  1. I am in Pattaya and this thread made me want a burger. Deicy Reilleys is in front of the Marriott on Pattaya 2 Rd. It used to be another Irish Bar whose name escapes me. At any rate I felt like a Burger and thought I read somewhere that they had good ones. A very Broad menu but I wanted a Burger so I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and even got them to substitute a small number of onion rings in place of FF. The burger was excellent . A nice light toasted roll , nice thick burger with cheddar cheese and I guess Irish Bacon ,lettuce and tomato. It was served on a plate with some Mayonaise and Ketchup and cole slaw. The onion rings were hand cut and some of the best I have had in Thailand although a little greasy which you have to expect. This burger was 265 baht which for the quality and the nice surrounding I figure is quite fair. Especially since I spent 245 at Burger King 2 weeks ago for a burger 1/2 the size and quality. Of course it did include a soda. Of course I missed by a night because Mondays are burger nights and they are 99 baht which would be like stealing. Tuesday was Pizza or Pasta for 99 baht and I saw a number of people with a good looking pizza for 99 baht which again is like stealing. They have specials every night but these two appear to be the biggest value. Nice atmosphere and good service and the price is complete. Sunday is Carvery day with 3 meats etc etc for 299 baht complete which I am pretty sure is the cheapest I have ever seen it. Can't wait to try the Firehouse in BKK
  2. No problem for me . They would be one of my last choices in European Carriers.
  3. And it definitely should be simple. This inexperience will continue to show up especially in Asian Carriers where there is so much growth and need for pilots . Supposedly the Senior Pilot had many landings at SFO. What was he doing that he did not realize the inexperienced pilot flying the airplane was too low. There is little doubt that this will be pilot error and it will be another stain on Asiana and another reason for me not to fly on them.
  4. Brings back memories of Hilton Old Town Prague with the best Croissants . They would come out with a tray and 5 minutes later they would be gone but never fear they would be back in 10 minutes with another tray. They were so fresh and so good. Now who in Thailand will have Cronuts first??
  5. Hard to tell from the photo but that does not look like a very large pizza??
  6. No No No. That was Rudolph!
  7. Where is my Corn Bread. You promise last time???
  8. I always thought the noise was just the GayBoys saying meet me meet me!!
  9. Rarely do I feel the need to write a good review on a Pattaya restaurant. But here goes. "The Kitchen" on Pattaya 2 Rd just before Siam Bayview Hotel if you were coming from Walking Street area. I believe European owned. Open front, high ceilings ,Big Tv's on the wall and high up fans.Very comfortable chairs and good spacing between tables. Menu is very large with various salads,.soups and appetizers . Main plates encompass almost everything with the emphasis on Italian. However they have ribs, steaks , fish and chip a complete Thai menu and a number of sandwiches. They serve beer and booze and all sorts of coffee', teas etc. I had a Banana Smoothee which was good size for 80 baht. I went off what I might normally order and got Ravioli stuffed with spinach and Ricotta cheese Crostini. I really hated to finish this dish , it was that good. They served it with some bread and olive oil. The price was 260 baht which for the quality of the dish IMHO was good value. The service is excellent with very well dressed cute girls (can't have everything). No tax was added which makes the price even more reasonable since many of the restaurants add that on to the bill. I saw quite a few other dishes being served and the presentation looked very good and I noticed they were getting many good comments. Give it a try!
  10. Been here a few days but between an awful cold probably from the 22 hours on the airplane and my Iphone being full of numbers, I have not felt the need to go out. Now this should be the height of slow season and I made 3 stops in BoysTown tonight. 1. As always FunnyBoys was my first stop at 9pm. About 20 boys and 3 customers. Mamasan Rose runs a class act with cold towels and peanuts. I would say the average age tonight was in the high 20's with 2 younger boys maybe 20. Overall the oldest group I have seen in quite some time . A few semi- muscle boys and really no fem boys at all. For me it was one of the weakest line ups I have ever seen in FunnyBoys. Welcome to low- season. Soda 150 baht 2. Next stop across the soi is ToyBoys. ABout 16 boys at 930 and 11 customers and 2 offs while I was there so even in slow season ToyBoys seems to be doing ok. Still that's 1/2 the number of boys in April. Average age was lo to mid 20's with a wide range from Fem to Muscle(small). But as luck would have it there was one stand out boy not on stage , just roaming and spending time outside. My kind of boy. Handsome Face IMHO, small with just a hint of muscle and a great smile. Will go back for him in the next few days. Soda 160 baht. 3. XBoys Land was next and they have an early show . Been to this erotic show a number of times and this was a pretty tame version with the F--- show being very short and not going into the audience. No B Boys which is what really interests me . 8 boys on stage with a pretty low rating from me. Could really tell it is slow season here. Soda 210 baht which was of questionable value based on the show. Anyways that was enough for me. Lot of the other Bars looked completely dead and Beer Bars like Panorama etc were also very slow. Keep in mind this was very early, I finished at 1030 but I doubt much was going to change
  11. If you complain they will just raise the price and give a true weight for awhile and then start all over. LOL I don't suppose the diet is magic but 38k (what I need) LOL Congratulations!!!!
  12. Looks expensive, maybe my good friend Michael will take me???
  13. Looks like the perfect size for Putin and his family and friends and then make it disappear.
  14. That looks better then the last one I got there which was like the old Dominoe"s like a piece of cardboard. Maybe I'll give them another chance , I'll even let you buy! LOL
  15. Might as well try HeartBeat.. At least it will be new for you!!
  16. Surprisingly it is the opposite for Europe . The fares are cheaper originating at Heathrow vs BKK. Go figure???
  17. That would be true except I buy fares with travel originating in BKK which brings the fares year round down to $3200 -$3300 and change which is similar to your 100,000 baht fare for 65% of the distance. Not sure if the same thing happens on Europe fares, because I have never had a reason to look. Actually ANA and UA come in at $3252 on most dates and DL as low as $3207. For whatever reason the fares are much cheaper when originating in Thailand. So years ago I threw away a return ticket SEA-BKK and now all my roundtrips originate in BKK and I paid for that discarded return many times over.
  18. I don't consider those fares anything special. That is more then I pay BKK to SEA which is about 60% more mileage. They may be good compared to other airlines in the market but that market is well over priced. IMHO
  19. All good points but the thing I see from personal experience is ANA is #4 and UA is no where to be found. I consider UA international BC at least even with ANA and maybe even a bit ahead depending on what is important to you. That being the case , I continue to be suspect of these rankings. Also for the most part if you do a kayak search for BC from USA to Asia the Gulf carriers are considerably more expensive then our USA carriers unless you spend hundreds of hours on Flyertalk etc. and get a special fare. At some point for me at least paying an extra $1000 or more to get a better bottle of wine or a more sophisticated appetizer just does not make sense.. One of the problems with these rankings is that the majority who submit their likes and dislikes are probably not paying for their own tickets and can pay a higher price for minimal increased value.
  20. I always look at these with a lot of suspicion. For instance One World better then Star Alliance. Not a chance for the USA market which I am sure is the biggest market world wide. Since in the USA the vast majority of members in One World would have AA as their membership airline. AA fails in all categories compared to UA. Also the UA search engine for award seats is a joy to work with and finds seats on all member airlines. Compare that with working with DL whose search engine is a well known joke. Not personally familiar with AA but doubt it compares with UA. The ratings are heavily favored towards Arab airlines which may be great but they don't fly from the USA to where I want to go. I can choose ANA, Singapore etc from the Star Alliance and use UA and them to go anywhere in the world from the USA. If I was in London and flying to the Middle East or even Asia , I might think One World was a good alliance. Not much use to me in Denver, Dallas, LAX , SEA etc etc etc. It also depends on what is important to you on a flight. Some people in BC find the wine and spirits selection very important which is why ANA and Singapore do so well and of course the constant smiling of the FA's. Yet in the last few months I have flown BC on ANA and UA and I find UA to be superior for what is important to me, The entertainment selection is far superior on UA. I find the food at least equal and I don't care about the wine selection. No comparison in smiling FA, ANA wins easily but the service on UA was quite good if not up to the smiles of an Asian carrier. And then for someone who pays for his own tickets many of those highly rated airlines also have higher prices. In the end , I want to get from point to point and price becomes the most important factor if I am purchasing. If I am using miles then the availability of low awards world wide is the most important and here for my travel UA wins easily and those Arab airlines are not even in the race.
  21. I think where you get screwed at LHR is with taxes if you are using miles. At least with DL that is the case. Not sure about UA. Have to say my recent flight from SEA BC on united was extremely good as far as service and food. Still hate the configuration of 2-4-2. Their entertainment module has everything you could ever want . I was supposed to be on the Dreamliner with staggered seating on ANA but not back on the Seattle route until September. Still like DL staggered seating far better then UA but those miles are so worthless compared to Star Alliance miles that DL just gets a little of my business.
  22. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/thailands-boom-northeast-spoils-010447937.html I wonder long term how this will effect our beloved Issan boys from moving to the city for the Sex Trade. I for one have never been to Udon Thani and may make a trip soon before it has been completely changed. I never get involved in the internal politics of Thailand, but this article at least makes me think this government may be doing a lot of things right. Look forward to comments from more knowledgeable people??
  23. There can be some pretty interesting approaches at Washington National. Have to keep those politicians safe!!!
  24. Pizza is such a personal thing. The crust, sauce, cheese and spices and the oven all can ruin someones favorite taste. I read many good reviews on Scoozi years ago so i tried it and thought it was crap . Tried it again last year and still think it is crap. There is a little Italian restaurant almost across from BNH Hospital. They have the best 4 cheese pizza I have ever had. Don't remember price but i think about 220 medium size. I actually think PizzaHut is good in the USA but terrible in Thailand. I have tried the pizza at Zanottis a number of times and rate it ok, not as good as some of their other dishes. I am a deep dish fan or a very crispy thin crust. Can't wait to here more reports???
  25. Does anyone not see the difference between raising an animal for consumption (whatever it may be) and rounding up animals in another country some of which I am sure were pets and smuggling them across the border for a horrible death and then consumption.
