Thanks @sudoxi, your trip report is amazing and I enjoy reading them. For a first a timer, you handled it very well in terms of navigating this routine at gogo bar
-
Is there a reason why the off fee for waiter is higher than the gogo boy themselves? Just found that curious...

That's the appetizer. The main course is actually a free coupon that gets you curry or katsu in the cafeteria.

Review of Maxwell from other board: “ I visited this place on a Monday evening. By about 8.00 p.m., there were about 50 guests. I had a good time there, and the steam room was initially very tame, until suddenly someone took the "matters" in hand and before you know it, the steam room was very active indeed! Clusters of people were helping each other out, all hands (and mouth) on "deck". By the way, the food was good too. ” Looks like Maxwell onsen is most popular at the time being for gay cruising onsen

Here you go https://maps.app.goo.gl/gUTkHYT2PsDJ1h5A7?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy With their extensive videos, I think you can have general sense on what they do in the room 😅. They seem to do everything although may just be at standard basic levell. -
I think ultimately the reason why they still rely on Mamasan or Papasan with these archaic method is due to their vested interest being a middlemen. If you have a QR or laser, their role will be diminished so quickly.

Macs new M15 review https://shamelessmacktwo.travel.blog/2024/10/01/oily-translate/#more-5500 @macaroni21, as always a pleasure to read. Thanks for sharing! "affection" or "engagement" is likely a top criteria for me (aside from looks) and I think generally not just SK shops - this will be highly dependent on the boys. Although - I do notice that SK shops is more like the entry level shops (McDs equivalent?) and as the boy get more experience and more popular, they will inevitably move on to higher end place like Jey or Glam.

Thats a great eye @Raposa. You’re absolutely right and I didn’t realize he is in Glam. He is also new addition at Men Care using same photo! So by my count, he is in at least 5 shops ranging from 1000 baht (H) tips to 2000 baht (H). I am mildly curious…will see if I have time to try him 😝

Thanks, reader. That is reassuring coming from you. Ill send you via DM, msybe I am just over thinking it.

Thanks! I am going to Bangkok in December (late 30s, from NA, Asian background) so reading this from that perspective is really interesing. I will be adding FreshBoy to my list for sure. Regarding M15 shops photo. I, too, have this general concern about photo accuracy. Different angle, time period or even worse - photoshopping made the photo as useless as it can be as reference point. To mitigate this, generally I look for below (my theory yet to be proven, but I have high confidence this could be a good workaround). At very minimum, I look for non-professional photo (selfies, casual photos of them eating food, etc) With boys working at different multiple shops, they sometimes have different photos. Even better, Glam have all their masseurs photo in uniform so which tells me all those photos have been updated. I like a consistent shop photos (in uniform, same background, etc) as this provides consistency across that is not professionally taken Some massage shops upload short videos of their masseurs online (sitting down, showing off their body, working out) - this is a great source as videos less likely to be altered Sometimes, the boy have X account - if that is the case, that is strongest indicator of how they look recently Additional resources such as private line review groups sometimes take photos of the boys so you can gauge how close the photo is. SK shops tend to be the worst offender - some looking easily 5-10 years older than photo In rare occasions, shops that push for Google review like Ssense have masseurs photos taken by the costumer. Titan for instance looked so different than the original photo, luckily the shop also has posted more recent photo of him. All in all, I will overall put lower priority on masseurs that only have one-hit wonder photo taken professionally and no other photo. My theory is: if you look good in real life- either the shops or the boy himself want to have more photo taken! @sudoxi, may I ask how is the boy at Arena? Are they generally older (mid/late 30s) and muscule per general stereotypes?. Also with regards to MBs on Grindr - do they just message you stating they are MB or is this something that is not obvious?

The line between SK shops and Jey are definitely blurred. The masseur below is pretty well known in the SK shops. From previous reporting he had many limitations what he can do - I often wonder if once you get to Jey Spa territory that it would mean expectations of service imcreases compared to SK?

What would ne the common tip just to send them on their way. I suppose here 200-500baht is sufficient? (Depending how long they chatted of course)

Last week of the year busy or like low season?
Verchiele replied to abidismaili's topic in Gay Thailand
Indeed. There are at least tens of thousands of go-go and masseurs in Bangkok if not more (one SK shop has more or less hundred available already). People come and go in the industry, new faces, old faces remain etc. Take my upcoming trip for a week in Bangkok - have seen at least hundreds of boys photos but alas only have time for 7 nights… -
The weather must not be too great these days that the stores have "rainy day" promotion. Just checked the weather app and its raining every day for next 7-10 days!

I dont think thats necessarily true! I mean the entire premise of gay4pay predicated on the fact that a mouth is a mouth, a hole is a hole.. 😛 but true, performance anxiety is likely it. The documentary explors that taking viagra when they dont have erectile dysfunction will make them dependent on these stimulants … -

So in this video. It appears that the masseur took a pill / or some sort from a white plaque. Ive seen other masseurs did this as well. Any idea what they took? Wondering if its just stimulants or something else https://x.com/with18581/status/1840239392499081344?s=61 -
I forgot to ask this questiom, when a masseur is labeled as T&B, does that mean he is more or less lgbt ?

Depends which massage shop you are referring to. Regardless low and high season most shops require reservations anyway - if you try to book them few days in advance (which may be too far already) - boy’s availability should not be a concern. However in non reservation place like gogo, VCK, Senso, Arena - there are certainly more competition -
If I'm not mistaken, it doesn't seem that Ssense is an H shop? (I am not sure but I can tell that they do the massage clothed).

Wow reader. I think you should monetize your experience and start one of those reviews line lol. We all would be happy to chip in 500 baht 🤣

As someone that grew up in Asian country, I know what it feels like being a closeted gay man! (I am now in my mid 30s) I wonder what is the gay perception in Thailand is despite it being legalized in society. Here is one such fact “A 2019 UNDP survey showed that 53% of LGBT respondents had faced verbal harassment, 16% have been sexually assaulted, and 42% have pretended to be straight in order to be accepted in various settings. 47.5% of the respondents had experienced at least one form of discrimination from within their family. As a result of stigma and discrimination, 49% of the LGBT respondents said that they have contemplated suicide, and 17% that they had attempted to take their lives.” So despite it being legalized, Thais still face societal repercussions for their sexual preference. I think this would contribute to the fact that many Thais (incl masseurs and gogo boys) would identify as “straight” but not necessarily so behind closed doors. Alas, its good to understand that despite all of what is known about Bangkok being gay capital of the world, the society is still much more conservative than what we are used to in the west.

Question to the veterans here, Have you had experience where you LTed / take the SK masseur out for an evening? Or is that common and just isolated to go-go boy / app.
-
Many businesses pushes / encourages their staff to get google review such as say a tailor/suit business in Hoi An to a hotel staff in Marriott Asia. However, how their reward and comps are tied to it is another matter… Ssense is probably the only place that emphasizes google review. I reckon, none of the other massage places have even 100 reviews lol.

Im sure theyll more than happy to oblige
