WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Blasting the For the People Act, Senator Mitch McConnell claimed that the bill’s passage would bring the United States “to the brink of democracy.” “The Democrats can dress this bill up any way they want, but their real agenda couldn’t be clearer,” the Senate Minority Leader said. “They want to turn the United States of America that we love and cherish into a democracy.” Noting that the word “democracy” originated in ancient Greece, he vowed, “I will not sit idly by and watch a foreign form of government sneak across our border.” McConnell rallied his fellow Republican senators by reminding them that “we’re the only thing standing between this country and democracy.” “The people who voted for us did not vote for us so that other people could vote for other people,” he said. https://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/mitch-mcconnell-warns-that-voting-bill-would-bring-us-to-brink-of-democracy

Bangkok Pride: Meet LGBTQ+ who lead the way for equality in Thailand
TotallyOz replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
I have wondered if it was time for the gay community to have another gay pride march and celebration. It has been in my plans to help organize this last year but due to Covid, I did not. The older I get, the less inclined I am to do things like this. But, I do think there are many younger groups of students who are true advocates and interested in bringing these issues out for the masses. I have met many Thai guys, not moneyboys, but just professional gay guys, and they all say the same thing and that is their family is very conservative. I would love to see this changed, even if slowly, in my lifetime. -
Thailand is widely viewed as an LGBTQ+-friendly nation. But there are very real challenges for the LGBTQ+ community beneath the surface. Official support has been mixed, with the government promoting and capitalizing on LGBTQ+ tourism yet still not recognizing same-sex marriages. Even Pride Month, born to pay tribute to the 1969 Stonewall riots each June, has lost some of its original intent between rainbow-washing and tokenism. https://coconuts.co/bangkok/features/bangkok-pride-meet-lgbtq-who-lead-the-way-for-equality-in-thailand/ This was a very interesting article.

Great photos. Thank you for sharing. And, the empanadas look fabulous! -
I enjoy airplane food. My favorite story of food was about 20 years ago I took my two elderly aunts to Thailand from USA. First time on a plane. I flew them Northwest Business Class as they were in their 70's. We took off and they were eating lobster when one of them said, "I see why you fly so much. This isn't hard at all. I could get use to this." I told them to go back and look in the other section of the plane. They did, and they were so grateful to me for flying them in business. My Aunt died a few years back, but her best memories were from that trip. My BF back then showed them a great time. There were tons of photos as we spent 3 weeks in Thailand and every major city. When they were on the plane home, my aunt said to her sister, "what are we going to tell people about the Thai guy in all our pictures" and she said, "I'll tell them this is my nephew's boyfriend and he was good to us." The defrost started with the lobster and ended with them always asking about the BF.

David Archuleta comes out as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community
TotallyOz replied to TotallyOz's topic in The Beer Bar
He was young when he was on Idol and I remember talking about how I thought he was gay. He did come out to his family earlier and now to the world. It is good he felt comfortable to do that as his family is very religious and he is as well. I know this was a struggle for him. -
"I like to keep to myself but also thought this was important to share because I know so many other people from religious upbringings feel the same way. I’ve been open to myself and my close family for some years now that I am not sure about my own sexuality. I came out in 2014 as gay to my family. But then I had similar feelings for both genders so maybe a spectrum of bisexual. Then I also have learned I don’t have too much sexual desires and urges as most people which works I guess because I have a commitment to save myself until marriage. Which people call asexual when they don’t experience sexual urges. There are people experiencing the same feelings of being LGBTQIA+, (i know that’s a lot of letters that a lot of people don’t understand, but there are a lot of unique experiences people feel and live that make them feel isolated and alone that are represented) who are wrestling to follow their beliefs that are so important to them, just as I have. Idk what to make of it and I don’t have all the answers. I just invite you to please consider making room to be more understanding and compassionate to those who are LGBTQIA+, and those who are a part of that community and trying to find that balance with their faith which also is a huge part of their identity like myself. I think we can do better as people of faith and Christians, including Latter-day Saints, to listen more to the wrestle between being LGBTQIA+ and a person of faith. There are more than you may realize going through that wrestle after all the misunderstandings that come with it. I don’t think it should come down to feeling you have to accept one or the other. For me to find peace the reality has been to accept both are real things I experience and make who I am. I’ve yet to figure out what that means but I appreciate you listening to this personal matter. Again I don’t feel comfortable sharing it, but felt I needed to to bring more awareness to people in my same situation and let you know you’re not alone. You can be part of the LGBTQIA+ community and still believe in God and His gospel plan." https://www.instagram.com/p/CQB0FNtlLrs/

I have eaten there about 20 times and enjoyed it each time. Went just this week and got the meatballs, and it was good. I love the atmosphere and the outdoor area is beautiful.

Pose - Ryan Murphy's FX Gay Show

I just finished the series finale. It was spectacular. The last few episodes really allowed for every actor to shine in different ways. This was truly moving and beautiful. If you didn't watch it when it was out, binge it. It will be worth it. -
Expats are included in Thailand’s vaccination plan
TotallyOz replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
Like you I registered but waiting on email confirmation. What this tells me is that the government can say, "we allowed foreigners to register" and not actually be able to make appointments. I did have a Thai friend that went today for her jab at one of the two places listed and she said there were zero foreigners there and was told by doctors they were not yet allowed to vaccinate foreigners. -
Good video summary of all (some) of the new features. I have a hard time keeping up with all these changes. I am probably most excited about the new look to Maps.

"It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet 'Lili' Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world," the statement said. "Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital," it said, adding that the new arrival weighed in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces (3.49 kilos) and that "both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home." "Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales," the statement added.

Have a fantastic trip. I loved the photos. Esp. the steak. A big thing for me is Argentinian beef (in all sorts). -
@readerI was there at the AID Memorial Quilt in 1992. It was beautiful and sad. My first boyfriend was in NYC when I moved there. He was Brazilian: smoking hot. We were together for a few months before he told me he was positive. I didn't know what to do or say and he helped me to protect myself in the future. He said one thing that really stuck out in my mind (other than amazing sex and insane jealousy) and that was that he would not wish this on anyone so he will also be safe and protect me and others. He was a stunner. We were together for 5 years and he did protect me. And, I learned from him. As this Covid19 hits I wear a mask, sanitize, and take all precautions not just to protect myself but others. BTW: I believe that was around 1995. He is still telling others to protect themselves and others.

You are just full of surprises! I love Fort Lauderdale as well. I didn't realize it was that much closer via Flights to Rio and Sao Paulo but I've never traveled from there. Good luck with your search!

June 5, 1981 was the first cases that AIDS was reported. Five gay men in LA died and currently over 32 million have died. I have lost friends and family to this. Our community was forever changed. https://www.hiv.gov/hiv-basics/overview/history/hiv-and-aids-timeline

Horrible ideas. I see lots of lawsuits with the stairs and falling, etc. I do like the idea of being able to stand and why I liked Korean Air Business Class. It has a lounge in the back that was so refreshing to be able to stand and have a drink.

Another 700 7-Eleven stores to open across Thailand

I have seen 3 all in a 100 meter area. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me but they must be making money. -
I heard 72% of all adults live within 20 miles from where they grew up. For me, it is 9033 miles.
