  1. Hence, the wonderment!!!
  2. NO....I don't think he is saying that at all. In fact, the Queen's Birthday is no longer a "bar closing" holiday as of 4 years ago.
  3. Gaythailand.....I agree with you re: Duc's Bar with two exceptions: Cleanliness - I would give 5.25 stars Boys' Ages - 4.66 stars (22 yo and older)
  4. GB, I agree with you 100%. I think a star system would be misleading and useless. A much more useful "barometer" are the narrative reports on the board provided by patrons. The narrative reports allow for detailed descriptions of what the author has seen and experienced. These "bar attributes" are too subjective and cannot be easily quantified. A star system would be to simplistic. An example of this is the issue of a clean bathroom. Not everyone has the same standards when calling something "clean." Your clean may well be my dirty. And then there is the issue of stars. How many stars? 5? 50? 100? How about half stars? Maybe quarter stars? In each category, what is the definition of a star? of 2 stars? 2.25 stars? 34 stars? Finally, GB (as usual) raises an excellent point. "There are also too many people, and we've seen these kinds of posts before, who have something against certain bars and are not above telling others how terrible it is even if it isn't." This jaded, slanted reporting does a disservice to both the members of the board and the bars that are maligned. IMHO
  5. Yes, TravelerJim is correct. YaYa is located in Sunee Plaza where Sundance was formerly located. The bar also has a complimentary PC for checking email, etc.
  6. A couple of weeks ago, a friend and I decided to get a thai driver's license. We agreed to do this with a great amount of trepidation. The honest truth is that it was rather pleasant. Thanks to GayButton's article. GayButton's article describing the steps was fantastic. Followed it step by step and walked out smiling. RECOMMENDATION: Read GayButton's article before you go....life is easier. Oh yes, thanks GayButton!!
  7. RichLB........ A BIG thanks for your recommendation of Killin. I called him this afternoon and he came tonight to do the work. WOW!! Great service, great knowledge and.....a great recommendation from you. Thanks so much.
  8. HELP!!!!!! Am having some computer/internet/system problems and need to find someone who is knowledgeable with reasonable fees. Any recommendations of someone? If my memory serves me correctly, there was someone recommended a while back. But cannot find the post...the story of my life.
  9. lol oh my god...and I have been calling here "5-baht Latrina" as there years. No wonder she never answered me...wrong name.
  10. I am planning a short trip (4 days to Ho Chi Minh City) to Vietnam from Bkk. I am US citizen. My question is this: Has anyone used the "visa service" for the Vietnam Visa? ...where you apply online and they process and send you email letter. This letter you then take to airport and receive visa stamp. Is this true? There are several of these websites. Are these websites legit? Sounds to good to be true. Anyone done this process? Thanks for any info
  11. Anyone have any experience with the French embassy ?
  12. I have a couple of questions about tap water in Thailand and hopefully someone in the know has the answers. #1 It is advised NOT to drink the tap water here in Thailand. Why is that? Bacteria? Chemical pollution? Both? #2 If the tap water not drinkable, can it safely be used to wash food items that will be consumed? How about in cooking? Have discussed with friends and all seem to have differing opinions. Help!!
