceptable, but hold Thai boys to an entirely different standard. Just looking at the Thai profiles on Gay Romeo, several include some version of "tired of farang lying to me."
  4. I would add in 'face-saving'. Anyone who has taken the time to learn about Thai culture knows how important face-saving is to Thai people. Rather than come out with a blunt statement that might offend, Thais are taught not to confront so will often say something evasive, non-offensive, or a downright "lie" (from a Western perspective) so as not to be perceived as disrespectful or confrontational.
  5. I would disagree only in that I don't think it's even close. I suspect the Admirers are much better at lying judging from some of the profiles on Cam4, Camfrog and even GR. Many haven't seen 50 y/o in at least 10 years yet list themselves as 32, 35, 39 etc.
  6. Personally, I am not so much offended as confused. If one knows (or anticipates) in advance that a title will provoke and "won’t get new friends", they why use it unless that is, indeed, the desired outcome? Not trying to be judgemental, but it seems incongruent to me. As for Thai boys being "retarded", if that's the case, I could (but wouldn't) say that about boys from ANY country. These boys are generally 18-25ish. MOST boys that age, regardless of culture or nationality, are self-absorbed and have short attention spans. Though it has been rare, I have erncountered boys from several countries including my home country, not show for one reason or another. Add in language differences and confusion about time and place of meeting will liklely increase. If anything, I have found Thai boys to be more goal-oriented, hard-working, and respectful than their Western counterparts; not always, but most in my experience. However I can never forget that they are young and the young have different priorities etc. To each his own as the saying goes, but I cannot imagine waiting for a boy for 6 hours, especially while on holiday. Nor can I imagine making fourth or fifth "dates" if he has failed to show for the first three. In the USA there is an old saying... "Fool me once. Shame on you. Fool me twice. Shame on me!" Again, not trying to judge, but I have come to believe that life (including holidays) is, for the most part, what you make it.
  7. Alas. Like Benedick and Beatrice, me thinks what we have here is much ado about nothing!
  8. When you get around to bottling that cute smile, I'll take a dozen!!! Very cute guy
  9. Remington's and Flash in Toronto charge 155 bht (5.00) cover. Bars in MTL don't charge cover. Both T.O. and MTL charge about 187 bht (6.00) for beer/soda and 311+bht (10.00 and up) for mixed drinks. Neither has off fees for the boys but "tips" to take a boy off will run you 3110 - 4666 bht (100.00 - 150.00 or more)in Canadian$. Tips for private dance now run 311 bht per song for no touching and 622 bht per song for touching above the waist. They mix a lot of songs and if your not careful, a 5 minute private "dance" can cost you $60 - $80 Canadian! Safve to say, BKK and Pattaya are a FAR better deal for the money
  10. I certainly hope the good doctor doesn't try to apply her formula finding research to penis size and sexual satisfaction. By the time I finished reading her formula for perfect pizza size I was no longer hungry. If she tried to apply it to sex, most of us would likely fall asleep before the deed was done!
  11. I thought they roasted Don Cherry, Hockey Night in Canada analyst and former coach on that night
  12. The top is Nong Nooch and the bottom pic is from the Sanctuary. I took a half-day tour to each which I got from the tour desk at the Marriott next to Royal Garden. I didn't stay at the Marriott but they gladly helped me with the tours. If you are taking someone it may be cheaper to hire a taxi but I have no experience with that so I can't say with any certainly as my trip to the Sanctuary was alone. I think you put it perfectly when you said "Not all chance encounters need to be toy/ATM meetings only." I'm sure the prime driver for most of these boys is the off fee, but if you throw in something like a Thai cultural experience that they've likely never been able to afford you are really enhancing their lives and yours!
  13. I know this is too late to respond to the original questioner, but since the topic is "What to do in Pattaya" I would like to add things not bar or restaurant related which, IMHO, are worth a visit: Last trip I went to Sanctuary of Truth for the first time, I found it truly remarkable especially as there were wood carvers there working on additional pieces. I'd recommend a half-day (at least) at Nong Nooch and another at Sriracha Tiger Zoo. I visit every time I'm in LOS and never get tired. An evening at one of the female impersonator places such as Alkazar can be fun for a first time visitor. To make it more fun, take a boy or a couple as it's likely that they've never been, or can't afford to go back. I remember my first time in Thailand. I went with a gay tour group (now defunct I think). We were in BKK the night before the King's birthday. Our Thai guides had arranged a trip to the palace to vide the fireworks, lights and celebration. The other 8 members of the group asked to get out of the van before we reached the palace so they could get to the bars "before all the best boys are gone." I could see the look of disappointment on the guides' faces. I truly enjoyed participating and engaging in some local culture. I remember the cultural experiences far more clearly than the names and faces of offed boys.
  14. Is it possible for a gay to walk "straight" out? I thought the rule book says walk gay out no matter what!
  15. I think you will be pleased with Le Café as they call it. I stayed there last year and was pleasantly surprised. I just made another reservation for November. I believe they still have a free guest cocktail hour on Tuesdays. As mentioned above, many good bars around. I haven't \tried Toy Boys but heard good things, it's located next door. Funny Boys is across the street. There are some nice guys hanging around Panorama Bar at the end of the Soi. Best looking boys? I think that's a matter of taste,
  16. Thank you all for your thoughts so far. According to Bangkok Air, I can fly from Utapo (not sure of the spelling) outside of Pattaya directly to Koh Samui and return to BKK for less than taxi back to BKK and R/T BKK to Kpoh Samui.
  17. Looking for some advice from those who have travelled more extensively around the area than I have. I just booked a flight to LOS for 10 day stay late Nov. I plan on staying in Pattaya for about 5-6 days and end my trip in BKK for 2 days. It's the in-between part I need help with. I thought about a side trip to Bali but pretty expensive from BKK. Vietnam I can do for $175 r/t on LH. I went to CM last trip. Did Phuket once before and wasn't that thrilled especially after a mamasan at My Way tried to rip me off (and when I told the owner he just walked away). Reviewing the city info on this site, I am now considering Koh Samui. I found a Hotel that is reasonably priced overlooking the ocean with balcony Jacuzzi for 2. I understand that nightlife is more laid back and not the same number of bars as BKK or Pattaya and that's OK. Any personal experiences I can take advantage of? is 4 days/3 nights too much? Thanks in advance.
  18. I agree withy Vinapu's comments and would add this about staff - I arrived from USA late at night and didn't have my cell phone charged. I wanted to contact a Thai guy I had chatted with on G-Romeo. The desk clerk gave me change, took me to the pay phone outside the hotel's front door and dialed the call for me, introducing me in Thai to the person I was calling. He said local phone calls from inside the hotel were too expensive and he wanted to save me money. He also gave directions in Thai to the person I called so he could come visit me. I find that kind of service impressive and even more impressive was he refused my attempts to tip him for his help. My only "complaint" is that the bed in my room was too close to the ground, basically a mattress (comfortable) on a low pedestal.
  19. I have enjoyed the animal shows in Thailand and other countries as long as the animals are treated humanely.
  20. "Greed, corruption, incompetence, etc. etc." I did a reverse dictionary look-up. That's the definition of government's role... "A good government remains the greatest of human blessings and no nation has ever enjoyed it." Dean Inge, (6 June 1860 – 26 February 1954),
  21. If this supermarket has a customer loyalty card... where can I sign up?
  22. I went back and looked. I booked through Agoda. Rate for Superior Double with breakfast was $58.43/nite USD and that was late November.2012
  23. Last trip to Thailand I spent only 2 days in BKK. I stayed in a hotel I had never heard mentioned before, the Glitz Hotel http://www.glitzbangkok.com/. It is half-block down from Tartawan Place so easily within walking distance from the bars. I was very satisfied. My rate included a breakfast buffet with cooked to order eggs made by an attentive elderly Thai woman. There is no people elevator, but they do have a dumb waiter for your luggage. I was on the 3rd floor and didn't feel it was a problem since I didn't have to haul my luggage. They checked IDs and there was no problem with overnight guests. The desk clerks were very helpful in arranging transportation back to the airport and helping me find my way to places I wanted to visit. One thing to keep in mind as a first time visitor - Thai pronunciation of English words can be VERY different from Western pronunciation. When I was trying to get to the hotel no one knew what or where Glitz was. When I finally arrived I asked staff what the name of the hotel was and they said it was "Gleece." From then whenever I asked to go to the Gleece tuk-tuk and taxi drivers knew where I wanted to go. Pics are of my room at the Gleese
  24. If you set up your profile and cruise a few Thai boy profiles (leaving a footprint), don't be surprised if you get a message asking, "When you come Thailand" or "When you come Pattaya you call me OK?" I get that all the time. I'm hoping to get back sometime in November and I check the Pattaya and Bangkok sections on GR periodically and I already have a few phone numbers. Enjoy!!
  25. Is it legal in Thailand to get your dimper sucked?
