Wow Considerable improvement over the last time I visited these Bars 2 years ago.

Anyone who likes massages as much as you would prefer BKK. Other then that Pattaya wins in all categories IMHO.

Good luck to the Boys asking for more. If they get it good for them. If they have to accept less, they are used to it. Last time I checked lawyers, doctors,dentists, hospitals etc all have different prices . Sometimes the higher prices are warranted and sometimes they are not. It is after all a market economy these boys have and they are free to do as they wish. Refuse insulting offers (hopefully), trying to get above normal rate and yes even refusing certain kinds of service or service at all. And we should be thankful that such a high % accept the normal rate and in most cases provide the services promised.

XBoys was my #1 Bar for 2 years when I lived in BKK but then the quality seemed to go down. On my last vista it appeared they had once again found many of my types!

My response was more about Bars. True my recent experience about massage places is pretty limited but certainly I would ask for a menu when I waked in to determine if I had any intention of staying. I generally like a King size bed for my massages so seldom go to places where cleanliness is variable and I have to climb 2 or 3 sets of stairs . That said I will undoubtably give Prince a try on my next visit and the place mentioned in Pattaya where Vit works. hehe

I'm trying to remember any Bar I ever entered in the USA where the drink prices were posted . Zero. If it is important then you ask someone or ask for a menu before you enter and sit down. Soi Twillight and especially Dreamboys is famous for high and different day pricing. So you ask and if you don't like the reply you move on. In the past I have found most GoGo Bars on Soi Twilight will negotiate the price(at least sometimes) , with the notable exception of Dreamboys who to my knowledge have never done so. At least V Club had a pricing menu !

The only thing I find recommendations useful are whether the boy is Top, Bottom, Kisses, Sucks . Even that is not a guarantee but useful for making a decision. Somebody tells me boy was fabulous etc, I do not factor that into my decision because there are too many variables involved . What one customer considers a great BJ , I might think was lousy and same for kissing or anything else. Also boys are not machines so 3 people on 3 nights could have a great experience with a boy and customer #4 has a terrible experience. Maybe on night 4 boy was hung over or got word from home that mama was sick and so many other variables that go into the boy performing admirably in our opinion. Especially in a Massage Shop where you could be customer #6 or #1 and you have no idea which you are unless of course you got there when the doors opened. The amazing thing to me in Thailand that is still on balance the high % satisfactory - special encounters.

To me the only allure of beaches in Pattaya were the boys. Since they are seldom there anymore I see no need to go to a beach where the water at best is semi filthy!

Lot of truth to what you say but Thai boys still put great importance on how they are treated. That is not to say that all Westerners treat boys with more respect but at least for now many still feel we are the best customers as long as we pay them fairly!

Great thread with new posters arriving which is great . Hope it continues. Few comments : I have forgotten how much fun massages can be and will add them more then I have in the recent years. I hate the places with 3 floors of steps and will have to avoid those. Have to agree many customers do not tip boys in Bars even in small amounts like 20 baht just for them being on stage. I frequently hand out 100 baht bills on leaving to boys who exhibited dancing skills or smiles supposedly for me. (hehe) I rarely stay in a Bar long enough to drink more then 1 drink and find there is no difference between water or booze (same price) Bar is already making a bundle on customers ordering water. Overstaying your welcome for 1 drink is something I never personally experience except for shows and if I am paying 280-400 baht for a water I would definitely nurse it to get through the show. Waiter always gets what is left from 100 baht notes. So in Pattaya that might be 20-40 baht in BT except for shows when it may be 50 baht. Sunee beer Bars depends what change is because things can be so cheap but at least 20-40 baht.

Hope you are not referring to me as the sympathetic farang. If you are you have your foot up your Ass and can't read. I believe nothing . He left his Planetromeo on my computer and I saved the password. So everything I reported , was directly read from his customers and replies, which I mentioned. The money I advanced him was so he could secure an apartment for a monthly rate rather then a daily rate and he paid it all back with visits . Plus I had known hime for quite some time. If that's not who you were referring to then disregard. HaHa

Happy to see you posting here more regularly. Always enjoy your trip reports and am in general agreement with your tipping policy.

My experiences in Brazil would be 70% of boys are Tops and 30% willing to Bottom. Problem with Brazil and other South America countries is that the predominant places to find boys are Saunas. Not my cup of tea and this is the same in most of countries FloridaRob mentioned . All of these places can be fun and just depends what you like. If you like GoGo Bars , some with Nudity Thailand is far ahead of any other country I have seen . Prague has some nudity and Sex shows but the drinks and boys are far more expensive . You can have 3 or more boys in Pattaya for what 1 costs in all of Europe . Brazil prices are similar and if you like Saunas and Tops you will have a great time. For the most part Boys go home to their wives and kids so overnights are not very popular. I had good luck in Bogota and Medellin using Social Media but other then Saunas did not find any GoGo Bars but I did not look hard. In almost all the places mentioned above Similar Quality Hotels are far more expensive then Thailand and in some cases more restrictive on Guests.

Certainly tons of info on Brazil on many sites but you mention place such as Peru and Panama , which I have never seen much about for Gay Clubs. How about some specifics??

There is no chance of that because there are no farangs. They represent a minuscule % of the patrons and thus the Bar owners could care less. Eventually more of the Chinese will find their way to Pattaya but then we will have to worry that the same thing will happen and the Bars will raise their prices and thus why Social Media sites become more and more popular.

Why I never use Agoda. Most of the time you make deposit or pay in advance and reviews can be worthless. On Booking.com rarely do you have to give anything for a deposit and the only reviews are from members who checked out of Hotel. Much more valuable!! I post regularly on Trip Advisor but recognize they do nothing to make sure I actually stayed at the Hotel. Thus I take reviews on Trip Advisor with at least some suspicion. Your last comment about attitude towards tourists could be true I suppose but certainly 1 posters experience with a Budget Hotel does not lead me to that conclusion. I can find many posts here about Budget Hotels in BKK where the room was filthy, toilet did not work , maid service was useless etc . That hardly means that the overall attitude towards tourists is bad? Just for fun I just looked for Seminyak for Hotels priced up to $55 US per night. Out of 94 Hotels 88 got reviews from Good to Wonderful. That would hardly lead me to believe that attitude towards tourists is bad. Of course anyone can have a bad experience and I certainly have , yet it has to be considered in context with the overall experience assuming that experience was long enough. I still remember my first trip to Budapest. Ripped off 3 times in a row by taxi drivers. I was certainly not happy about it but managed to find a way to minimize dealing with thief's and Budapest continues to be one of my favorite European Cities.

There is no doubt I have embraced the Social Media Apps and I have already come to the conclusion that finding willing partners will be easy. Since I plan on renting a Villa with a private pool , I expect that I will spend a lot more long times then I ever do in Pattaya. The fact that I have had coherent conversations with a number of boys on Hornet etc leads me to look forward to having an intelligent conversation in bed after the deed. This is something that is rare in Thailand . I don't drink so it will be interesting to see the shows in Mixwells, Bali Joes etc but it is likely I will not spend that many nights in the Bars. Certainly I will look forward to some of the sightseeing available and again having a companion who I can enjoy the sights with , is likely to make it even better. I still remember how much work it was even 15 years ago finding Boys in Amsterdam etc. Now in the last 5 years , Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid, Warsaw, Kracow , Prague, Budapest , Hanoi,HongKong,KL etc , I have found it so easy to find cute companions on sites such as Hornet and Jack'd. Funny thing I rarely bother with Grindr anymore, there are far better sites in the last couple of years.

I will be interested especially in your reports on Phuket. I stopped going there because I feel the same way Vinapu feels about Bali. Rip off artists on every corner from baht buses, boys , Hotels etc.. No doubt some great sightseeing opportunities and things like diving adventures ,beaches etc but seemed to be a dying Gay scene when I stopped visiting.

Not sure we disagree except I do not come to this site for information on Hotels,Restaurants , tourist things etc except maybe long ago for visits to Thailand . I use many different travel sites for that kind of information and here I hope to find information on Gay Clubs, Boys, Massage etc etc etc.. Most importantly personal experience by posters whose info I would have a reason to trust such as Irish. There have been enough positive comments on the Clubs, Boys etc both here and on Sawatdee that I have no reason not to move ahead with my plans to spend a good part of my next trip in Bali. Not to say I might not get a nugget of information on other things besides Boys , just that probably I will have already found that information before I ever post here.

Finally some specifics for the reason Vinapu has his bad feelings about Kuta. I might feel the same way if I had those experiences. I am still sad that he did not experience the Bars, Boys, Massage which of course are the things I am interested in and his opinion s would be valuable I certainly do not go to Pattaya for the beaches, restaurants etc which is why I rarely post anything about those. There are far better sites then this one to find the best sightseeing opportunities, restaurants etc..in any new location. I have read numerous reports about money changers trying to short change you . Certainly not the only place that happens and the reason why I will only use ATM cards . Same reason why I know that if you are to use taxis then BlueBird is the one you stick with in Seminyak because they are honest . All things I have discovered a year before my trip on Travel Forums. Same way I knew about the touts and cheats in BKK before my first trip and thus it was not a problem. Traveling to new places is not easy and gaining information from various sources is the best way to insure an enjoyable visit. When I look for info about a location on this Forum, I am looking for information on Boys and Sex. I think that is what most people on this Forum are looking for. Yes along the way you make pick up some hints about Hotels and rarely tips on a restaurant. I apologize if some think I come off as bullying Vinapu. Certainly not my intention but I felt then and still feel now his initial post had absolutely no value (at least to me). Since he has gotten more specific about the reason for his feelings , I can sympathize with his feelings. I am sad he had the initial bad experience which resulted in him not being able to comment on The Bars, Shows, Boys, Massages all of which would have been invaluable for my future visit as have been many of his posts on Thailand.

I agree with you if any useful info is provided. "I personally hate Kuta / Seminyak which are nothing else than tourist trap full of drunken farangs and enterprising locals out to shortchange you at every turn. I'm no fan of Pattaya but in comparison Kuta is shithole" That is not useful information . Nothing specific that I can see to warn me . Just a repeat of something that could certainly be said about Pattaya and many other Tourist destinations. Not Helpful!

Not as ridiculous as you who passed through for a few hours and decided in your infinite wisdom that the place sucks. Many posters on various Boards disagree with you and they spent many days and trips there. Now who would you listen too if you were looking for a new destination for whoring in Asia. Someone who spent such a short time that he never went with a boy, attended a club or got a massage or posters who have actually spent time there and experienced all those things. The choice is easy. Your opinion has no weight to me and those other posters at least have been positive enough for me to explore the location. Who knows I might end up agreeing with you but I certainly would never avoid a place because of such a review as yours which for the most part was useless! I can still remember reading reviews of visitors to BKK complaining about crooked Tuk Tuk drivers, taxis, touts at the Grand Palace saying it was closed for the day and touts about specials on suits that turned out to be terrible quality. Luckily I did not pay any attention to those type of reviews since I already had armed myself with what to look out for on my first visit. Because of that I did not experience any of those problems and 15 years later I am still visiting. Something tells me the millions who visit every year to Bali including Seminyak and Kuta must have also found many good reasons to visit which outweigh any negatives that all countries have. Just a thought?
