  1. I do love that painting. I had an art history professor in the 1980's share it with me and I thought it was fabulous. He sparked an interest in art for me and I have been a lover ever since. Growing up in Alabama the biggest art thing we had was a bluegrass festival. When I went away to college, I was immersed in art from the the museums of Washington, D.C., New York, Boston, Baltimore, Philly, London, Paris. I was able to tour London on a literary tour with my college and was first introduced to musicals. But, in the day, we spent time on museum scavenger hunts. My professor was an art historian and British Literature professor. She shared 3 weeks of music, art, and literature with us. One of the nights, we saw Ian McClellan in Richard III and he went to a pub with us as they were friends. This was shortly after he was knighted and was the first openly gay actor I knew. I believe this was the early 90s. On that trip, I saw this painting by Manet. I do not remember where I saw it at but we went to a different museum each day for 3 weeks and then musicals at night. I think this was the trip I saw the roller skating musical. I know it was the trip I saw Miss Saigon (more than once) before it came to USA. Thank you for bringing up this amazing painting and so many wonderful memories. One quick one: I shared a room with a girl for the trip. We were best friends. And, she was happy I didn't try to take advantage of her. LOL If she could only see me now.
  2. Well, I certainly enjoyed the show. I think it is going to be really good. Of the actors, I liked Danny Ramirez. BTW: thanks for the heads up about this. I didn't know about it and glad I now know.
  3. Yes, odd policy. But, the way things seem to play out in LOS is that they take a dart and throw at the dart board and see what sticks. Will this stick?
  4. He was impressive. I saw him perform in NYC many times and loved listing to him. RIP
  5. One of the victims sons started a Gofundme page and raised a lot of money. Just reading through it, it seems the Asian American community is rallying behind them. Where are the Southern Baptists? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2021/03/19/atlanta-shootings-victims-include-single-mom-who-lived-sons/4766989001/
  6. I don't quiet get why anyone who disclosed they used marijuana in the past is an issue? Do they want people to lie? Why is this even an issue today? Biden's camp needs to move into 2021. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2021/03/19/jen-psaki-says-5-staffers-no-longer-employed-over-marijuana-use-policy/4764283001/
  7. Well, this show is now on Season 4. Drama galore. But, something about watching rednecks party and fight brings home fond memories of my childhood. This year they are in Montana. Montanabama looks just an nutty as the other ones.
  8. 8 people are dead in Atlanta, Georgia. A Southern Baptist white male kills Asians. This is a direct result from hearing our former President Trump spew his “China Virus” narrative all over national television last year. When Americans hear this shit, they are often not smart enough to read and dissect things on their own. They are taught to believe what they are told from the pulpit. The pulpit told them Trump was the 2nd coming. Elections matter. Keep Trump and anyone that supported him out of politics forever, is crucial to the American people in order to survive.
  9. Looking forward to hearing the adventures! 1,200 Business class airfares from USA? That is incredible. I found I could often get business class to Bangkok cheaper than business class to Brazil. It seems that the number of business travelers have really dwindled during Covid.
  10. Below is the full list of the nominees. I normally have watched them all by now. But, this year I am at a bit of a loss having not seen the vast majority of these. We have often had an Oscar Contest here. We will do it again this year. I'll post this list again in April and ask anyone interested to select their picks. In the meantime, here they are. Any comments on any of these? 11. Well, first I would have to start with my age. The Hobbit played such an important part of my life. I grew up loving it and reading it under the covers at night. To this day, I have read it over 20 times (most likely 100). Next, the book that made me think more than any other book, Pedagogy of the Oppressed. I read this in college and it makes this think more every time I read it. I went to a very liberal college and the professor hooked me onto this. Perhaps, my favorite book I ever read was Ulysses. Again, I have read it at least 20 times and learn more every time I read it. One Hundred Years of Solitude. I read this in college and fell in love with the author and read all his books. Last, Captain Corelli's Mandolin. A good friend gave me this in law school, many moons ago, and inscribed on it a nice note. I read it and it was like reading poetry. To this day, I can look at it on my self, remember the characters and remember my friend. So, that tells you a lot about my life. I love books. I love reading. As you might be able to tell, I like rereading books just as much.
  12. Well, this is good news. It says that things are slowing coming back again. That is a good sign.
  13. I know many who are doing the Houseboy thing. Many are also trying to convince their man they want to be with them for a long time when in essence they are just going to be there till work picks back up and they can make more money. No. No. I am not self projecting here! Jupiter Boy loves me for me.
  14. Daydreamer, like magic, you now have the same icon at the top of your post. However, like dark magic, I don't know what it means. I did figure out we once had a different category of member and that is why those icons are there. I am trying to find how to either make this for all or remove for all. Magic is dangerous and I don't want to delete anyone by accident so it may take some time.
  15. Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing?
  16. From @Lucky Prolific poster @AdamSmith passed away on December 3, 2020. He went to Duke University and then Yale, where he graduated with Honors. He was a great guy who has been on this site for years.
  17. This is a lad I met from a site MANY years back. I stayed often at the Intercontinental Rio (now closed) and this guy lived right near the hotel. He was my daily wake up call. I met him via a site but he did work at many of the saunas.
  18. Porto Alegre is one of my favorite cities on earth. I love the city, the vibe, the sauna, the guys, and the food. I could very easily live there.
  19. I have not been depressed but at times a bit lonely. The result of self-isolation based on age and weight and a desire to not get Covid keeps me careful of my surroundings. I wanted to return to the USA for a bit this year, but fear of getting Covid will prevent that. I want to go to Brazil and Colombia but fear again will prevent that. Luckily, Jupiter Boy has been good to me and for me. He has kept me on my toes at times and laughing at other times. Just last night, I was getting ready to go to bed and he was getting ready to color his own hair. He said he would not pay the high prices of shops. But, when I woke up, the color was not what I (or he) was expecting. It made me laugh a bit which pissed him off until he was laughing. Little moments like that keep me entertained. Still, not seeing family for a while is hard. But, their age is even older than mine and I would not see them unless I quarantined for days. One show that I think has dealt with the virus well is Queen Sugar. I think the show is doing a great job at showing the loneliness and depression based on isolation.
  20. The cut in quarantine from 14 days to 7 is a great sign of things to come. Reading this, it seems the committee has approved this but I don't see where this is official yet. Has this been set into place? https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30403453?fbclid=IwAR0vU7swkEacRdPZP652KtSj9MO4eXG4vo9S2-adlKT5QNGfldPyBhp6a1s
  21. I am sure Phillip. Would not surprise me in the least. The interview was interesting to watch. It was fascinating. I watched the entire thing on YouTube Live.
  22. No need to speculate. He is fine.
  23. I was thinking the exact same thing.
  24. Thanks for sharing about Australia. I had read about some of the EU countries not shipping vaccines there but did not fully understand the rationale.
